I'm with the husband here. That woman's father was kicking her out to marry his mistress (who is obviously a much younger woman, gross...) while he sabotaged her chance of adopting a child and starting a family. What kind of man does that to their own kid?

I don't care about the age difference, clearly the wife is an adult. The question of exploitation should go in the contrary direction. In any case the actual crime is what he did to his daughter, pressuring her not to adopt the baby to use her as a domestic servant, just to kick her out when his wife wanted something different.

What sucks is that I can see this as almost justifiable. Would I ever do it? No. But given this whole "We are devout and you will do what I say and not as I do." hypocrite father who basically destroyed his daughter's happiness by not allowing her to adopt and kicking her out so he can get his jollies with a younger woman, I have no sadness for the loss of such a person who would manipulate his own child and then replace her like she was nothing.

I just watched the full episode a couple of days ago.
I see comments about the new wife being a gold digger, but the clip leaves out that the young wife signed a prenuptial agreement that gave her almost nothing, her husband's will only gave her $1 million, her family was wealthier than her new husband's family, and that she was set to inherit the majority of her family's wealth.
They also left out that the family's rabbi disclosed that adoption was "forbidden" within their small community and that it would have brought shame on their family and implied that her husband didn't want to adopt the baby but gave in to his wife. The defendant also admitted that she knew her father would be against the adoption before she started the process.
The clip also left out that the father purchased an apartment home for his daughter so he wasn't "throwing her out on the streets." I think it was a $2.5 million apartment. Her husband also worked for her father's company so they had their own source of income.

@@demarcusfaulkner7411 Orthodox Persian Jewish man who ran a caviar empire, was very "traditional" which was also sexist, and didn't want his daughter to adopt a Chinese baby into the family. But then proceeded to marry a woman 43 years his junior and the woman was a bit of a trophy wife who liked to get her way and what she wanted was her ummmm "stepdaughter" old enough to be her aunt, out of the house.
The daughter had no identity outside of the role she played for her father, which was surrogate homemaker since her mama was dead and she couldn't have children. Then when her father forbade her from adopting as well as going after this younger trophy, her husband Asher lost it for he was traditional too and while he wanted the baby for his wife's sake, he understood his father-in-law's objections, but when Manny decided to discard his daughter after everything, that angered Asher to the point of a calm murderous rage not only for hurting his wife but by being a complete hypocrite as well.
Episode ending: Roya is acquitted and Asher is taken away in handcuffs. He tries to speak to her immediately after the acquittal but she initially rebuffs him out of grief because she still loved her father. Then when Asher is arrested, as he's calling out her name, she calls it back tearfully until he's taken out of the courtroom where she then is embraced by her brother who comforts her. Nothing is said about Asher going to trial or making a plea bargain.

To be fair, he was probably right that the husband was taking the fall. The evidence was stacked in the wife's favour. However the husband saying "I did it" on the stand torpedoes the case. So I can understand Mccoy trying to push the whole "he's lying under oath" angle, however he was way too aggressive with it.
He does make a good point. That there's no evidence the husband did it and he has a motive to lie about it. However him blowing up like that makes it seem less like a rational idea and more like as AJ said a pissed off attorney that isn't going to bag his catch.

The father not only ruined his daughter's life, but also the ruling man of his daughter's life. Her father was damning his marriage to not have children. That is not right, even according to their religion. A man is not to take the daughter away from her mother or family, but the father was disposing of her and her husband and their wishes for a young thang, who demanded the sister leave, so there would be no competition.
