I absolutely love watching Matt test and compare just about anything. His launch/spin/ball speed characteristics are so consistent it's insane. It really gives us (consumers) an as close to spot on comparison as we could get. Matty, you're just awesome, man! 💯
You guys inspired me to get fit. I've been playing for a year. Bought used 710 AP2s. I just found out my 7i club head speed on avg is 91 mph. I got fit to a KBS tour X shaft. Tried 12 shafts. 9 heads. Went with JPX 919 tours PW-7 919 forged 4-6. 2 degrees up right. I am so excited. I added 20 yards of carry and and my dispersion is insane now! Thank you for inspiring me to get fit for clubs. Hoping to break 80 by christmas!!!! Thank you thank you!!!
I would love to see another video on 50 yard and even 25 yard shots to show that firmer balls (standard prov1x, Bridgestone Tour B X, etc) spin more on partial shots than softer balls because the soft cover is working against the firmer mantle/core. So many people thing the soft feel = more short game spin, but physics really don't dictate that.
TXG, boys, I finally figured out how to comment, I just want to say Thank You so much for all the detailed info and testing that you do, it does not go unnoticed. Thanks to you I found my new golf ball, the Avx. I’m very used to the old pre 2010 pro v1x which I guess is most similar to the left dash? Anywho, thanks again, I just dropped a 1000 rpm on my mid irons and picked up 10 yards!
I think an even shorter pitch being added to this would just take your already awesome testing to another level. 20yrd, 50yrd, then onto the full shots. Keep up the amazing work gents, can't wait to see Tour BX vs TP5X vs ProV1x vs Z Star XV
I bought Srixon Z star XV balls in yellow last year. Will be playing another yellow ball this year. So much easier to see....for me anyway. Another great video guys!!
Great comparison - I love that you included the partial wedge! Would love to see the AVX vs. the new Tour B X and the ProV1x - would be great to see how the contrast of the short game spin with how ball speeds compare on driver. I've been playing ProV1x as it gives me a good balance of performance, but am curious if another option would give me lower mid-iron spin without giving up too much at the top and bottom of the bag.
Great test, love Matty hitting the ball, next best thing to an Iron Byron but at the risk of beating a dead horse, I'd really love to see these tests done at a more average swing speed of 90-100 mph to see how the various idiosyncrasies of ball design affect a more average golfer. Keep up the great work, still the best channel for testing on all of YT.
Love the “Ball Series” I think a low (ish) spin premium ball comparison would be awesome. Specifically the left dash vs ZstarXV vs Tour-BX. 50 yard addition was perfect! Just curious if the left dash is quite a bit lower than those other two.
I played the avx last year and loved it. I think i look forward to the 2020 version more now. I especially noticed the performance on a windy beach course. I even gained a few yards.
THANK YOU for reviewing the yellow. I wear glasses & I have found the yellow is much easier to see off the tee. Into greens & stuff I don’t see much of a difference personally, but because of the tee shots, of the ball doesn’t come in yellowC I don’t play it. Currently playing Srixon Z-Star
Looking forward to the Taylormade Tour Response test. Although, you should compare it to the “premium” ball offering (TP5/X) instead of the Project (a). Makes sense as it is what it’s replacing. But, we want to see how it stacks up against the best offering the company has just like you guys did in this video!
As a new golfer, I have learned a lot from TXG. I’ve never seen anyone being able to hit a ball as consistently as Matt, and today was the 1st hole in one I’ve seen. As a result, I couldn’t care less about getting a hole in one in the future as, it appears, to be pure luck. One less thing to think about on the course!
I have been using the Left Dash now for about 6 months and I don't think I've ever loved a ball more. I usually change balls every once in a while, using TP5x or Pro V1 or one of the Srixon variants. But now I'm a committed Left Dash guy, so much so that I've stocked up with 6 dozen for fear that Titleist may discontinue it. I originally found the LD hard to find, but now it's becoming more readily available, both in stores and online. Hopefully, Titleist will continue to produce these balls because they're incredibly long and have adequate spin for irons.
