  • Fireworks before throw-in at Páirc Uí Chaoimh - apologies - make that SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Jackie Tyrrell and Dónal Óg Cusack put the hurling world and the GAA to rights ahead of the league clash between Cork and Kilkenny. #RTEGAA

The players make the excellence ...watched KK AND Cork this evening ...some great skills on show all by men who don;'t get a penny for playing. In fact there are probably as many counties with a chance of winning a hurling all Ireland as is the case with football.... about 8 ?

It’s situated in a bad spot. I believe you can’t get parking and getting out of the place is very poor and it’s an accident waiting to happen

Donal Og fair play comment stadium made off the backs of players no players no money and lucky if they get enough expenses and major injuries who pays for that. GAA players are not amateur in their preparation and expectations professional all but name. No professional is expected to do all that and work!! Gaago no other sports players would put up with that!! Respect the players they are the what makes inter County the product!! 🤔

Is it just me that thinks 7 million in expenses for players seems like a huge number. Let's not pretend that the players don't benefit from being part of intercounty teams, or more importantly that they are being forced to do it. Obviously they are the ones that are generating the money, that's the nature with all sports. But at the end of the day you still need people at the top to organise things, I'm not saying they are doing things correctly mind you. Additionally, while GAA players are fantastic athletes, their preperation etc. is not at a professional standard, top level professional sport is a totally different animal. The GAA go argument for me always falls flat on its head, that's exactly what happens in most sports, people have to pay to see much of it. The reality is the games on GAAgo just wouldn't be shown if not on GAAgo and the restructuring of the championships has led to many more games which makes it difficult to have all the biggest games shown free to air. This paired with the fact that GAA players wanted a condensed intercounty season to give more time to the club game has led to a lot more clashes between games that in the past.

GAA/Soccer/Rugby should all be played at the same stadium to pay off costs far quicker. Cork City FC should play their biggest games against Shamrock Rovers etc.. at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Munster have shown Cork GAA how to use their stadium. However, if you think Munster rugby and Cork City football are anyway comparable. Give your head a wobble. The average attendance in the LOI is about 2000 per game and 20,000 across all games. Let City worry about being good enough to sell out the 7,000 in Turners Cross. City don’t play any games big enough for that stadium, only possibility is getting Celtic over for a preseason game.

That's a league of Ireland mindset. Cork City could sell out 15-20,000 fans against the likes of Shamrock Rovers/Shelbourne/Bohs if the league was developed and marketed properly. The city has a big football population, they just aren't being inspired by the local club to attend.@@313DVE

What do you expect, you have all expensive stadiums built for an ametuer game. Some people get paid, others don't like the players. It's doomed from the start. Thats the big issue. Grand it's a national game, and it's unique but it's got way ahead of it self here. Players could have used there talents to turn pro in sport that maybe make a living from. When the gaa have a bigger stadium in Cork than Munster rugby for example, that says everything.

This is a good example of the Irish in charge. We are a disaster as a nation with so many problems and no pragmatism applied. Both sports are a problem with all the violence off the ball and verbal diahorrea. Is this us as sly and devious behind 7 officials backs. Empty stadiums, massive insurance costs because of soft large payouts for a scratch etc. Gaa executive not fit for purpose especially last 40 years
