  • Join us for our first experiment mashing up the Legions Imperialis ruleset with 2nd Edition/Net Epic armies and stat-lines. To get the project off to a flier, we brought 4,000 points each of Eldar and Squats to the table!
    If you want to know more about the Legions Imperialis 40K project, please check out the accompanying discussion video which you can find here:-
    • Legions ImperiaIis 40K...
    And you can find our notes on the rules here:-

    Apologies also for the sound issues in the last 15 minutes or so - we were also experimenting with new mics which, unfortunately, did not have the battery life the manufacturers promised. Lessons were learned though, and there will be no repeat of this in future!

    Both these armies look magnificent. I'm particularly impressed with the colour-fade effect on the Eldar.

      Cheers! The Squat army I bought off of someone about 10 years ago which is why it looks a lot better than a lot of my armies. The Eldar are Craig’s and I’m sure he only did those in the last year or so - I’ll let him see your comment! Cheers for watching! ~ Gordon

      Craig’s painting skills definitely put mine to shame anyway! I like his colour choices too.
      I’m finding the rules discussions really interesting.

      @@midlandrailway7116 Yeah, his armies are a lot more professional looking than my own so I feel your pain!
      Cheers, I’m glad you enjoyed the discussion! We did used to make podcasts so it was fun to dip our toes back in again, but I much prefer making the battle reports than podcasting so this was a one-off rather than a return to regular discussions. Thanks for joining us again! ~ Gordon

    That was a cool idea, it looks like you put a lot of thought into it. Things like that are always going to take a bit of tweaking, but overall I reckon it worked out pretty well, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more. That was a pretty brutal round of shooting at the end, but tbh I don’t think it would have affected the outcome too much ☹ Still great to watch though, and very cinematic when the Titan got its "spread arms and murder everything" moment!
    As someone else has mentioned, Craig's army has a beautiful colour scheme; Eldar have always lent themselves towards an artsy aesthetic.
    I managed to pick up a Land Train and some Squiggoths the other day, if you have any plans to use them in future Battle Reports, I’d love to see how they work out on any ruleset (hint hint) 😂
    Thanks again for a great video, they’re always a pleasure to watch!

      Oh, thanks for this! I’m delighted you liked what we’ve done as we weren’t sure how fans of both old-school Epic and LI would react to us crossing the streams! I think with some more play-testing, we should get a better idea of whether it really works, but having made the changes (mentioned in the accompanying discussion video) as a result of this, I feel optimistic that it will. Time will tell!
      The next battle will be Dark Angels v Chaos (Slaanesh & Nurgle) but we have been wanting to do an Ork v Ork battle for a long time so that would give us the opportunity to get Squiggoths on the table!
      Thanks again for watching and sharing your thoughts, and hopefully we’ll continue to deliver more cinematic moments - although I’ll keep my fingers crossed that they’ll be for me and not Craig! 😂 ~ Gordon

      @@LifeofDie it’s not something I would try myself because I’m too set in my ways, but I love seeing other folks experiment with stuff like that, it reminds me that there’s so much more to the hobby than just a set of rules.
      Don’t take too long with the next one, I’m jonesing already 😂 And it’d be awesome to see some Ork vs Ork action, that would be so good!

      The aim is to release one every 4th Friday but I know it was a while between this one and the last LI report. Provided life doesn’t get in the way, I’m confident that the next report will be up on schedule (7th June)! ~ Gordon

      It’s never too late to tune in, GL - and thanks for joining us again! 🙂
      Yep, Craig is really great at only shooting when there’s action so none of the deliberations are ever captured on camera anyway. It really helps me as there’s never too much for me to cut out in the edit. That said, I always pare it down further: I know your time is precious so I try to make it all of the videos as action-packed and as lean as possible! I’m delighted to hear that I may be succeeding on that front! ~ Gordon

    This is epic! It’s sad that GW didn’t go for a real epic game again, but a space marine vs space marine game.

    • @LifeofDie
      @LifeofDie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers Ryan! Yes, I think if more forces were available LI might have been a bigger draw for us longer term - however, maybe GW are testing the water and might add more factions at later date. The fact that it is only 2 factions and we have all of our old school armies makes it a lot easier for us just to go our own way with the new rules! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts with us! ~ Gordon

    The new barrage rules will be interesting against the ork clans and other very large formations.

    • @LifeofDie
      @LifeofDie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, as a result of this play-test, we’re reverting back to the old templates for targeting units on open ground because we felt that the whole formation potentially taking a hit is too overpowered. The template will not be used for targeting units in buildings though; it will remain the case that all garrisoned infantry may be hit but, unless you are hitting a building with something with high Barrage Points, you’re likely going to be looking for 6’s to hit, plus they get the 4+ building save. We are trying hard not to change the core LI rules but this one feels like a compromise is required, especially so that armies with large formations like the Orks are not disproportionately affected. ~ Gordon

    barrage in legions imperalis doesnt hit the whole detachment, it just works like a regular gun that has indirect shooting ability unless it targets a garrisoned structure.

    • @LifeofDie
      @LifeofDie  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers for watching and commenting! Apologies for disagreeing, but the way we interpret the Barrage rules on page 78 is that the whole Detachment is hit by the weapon rather than one individual stand. The 1st paragraph refers to targeting a Detachment (rather than a model) and the 2nd paragraph explains about situations where some models in the Detachment are in LOS and some are not, so I think that is what’s meant? Either way, we’ve reverted back to the barrage template for future games of LI40K because the ability to hit the whole Detachment is too powerful with 2nd/Net Epic armies being used. ~ Gordon