Was testing prov1, prov1x, tp5 and tp5x today. I casuall put an Avx that i found in the test, thinking it would be just a bit of fun. Well, I'm ordering a dozen avx for 2021 end of season. I was pleasantly surprised how straight it was and it felt best off the putter and wedges. Around the green, it reminded me of the original Nxt, which was my favourite as a junior until they introduced the S version and ruinied it.... I hope the avx performs well off the driver, but since i got fitted with cg near face driver (rogue) as you said Ian, could be right up my alley.
Really hope you guys do some on course wind testing with various speed swingers using a radar. I will happily buy whatever ball performs best in the wind.
Nice job on the comparison. I used to play the ProV1x then moved away when it was changed. Tried the original AVX for a season then moved to B RX to try to get some more driver distance and increased spin closer to the green. I'd like to see the B RX vs. the new AVX since that would also let me compare to the left dash. Oh, and while you're at it if you could dial things back a bit and take some shots at speeds mere mortals are more likely to generate (95-105 mph drivers) that would be great.
Here’s my ONLY issue with the video. I would have liked to see Matty’s swing speed for each ball. Subconsciously he might have been going a touch harder at the left dash. Maybe not, but I would have loved to compare Swing Speed vs Ball Speed for both
Can we see a test on the new tiger ball for 2020 ,I played it today and was super impressed with it in every aspect of the game ,soft of putter and wedges but flys great on driver
I haven’t even finished watching the video and I have to comment on one finally going in! The way you pepper the flag, that was long over due. Drinks on Matty!
Great video, thank you. BTW it is expected that AVX will launch higher with Wedge, told by Titleist and was the same with 2019 model. Very disappointed 2020 AVX has the same issue with driver though. I was really looking forward to use AVX this year, but if I can’t drive it, I can’t play it. Had the same issue with 2019 AVX that was phenomenal with especially 2-5 irons. Live in Europe, -v1x is not available here.
I use yellow balls on overcast days because the ball stands out with clouds in the background. Even high end balls are yellow... yeah! I use the AVX because they suit my swing.
Great shot! Think you found your ball, the Left Dash. I've played the new AVX for 3 rounds. Way better than the previous ball which I ended up giving the sleeve away. It was way too jumpy with the wedge and lacked distance control with the shorter irons. I have yet to get a flyer from the middle of the fairway with the new ball. Around the green it is very good. It's very close to the ProV1 and X. It may lack just a touch of check, come off the face higher, and is noticeably softer. I'm actually liking the AVX more off the driver than the X. I'm seeing more rainbows and less risers. Time for me to test the Left Dash...
Hi guys; hello from Hobart, Tasmania! Thanks for all your great work, too good and greatly appreciated! Just wanted to check-in as I noted in your -ProV1x vs ProV1x video that Matty's driver spin was 1851 for the -ProV1x and it's 2194 in this vid. Other key stats suggest different driver set-up? Would be great know if possible but apologies if I've missed something.
What would be a good spin number from 50 yard short and 54 degrees 120 yard shot. In 7,000’s for 50y and near 10,000 120y, is that good? Are those playable numbers on firm fast greens?
Hi guys. Love the channel! Would love to see a left dash pro v1x vs tp5x. Think both great balls for higher swing speeds looking for less spin and I am keen to see them head to head. Thanks!
Why does the USGA rate the 2019 AVX as "L-M (Low Driver Spin/Mid Wedge Spin) and the new 2020 AVX as "L-L" (Low Driver Spin/Low Wedge Spin)? You just proved it had a lot more spin?
The spin characteristics change so so much playing off a winter matt like us back here in Scotland right now. Balls spinning like mad aff the Matt compared to the turf. Would these numbers be a lot lower with the wedge off the grass.
depends, a firm mat will produce higher spin numbers than a soft mat (usually) - so if your local turf is similar to the firmness of the mat you practice on it may not differ all that much
I have been playing the AVX model for quite a while. I recently ordered a supply of the 2020 versions which I am looking forward to getting. I really love the way you and Matt showed the improvements here in the 2020 version over last year. They worked on it and got it right. Do you guys happen to know what the compression is on these? Around an 80 perhaps ???
