    The flight, operated by the newest MAX in the fleet, C-FHCM, lasted just over an hour, with some spectacular views over the Rockies.
    See what I thought of this historic flight!

    • @bobbraan8706
      @bobbraan8706 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Southwest and Air Canada both had engine issues and had to emergency land on one engine just moving the 737 Max on a ferry flight. What else is wrong with it? They flew for 1.5 years before they started crashing.
      Southwest had a deal with Boeing that it would cost Boeing $1 million per plane if new training was required for the Max.
      That's why MCAS was removed from the flight manual and pilots knew nothing about it. Until they started crashing.

      Really? The company is still being run by the same executives (aside from the CEO who was pushed out). Same structure. Same FAA and other agencies that certified it to begin with. What really changed aside from a second sensor for the MCAS (the fact that it was certified with one is mind boggling), a software update, and a lot of PR?

      Well said. I don't get all these "experts" who refuse to step on to one of these planes. I mean do you really think they would re-certify them after two years without scrutinizing the living hell out of these things?? No way in hell they'd allow them back in the skies unless they were completely satisfied that they're safe to do so. I'll get on one any day.

    I am sure other passengers' hearts were pounding as well but not out of excitement..Did you not feel not even for a moment worried that things could go wrong or if the re-certification has been done in a rush to get them flying? Other than that, it seemed a pleasant flight..Westjet has comfy configuration of 174 pax compared to 189 in Europe or Ryanair's soon-to-be 197pax! Now, comparing takeoff engine sound as an avgeek, which one would say is more exciting, spool-up, roar and everything? 738NG or MAX?

    Just to clarify, that picture on the safety card is of an NG, as the engine cowlings and the tailcone are the two giveaways. Many NGs have been retrofitted with scimitar wingtips.
    Nice report, glad to hear a positive word about the airplane. I really like flying it, an know it will be the safest airplane in the sky now.

    I would have to say at this point out of any new aircraft I may trust this one more they've been up it with a fine-tooth comb and they better have it right

    • @bobbraan8706

      Hardly a fine tooth comb. A warning light stopped the very first flight. Passengers had to take a 787 instead.
      25 737 Max are grounded again because fuel sealer is missing which could cause a fire.
      After two 737 Max had to emergency land on one engine.
      One mistake after another.

    i would like to know if the airlines will be caused to advise us when we book a ticket if it will be the case that we will be flying on the Max, so we may choose and not wait until getting to the airport to find out, and also, if we say we won't fly on it will they change our ticket for free. I doubt either of those will occur, i am not so convinced of the transparency you speak about.
