    Your hair is beautiful! I'm thinking of getting sisterlocs but I'm concerned about the cost to maintain them. I'm use to doing my hair myself so I don't know if I could get use to that. How do you retwist of tighten yours? Is it really that difficult? Is it possible for you to do a video when you decide to do it again?

      Thank you so much! My next upload is actually a self retightening tutorial so you're in luck! For me, it's not that hard because I've had years of practice. I'd just recommend if you're just establishing your locs to have a consultant maintain your hair for you for at least the first year or two. They're professionals and can answer all of your questions while ensuring your locs remain neat and strong :)

    Do you have a video regarding dying your hair black? What color did you use, would you recommend it?

    Did you take the self-retighten class?

    • @ImaniGoodridge
      @ImaniGoodridge  5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Elizabeth Akindolie No, I was told the pattern and watched a consultant do it on someone else. Then I practiced on myself, my mom, and my sister!

      Imani Goodridge ok that’s good to hear! I’ve been doing it on my own through the help of TH-cam but have been told I should take the class. I don’t really have the money to spend

      Elizabeth Akindolie I uploaded a self-retightening tutorial a few days ago. See if that helps!

    Have you ever counted your locks?

      @ImaniGoodridge  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Rare Jewel Yes, awhile ago. I have 700-800. Can’t remember the exact number but intend to recount in the future!

    Thank you for this video. Your hair is beautiful. My sisterlock appt is. May 15th and I want to dye my hair black. It's currently a little darker than yours...Do you think it's better to dye before my loc appt? Thank you for your feedback.

      Thank you :) I'd say ask your sisterlocks consultant! Simply because I don't know your hair and I'm not a licensed practitioner or cosmetologist so I stay away from giving advice on chemicals and/or beauty practices that could be potentially harmful if ill-advised. I'd hate to give out information that I do not know is 100% credible. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help!

    How long have you had your locks.

    My loctician never braid and band.

    • @ImaniGoodridge
      @ImaniGoodridge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good for them! It's not a must but it does help with a few things. Firstly, it prevents unnecessary slippage from occurring when washing your hair if you have starter locs. More slippage = longer retightentings due to repairs needed for slippage (also leading to more expensive retightenings due to longer service time). Secondly, less slippage means your locs are likely to loc faster. I've found that to a lot of people on their loc journey desire for the locing/maturing process to go faster. Not braiding and banding isn't the end of the world. It just comes with certain consequences that some may deem negative for their loc journey. It's all about your preference :)

      @@ImaniGoodridge Right. I agree. My loctician shampooed my hair so most likely that mitigated slippage. Her words: "Im not braiding and banding. I know how to shampoo your hair" I shampooed a few times and would braid and band.