I would love to see the new AVX against a less expensive soft ball like a DT Trusoft or Callaway Supersoft. I think there would be very surprising results.
I expect the DirtyDog GCQuad data on the hole in one ... as well as Camera3 BS footage that cheer seemed highly edited😂. If you research daytime color vision a color between green and yellow is the most visible wavelength to the human eye, somebody has been doing their homework, well done TItleist. Interesting as well if they are invested as Dean Snell is in ensuring the dye formulations do not effect the performance. The other thought I have is will color formulations assist/enhance the ability of camera based launch monitors and ball tracking systems in the future. 👍
I'd like to see a Vs. video with Pro V1, Pro V1x, left dash, and AVX. Please spend more time on shots 40-100 yards. And also, if you could get a guest tester with a more average swing speed to go along with Matt's work, that would be great.
My driver swing speed is 105mph, and ball speed 146 but i was getting like 4000-5000 backspin. Dialed the loft down to 9 degrees and it's about 3k, 2600 on a good strike. i was given a 2019 AVX to try and while it was great on the driver, 7 iron down didn't really give me enough spin to stop the ball as much as i'd like. Especially trying to get a chip to stop quickly. I'll have to try the 2020 version, and maybe even see if i can get my hands on a -prov1x. I think that might be the best option for me, i like the firmer feel and seeing the spin nice and low on the driver but high on the wedge is very promising. Nice dunk Matty! In the future would you also do a ProV1 vs -ProV1x comparison? I feel that now the regular ProV1x is higher spinning, i'd be interested to see how they compare.
TheBadThing they did a pro v1 vs pro v1x a few months ago. The x is higher spinning than the previous models of x but it isn’t higher spinning than the pro v1. The left dash is the lowest spinning of the 3.
Interesting note, our eyes our more sensitive to the green range of the color spectrum better than the rest (as in we have more color receptors specifically for the green range in our eyes)
After seeing how well the pro V one X left - is, makes me wonder why they don’t add it to their lineup of golf balls. Seems to me like it’s almost a better ball than the AVX
I absolutely love watching Matt test and compare just about anything. His launch/spin/ball speed characteristics are so consistent it's insane. It really gives us (consumers) an as close to spot on comparison as we could get. Matty, you're just awesome, man! 💯
5:00 OOOOOHHHHHH!!!!!!
Edited for the full swing.
Super awesome, Matt.
HAHAH "That might go in."
You guys inspired me to get fit. I've been playing for a year. Bought used 710 AP2s. I just found out my 7i club head speed on avg is 91 mph. I got fit to a KBS tour X shaft. Also would love to see like a BXS vs prov1 vs tp5 etc ball test (the new versions). Love that you've added 50 yard shots... Crucial in my opinion.
Zachary Milos well which TP equates to which ProV now, it’s tough to keep up with.
I think an even shorter pitch being added to this would just take your already awesome testing to another level.
20yrd, 50yrd, then onto the full shots.
Keep up the amazing work gents, can't wait to see Tour BX vs TP5X vs ProV1x vs Z Star XV
Holing out on camera under the gun?? I'm convinced Matt is a real robot... No human can do this.
Zachary Milos Nope he’s not a real boi, Canadian Geneticists unfortunately haven’t been able to produce a Righted model yet though. 😂
Casual Dunk for the DirtyDog... Excellent test as always! Cool to see that Titleist is able to achieve a lower spin ball in two different ways!
I bought Srixon Z star XV balls in yellow last year. Will be playing another yellow ball this year. So much easier to see....for me anyway. Another great video guys!!
I literally yelled out loud with you guys at 5:10 and started clapping.
Exactly the same response I had.

Working on my average swing speed/common delivery characteristic swing for videos. Will be integrating it into as many tests as we can.
Thanks for responding and really appreciate the extra effort!
Casual dunk with a wedge
Little excitement
Back to your regularly scheduled program
dunk city!
