    Wow, only 7 - 8 hours?! I have around 420 sisterlocks and when I first began self retightening a year and a half ago it used to take me over 20 hours. Now it only takes me about 10. I imagine I’ll continue to get quicker with time 😌

      I hve 246 starter locs and it took me 8 hrs for my first which was yeterday. It's quick to me compared to the 20 hrs it took to just redo my mini twists over a week ago lol.

    Yeah the center of my head takes longer. It is so disheartening too. Like in those movies when they are on a trek then they get to the mountains and it’s snowing, then they lose the supplies. They want to give up, and one guy sacrifices himself so the others can make it, then the finally get through and see their destination on the other side. But they are tired and it is slow. Yet they make it tired, broken, but not defeated.

      Oonagh72 typically hair that’s not growing as fast in the middle could possibly be an indicator of some type of deficiency. Iron or vitamin deficiency. It could also be your regular growth rate however it’s good to check to rule it out.

    • @Oonagh72
      @Oonagh72 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      caramelcocoa234 ok. Got it. I am iron deficient. Yet it has no effect on my hair. I literally have enough hair for four people. 1 in the front, one in the back, and two in the middle. I didn’t even get shedding after having kids. I know I am too feel bless but man is it a lot of work.

      Microlocs look like sisterlocs but cost way less to establish. I opted to do my own microlocs because the price of sisterlocs was also too much for me. It’s been 6 years and I absolutely love my hair. This is the r most low maintenance hairstyle for my thick, 4c hair.

  • @allwhatilove914
    @allwhatilove914 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've never heard of sister locks until a few days ago I saw a picture and I thought it looked beautiful. My hair is permed and quite long but I use it in a weave for the last 12-13 years. i love weaving for it's versatility and protection, when I use my own hair I kinda destroy it in a short period of time. Have been wondering and researching sister locks but your video made me give up.
    What a patience and precision you have! It looks really beautiful but it will be for next life, because on this one I would cut off my hair after 8 hours every 4 weeks in a saloon.
    Yesterday it was the day of redoing my weave. Took 6 hours to take it down, detangle, perm, hydrate, dry, re-braid and sew in, and finally style. And I was dead tired, just wanted to run back home. And I only do it every 2,5 months. Girls, you are really strong, equilibrated and centered. God bless you.

    I love this video, I have about 700+ locs and wanting to do self retightening. My hair is the same length as yours and I’m sure it’s going to take time, but I’m willing to do it even if it takes me a weekend to do it. It has been a bit much getting it done every 6 weeks. Especially during the pandemic. My retwist of course is 1/2 the amount it is when I got it done. And quite honestly that is $$ i can save if i learn to do it myself.

I separate my Iocs into 4 sections then separate each quarter into 4 smaller bunches and just take my time over about 3 days to do a few sections until it's done. Thank you for the heads up! With this video, it really will help me get ready to do my own retightenings. My hair is almost you Moms length, and I have MS. I took the class back in 2008, and never did anything with it. Always had other locticians do my hair. Now I'm gonna attempt doing my own since this virus. Being high risk, I don't want to take the chance of contracting the disease. Hope I can do this, Thanks again for your video, but first I'm gonna order that tool, I got that white plastic one they so called gave us in class. This one looks easier to use. I just subscribed so look for some questions from me. Have a good day. 👋🏾

    Actually, I like the fact that it doesnt have a grid. Why does everyone think.that you should have a grid? You've got natural hair with an unnatural grid pattern on your scalp. Grids may make it easier for some to work with, but you didn't seem to have a problem. Nice work!

      Darlene Jordan get micro Locs it’s less than half the price. Your paying for the grid and name when you pay for Sisterlocs when someone can do pretty much the same with micro Locs. That’s what I did 4 years ago and people always think their sisterlocs and I correct them and tell them they are micro Locs or just Locs.

      @@NaiaBlu1 what's the difference ?

    • @NaiaBlu1
      @NaiaBlu1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      jo ma there is really no difference as in the style, but the grid of Sisterlocs is pattened so she attempts to sue the installer when they call them sisterlocs and someone who wasn’t a certified trained Sisterloc consultant didn’t do them and charge you 1000 plus depending on inches. I was quoted $1700 for sisterlocs because of my 14” length, I went to someone else and got micro Locs for $350 and I do not have the Sisterloc grid but my grid is a very nice grid where people with sisterlocs thought they were until I told them no. Sometimes I’ve also noticed it’s almost like a cult when they attack you in the fb groups if you call your hair sisterlocs even though this style of Locs and the grid has been practiced for centuries it just wasn’t pattened. So the founder copied that and pattened it and wants to charge outrageous prices when you can get the exact same thing and just not call is sisterlocs for 1/4 of the price and it be microlocs.

    • @miurtouissi1093

      @@NaiaBlu1 ooooh so basically the main difference is the grid? Wow... Thanks for the info !

    • @NaiaBlu1
      @NaiaBlu1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jo ma yes but you can still have sisterlocs but they won’t be called sisterlocs if you didn’t have a certified Sisterloc consultant do them. They will say they are microlocs even though two women can sit right next to each other with the same grid. 1 woman paid $1000 plus and 1 woman paid $350 with the same result. Just remember that
