The world doesn’t need a small handful of perfect zero wasters, it needs many imperfect people who care enough to try to reduce their waste. And also for giant companies to stop being problematic.
Even just actively working to create less waste makes a big difference, and the more people that do it, will cause more companies to do it as well, making it easier for everyone

Gabriella Segura That’s bc of covid. In states that are trying to prevent the spread, reusable bags are banned and you can’t get bulk items anymore bc it’s unsanitary. Was really bad timing bc a lot of places had just implemented reusable/paper bag laws but now they’re right out the window /:

I think bringing your own cup is great because not only it reduces the landfill, but also it is an unique and easy conversation starter at a party as well as not getting confused by which one is mine.
I took a photographer class a few years ago and the teachet was the mom of a coworker. My coworker mentioned that one of the classes was on her mom's birthday and I noticed she liked to snack on fruit so I got her some fruit and rapped it in a cloth napkin I bought that looked like it could be a bandana too. Her daughter later yold me howuch she was touched by the thought

Interested to hear about this cause I've called lots of recycling plants and greasy cardboard ruins the whole batch cause the oil floats on the water and they can't get the wood pulp out cause of it.
The little yellow flowers that you gathered are call black mustard and they’re actually an invasive weed and they’re huge fire fuel! But they also spit their seeds, so when you pick them it’s best to bag the flowers before you pick them to prevent them from spreading too much!!
I am having my baby shower tomorrow and the theme is zero waste! We did the best we could having no waste! All decorated with flowers and the plates are glass and cloth napkins etc!!

I had a zero waste birthday party a few weeks ago. We made tacos and I got tortillas and salsa from a Mexican restaurant in glass jars and a big paper bag. I made cupcakes in glass jars (reused Oui yogurt jars) from plastic free ingredients. I only had about 15-20 guests, so we used my glasses for drinks, or drank from bottles and cans I recycled. AAAAAND, my favorite part was making Jell-O shots- I poured be mixture in a hollowed our watermelon half and then sliced it up when it was ready. Everyone loved it, and the rinds were composted!
I re-use all my red solo cups lol, i ask people to put them in a special "trashcan" and wash them the next day for the next party ;) have been using the same ones for probably 4 years
We try to reuse them too but have to keep buying new ones anyway because people will throw them out and they generally end up disappearing lol but we definitely reuse them as much as possible!
I genuinely love the foraging decorations. I absolutely HATE looking for decorations at party city or whatever, plus they tend to be really overpriced, and the flowers and foliage looked so cute and way more fun to find. Not to mention free

I’m a teacher and these zero waste vids have encouraged me to try a zero waste project with my class next session. I have no idea how it’ll go, but we’ll see. Roll on August!
!! Fun Fact I justed learned: I live in Germany, a country known as the leading country for recycling - sounds great! BUT: trash is called "recyled" as long as it gets transported to the landfill - regardless of what then happens to it 🙄 most trash gets exported to Asia. I'm shook! Over 20 years I thought it gets melted or burned here in this country. Just as hypocritical as e-cars

Food soiled pizza boxes go into the compost in Ottawa. These are good guidelines overall, but best practice is to check the rules for your city. 🙃

Literally just did a recycling course, you can recycle soiled cardboard, especially pizza boxes as they are mainly oil soiled.

It's weird that soiled pizza boxes can't be put to the compost.
It's because the cardboard is saturated with grease. You don't recycle grease together with cardboard so it was considered contaminated.