Love the “Ball Series” I think a low (ish) spin premium ball comparison would be awesome. Specifically the left dash vs ZstarXV vs Tour-BX. 50 yard addition was perfect! Just curious if the left dash is quite a bit lower than those other two.
Matts swing
(mesmerising) good video guys... Look forward to the mid range price ball testing
I played the avx last year and loved it. I think i look forward to the 2020 version more now. I especially noticed the performance on a windy beach course. I even gained a few yards.
Great show guys!!! Like to see how the volvik s4 ball stacks up....keep up the great show, thank you
Matty's "yes" and "lovely" so good
Very interesting comparison & love the 50 yard shot added into the ball testing.
wish you'd show more of the AVX 2020 vs 2019
2nd HiO for Iron Byron on THE Channel. And what a HiO -straight into the cup.
Well done!
I have switched to yellow golf balls because I can see them better on the ground. Love the change.
YESSSS I HAVE WAITED SO LONG TO SEE ONE GO IN!! 😆😆😆

Another great video. I have been playing the older AVX. It was a great ball. Cant wait to play the 2020 version. Really want to try the left dash v1x
I have been using the Left Dash now for about 6 months and I don't think I've ever loved a ball more. I usually change balls every once in a while, using TP5x or Pro V1 or one of the Srixon variants. Yellow golf balls are great during the summer months but major problems trying to find them in late September, October when the leaves fall
Matt , Ian thanks for this review. I play the AVX as in last years model. Sounds like they have tweaked it well for 2020. Great review. Spider Dubiel
Nice job on the comparison. I used to play the ProV1x then moved away when it was changed. Bridgestone BRX and BRXS comparison?
Please could you make a video comparing the prov1 left dot vs prov1 and -prov1x?
AVX feels so good for my swing. excited to try the new model
Love to comparison between 2020 AVX and the 2020 Bridgestone RX and RXS.
Here’s my ONLY issue with the video. I would have liked to see Matty’s swing speed for each ball. Subconsciously he might have been going a touch harder at the left dash. Maybe not, but I would have loved to compare Swing Speed vs Ball Speed for both
JARRED!!!!!!! Great shot Matt, Awesome job guys!!!!
Can we see a test on the new tiger ball for 2020 ,I played it today and was super impressed with it in every aspect of the game ,soft of putter and wedges but flys great on driver
Played the AVX yellow fellow @ Princes GC in a gale. Performs well in the wind! Matty huge slam dunk!
great comparison video. 2 great ball options for the high spin golfer
Started playing the original AVX after a tour of the Titleist ball factory in yellow
I haven’t even finished watching the video and I have to comment on one finally going in! The way you pepper the flag, that was long over due. Drinks on Matty!
🍻
Can you let us know the driver spin difference between 2019 & 2020 AVX? Didn't see it detailed on video. Thanks
Great video, thank you. BTW it is expected that AVX will launch higher with Wedge, told by Titleist and was the same with 2019 model. Very disappointed 2020 AVX has the same issue with driver though. Finally saw a jugged shot. Awesome Matt well done super vid.👍👏🏌⛳️
Cheers from NorCal
Great test guys! So in a scramble I’ll play the left dash off the tee and avx on iron shots :)
I use yellow balls on overcast days because the ball stands out with clouds in the background. Even high end balls are yellow... yeah! I use the AVX because they suit my swing.
Hello I’m looking to buy the -pro v1x in Europe. Does some now how to get it, because I get the feeling it’s only available in America.
I may need to try these -ProV1X balls as I am a high launch high spin player.
First time I've ever seen a hole out on camera in a review! #Congrats
Would love to play the left dash but don’t know if any shops will carry it around here. I already spin the pro v1x way too much.
Great shot! Think you found your ball, the Left Dash. I've played the new AVX for 3 rounds. Way better than the previous ball which I ended up giving the sleeve away. Looking forward to the project (a) v tour response, been an (a) player for a while and sad to see it go.
For a 64 yr old with about a 90 mph driver swing speed...which ball is better...ProV1X or 2020 AVX?
driver performance will likely be similar, will come down more to how much spin you want on your irons and wedges
Avx might be a good cold weather replacement ball for users of the Prov 1 left dash with the similar characteristics but lower compression
Im very happy for Matt dunking that shot, but I may need new ears... HAHA
Could you do TP5x vs AVX??
