Absolutely brilliant. Different time, really a different game but the men from Offaly gave a tremendous boost to all hurlers from the so-called weaker counties. Remember watching this in Co Down as a cub later playing alongside Brendan Keeshan in NY.... Always have a special ❤ for the Offaly hurlers Hopefully they get back some of the ❤ that these men displayed.....
Unbridled joy! Brilliant to see this and relive it again. Incredible scenes of pure raw passion and delight. Offaly hurlers won a special place in the hearts of the nation in those times. All for the pride of the little village and the county. REAL HEROES.
Great upload. Kilkenny weren't sparing the timber but then I suppose they never did. Lovely to see Offaly's breakthrough. So many great moments in a 20 year period. And the football too.
@@patrickwalsh6873 I saw all their games. Not a booking in 20 years. Another Kilkenny man who knows nothing about hurling. Winning at all costs and still at it. The face of Shefflin the other day. 11 All Irelands, 3 players of the year and he's still a miserable bastard.
The Leinster hurling finals of 82 and 83 were two brilliant games of hurling ,as a kilkenny man I'd have to say there was nothing between these two great teams only a puck of a ball
(I posted this under a video of 1984 Leinster Final between Offaly & Wexford) Offaly went 0-08 to 0-00 up in that game...You could say Offaly won it in that start and Wexford lost it..Wexford outscored Offaly 2-11 to 1-07 after the bad start...I was 14 I remember the headline in the Sunday World "Slaneymen's Crown" in half grey/black large print...Wexford had dethroned Kilkenny and were rightly favourites...games were better back then...
We are talking about what team could make breakthrough in next few years..first of all hurling is played with a hurl and a ball..yes you do have to be fit..hurling now is tippy tappy..I'd love to see the rivalry of Offaly v Kilkenny, cork v tipp,Galway v tipp,, Wexford v Kilkenny ,Offaly v Wexford..the ash ,ground hurling is gone, get the heavier ball back get all players in volved..you win a man of the march now without touching a ball...
I remember our late father bringing us to the game saying you could see history been made today and we did…thanks for uploading this great memories.

Are you joking ? That Offaly team were filthy. You'd want to watch a few more of their games.

Great upload indeed. My first match in Croker as an Offaly supporter (9 years old). We were spoiled rotten over the following 20 years.
Johnny Flaherty,
what a player
Fabulous. I was 12 when Offaly won that day. I heard the news on a bus returning from Knock, after the diocese of Killaloo day at Knock.
Why were you not in Croker
@@patricknaughton6821 I didn't even know Offaly were playing
There were very few of us there
I had to serve as an altar boy in the Killaloe dioceses mass in Knock@@patricknaughton6821
Offaly won 9 Leinsters from 80-95 and were more than a match for the Cats during the 80’s and early 90’s
Their was some great stars in that offaly team ,it would be great for hurling if they were back at the top again
Great upload and amazing match. Would you have the semi final v Galway ‘80. Love the old games. Thanks
I don't think so.
Great scenes

Fare fucks Offley, pity we cant see scenes like this today
Terrible that Padraig Horan was unaware that hes father had passed away during this match
