    Cracking job. I've just taken delivery of an ebay bargain (£24 for the 30lt), but no fitting guidance. Thank you for sharing your experience 👍🏼

      @@althescottishbiker I'm thinking the extra strap turns out into a rucksack

      @althescottishbiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It comes with a shoulder strap. I don't use it so can't say if it turns into a ruck sack.

    I have 3 30 litre bags and use for touring. 1 each side and 1 for top of my giving top box. I have a VStrom and use the giving side pannier rack along with the Cosmos fittings stops bags moving inwards. They are great and do the job perfectly. Now as an extra precaution I bought 3 30 litre waterproof bags from nippy Norman's but the ring bags are waterproof and the yellow liner can be zipped out. Again just as extra precaution I use 2 roc straps to secure bag to frame.

    • @althescottishbiker
      @althescottishbiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      I also use a couple of Roc straps for extra security. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

    thanks for the vid. i'm used to travelling light from my cycling tour days, so one of these for my hoped for tour of scotland next year including possibly the nc500 seems ideal. i was thinking maybe a 20l for clothes, with a 10l to keep 'dirtier' bits like tools and a puncture kit, and maybe waterproofs, seperate, but i'm a ways off deciding yet, but they deffo look easy to unclip for taking into the B&B at night. only thing i'd be a tad worried about is security if i nip into a shop or cafe or something, but hey-ho, can't have everything i suppose !!. • @althescottishbiker

    Can you install the bag perpendicular to the bike? Will the straps still have a place to fasten if you rotate it 90 degrees? I was thinking maybe you can use the straps to hold tight a small tent between them and the bag, what do you think?

    • @althescottishbiker
      @althescottishbiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. You could certainly rotate it 90 degrees with no problems. I’m not sure about your idea with the tent, I don’t think the stamps would be long enough. I will try it next time I’m loading up for a camping trip. Ride safe.

    • @dognaper321

      Coming back to this comment to let you know that I was able to successfully mount it sideways and inside the bag it managed to fit a tent, sleeping bag, and mattress. It was a lot easier to strap the bag to the seat once it was full. The tent was slightly bigger in length than the bag so it had to sit diagonally inside it, but even with all three things packaged there was still space for more random stuff.
      I lost one of the metal hooks unfortunately, they only really pull properly if fastened so it's possible that it fell but even with three it worked perfectly. Also quick note - after over 1000km riding with it at both street and highway speeds, the stitches on the top side of the bag started to come off so I had to take it to a shoe repairer to restitch everything and for under 5€ the bag is new and better than ever. Other than the stitches (which still managed pretty well considering I attached everything to whichever strap was closest) the bag itself, materials, etc worked like a charm!

    Thanks for the video Al, have you ever had one or more of the metal clips detach themselves from the loops installed on to the bike. I ask as I have fitted a 30 litre pack to my Trans Alp and I am concerned that if one detached and the bag moved all the straps could detach. Thanks

    • @althescottishbiker
      @althescottishbiker  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. I have had one clip slip out once, I think it was user as the strap wasn’t tight. I normally check the straps whenever I stop and they are usually fine.

    Can you mount these bags vertically rather than horizonatally secure with the supplied straps or is it designed just to lay flat?

    • @althescottishbiker
      @althescottishbiker  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. They are deigned to lay flat. There is a rubber friction mesh on the back to stop them sliding.