Grant Saylor - my 2 favorite balls. Would love that.
Was there a difference between the 2019 and 2020 avx for full wedge, 7 iron, and driver? Great to see it spins more for the 50 yard shot
Ok, so they’re very close. Why would you ever pick the AVX? It’s priced like the Pro V1 - right?
Left dash vs Tp5x vs Zstar XV please!!!
Could do with the lower spin with driver but couldn’t cop with low spin on the wedges
Thanks!
AVX yellow-green color is perfect. So easy to find. Wish they'd make the ProV in that color. Really I wish the TP5 came in that color.
Can you guys test out Vice pro plus balls?
What is the difference between a left hash pro v1x and a regular pro v1x?
lower spin
Do you guys know if the yellow version and white versions are considered the same as far as a one-ball rule tournament is concerned?
Wilson also has a high spin version of the dual soft.
What is a good ball for high handicap.
Would I be wrong in assuming that with a slower swing speed the results would be the same only with a smaller gap?
likely yes
Why does the USGA rate the 2019 AVX as "L-M (Low Driver Spin/Mid Wedge Spin) and the new 2020 AVX as "L-L" (Low Driver Spin/Low Wedge Spin)? You just proved it had a lot more spin?
Can you do the same test with someone who swing speed with the drive is about 100 which is more inline with most of us?
The spin characteristics change so so much playing off a winter matt like us back here in Scotland right now. Balls spinning like mad aff the Matt compared to the turf. Would these numbers be a lot lower with the wedge off the grass.
depends, a firm mat will produce higher spin numbers than a soft mat (usually) - so if your local turf is similar to the firmness of the mat you practice on it may not differ all that much
What ball replaced the Titliest NXT and NXT tour?
I used to like those, nice control for me, less spin, a good straight ball flight for me.
Ben Toon - believe it’s the Tour Soft
Would you guys do a comparison of the TP5x and the - ProV1x?
Great ball review series.
Around an 80 perhaps ???
yes about 80 I believe
I love. The yellow 💛 color.......ooohhhhs sweet he made it
I would love to see the new AVX against a less expensive soft ball like a DT Trusoft or Callaway Supersoft. I think there would be very surprising results.
It would be good if you retested with wind factor
I expect the DirtyDog GCQuad data on the hole in one ... as well as Camera3 BS footage that cheer seemed highly edited😂. If you research daytime color vision a color between green and yellow is the most visible wavelength to the human eye, somebody has been doing their homework, well done TItleist. The other thought I have is will color formulations assist/enhance the ability of camera based launch monitors and ball tracking systems in the future. 👍
Great video. I can't tell a difference between the 2020 AVX and the Pro V1x. (Not the left dash)
FINALLY!!!
Got to see the Terminator hole one.
What were the compressions for these?
What golf ball would you recommend for a low launcher of the ball, descent ballstriker with good swing mechanics but the driver goes low.
Where on the club face are you consistently striking the ball?
Yeah still want the left dash to try but can’t get it unless I remortgage to pay for postage
Would you guys be able to compare the AVX and the Prov1???
Gotta test the new ones!!!!
Why did you only show the 2019 AVX numbers for the 50 yard shot and not the rest?
because that's where Titleist said the performance differences would occur
I'd like to see a Vs. video with Pro V1, Pro V1x, left dash, and AVX. Please spend more time on shots 40-100 yards. And also, if you could get a guest tester with a more average swing speed to go along with Matt's work, that would be great.
I was beginning to think the program itself wouldn't let you sink it because I've never seen it before on any channel!
I would love to see y’all test the ad333 from Srixon since y’all worked with Marc!
It sucks you can't get AVX feel with ProV1X driver performance. Losing 8-10y off the tee is a fairly big gap.
After seeing how well the pro V one X left - is, makes me wonder why they don’t add it to their lineup of golf balls. Seems to me like it’s almost a better ball than the AVX
