    It is a simple formula makes me wonder why everyone raves about it. 😀 You can make your own at a fraction of the price as you've demonstrated.Salicylic acid can be very drying. The ordinary have an anhydrous formula which is better suited for dry skin. I wonder if you could formulate a similar product Tara. 😊

    Tara, I think that most of your subscribers would love to see how to formulate Elf's Holy Hydration Face Cream. It seems to be all the rage right now and it's a doable formulation!
    I have never tried any Paula's Choice products. I formulate all my own skin care as well as selling my own products. The only thing I buy is my retinol product and my Copper Peptides. Which both are made by The Ordinary. I just love their products! I know several companies make retinol formulas, but The Ordinary keeps their formulas pretty simple!

    Hi Tara, I'm so glad you made this video I couldn't wait to watch it.
    I've tried making this few times now with same exact formula without the polysorbate and it always ended up recrystallising on cooling. Initially, I thought it was because I added in Azelaic acid in mine then I tried few times without Azelaic acid and it still recrystallised on cooling.
    I'm quite frustrated 😂.
    What do you advice I do pls?

      did you use this exact one with propanedial and polysorbate 20 and followed the exact steps?
      if so, my question is, where is your salicylic acid from. maybe try getting the same one i used.
      if you are using the same one and following the same directions and exact formula i’m honestly not sure why it isn’t working. maybe try more polysorbate 20

    Clicked so fast thank y omg I was hoping for this, also hope ur doing good and your hands feels much better, I have a question I already dm y on insta but I know u dont scroll as much as u used to because of your hands pain: recently iv tried to make a lotion with lanette o 8٪ and oil phase 20% but it did turns to a milky consistency never a cream I was stirring for 2 hours with a mixer and a non electric one ( the electric mixer would heat up and stop working) until iv added a xanthum gum by chance and suddenly I have a cream thank God for that, but still I am curious why I couldnt get a cream consistency just with lanette o ? Can you try to guess why the lanette o in this case didnt do the job on it's own, since u have great expertise ( that was my very first cream and I made a hudge batch ...biggest mistake can a beginner do)

    • @TaraLeee
      @TaraLeee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my hand is doing much better! thank you so much for asking. 😊
      i’ve never worked with lanette or ever heard of it. is it suppose to thicken or just emulsify. because it’s possible you might need to add in a thickener. that is probably why it thickened when you added xanthan gum. i would try adding in some cetyl alcohol. try 4%

    • @nouramy4038
      @nouramy4038 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TaraLeee thank y for reply, lanette o is supposed to be an emulsifying wax , the supplier advised that 2% to 8% depending on % of oil should be enough, I am so thankful for that xanthum gum it helped so much, next time I'll try to add cetyl alcohol as I already have it

      it depends on where you live. in ohio all you need is a vendors license which is what allows you to charge sales tax which is required for sales. so you will need to research the laws of your state. you should be able to find the info by googling your state.

    Can i use Triethanolamine instead of ph buffer to raise the water’s ph?

      @kimrawls5955 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Triethanolamine to raise a ph. To lower the ph, I use lactic acid or citric acid.

    The reason why PC product has no preservative is high glycols content and low pH. To dissolve Salicylic Acid you need a lot of glycols because it is stubborn and almost undissolvable in water. To dissolve 2% you need around 50% glycols. The reason you dissolved SA so easy is that the pH is too high. You use Sodium Hydroxide as pH adjuster. It will react with SA and form Sodium Salicylate which is very soluble in water, but it is a salt, not acid. So in your formula SA is almost neutralized that's why you had no issues while using such a low content of glycol. Also it might recrystallize in days/weeks.
    Sorry, but this formula will not perform as good as PC product.
    And no, 4.5 pH is too high for SA. 3.5 top.

    Sodium hydroxide is not hard on the skin!!???

    • @TaraLeee
      @TaraLeee  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you asking if sodium hydroxide is safe on the skin?
      No not on it's own, because it has such a high pH, since the pH is being changed to acidic it is no longer alkaline and won't hurt your skin. It is also highly diluted in this product. So it is diluted and no longer has a high pH to do harm.

    Hola. Sigo con mucho interés tu perfil de TH-cam desde hace un tiempo. Eres fantástica y muy creativa e innovadora. Si me permites quiero hacerte una propuesta: una gelatina que al tacto con el agua se convierta en un aceite capaz de eliminar las impurezas de la cara. 😊 Lo que visto en un perfil de instagram y parece que es muy bueno. No sé si has publicado algo parecido
