Such problems only occur when driving short distances. My Mercedes regenerates its DPF after exactly 1000 km and everything is fine. The vehicle now has almost 300,000 km with the first DPF and I know people who are still traveling over 800,000 km with the first DPF. The problem is the people who buy the wrong car. I had dpf problems a couple of months ago but it was the pressure sensor that was goosed. Cars running like new now after being fixed. My garage said they’ve never had to replace a dpf on a merc but have replaced on every other make of car.
The dpf pressure sensor is very common, but the dpf can get blocked if the engine does not regenerate the dpf, which happens when driven in town too much and not on the motorway, as long as you take it for a good motorway run often, the dpf should never give you problems..
I would never reset dpf value without checking back pressure on dpf after cleaning or after fitting new one so many new parts are shot in current time even when buying directly from Mercedes that is very dangerous I don’t know if you done it because it doesn’t says on video but otherwise great job
I had my DPF clean & flush ( DPF wasn't taken off the car ), replace a pressure sensor also regenerate and the issue still remains ( engine management light on ) . When I took the car back to the garage I was told that I need to replace the DPF having already spent over £300 . Any advice would be much appreciated
You're doing it wrong!! You should wash it in reverse flow, from exhaust to turbocharger. The way you did it you removed only soot which is not a problem, noncombustible ashes are still clogging dpf and are the main cause why dpf loose capacity and need more frequent regeneration.

Agreed. I own 2 Cummins, one pre-emmissions M11 and an early emissions ISB (no DEF). The M11 service intervals are twice that of the ISB and I don't have the issue of soot being pumped back into the engine (no EGR cleaning). sounds good, but I heard, the wet method of cleaning is not so good because of residual humidity and water will stay in the filter and around and can cause going rusty ... is this right?
I doubt that. Once the engine gets hot, mind you this is the exhaust side, it evaporates. Vapour will travel out of the exhaust with the force coming from the engine. It will come out just as normal exhaust would
GREAT video! My USA model 2009 GL320 is burning oil like a quart every 500-700 miles. DPF code on, and power loss. Hope it can be removed like you did. What if the guts were knocked out of it to unclog it and you put it back on? Will the diesel still run? Less restriction probably a wonderful thing.
I don't know about the Mercedes diesels, but the Cummins, Powerstrokes and Duramax run great with the DPF core removed. You have to trick a couple of sensors or add a tuner to avoid a check engine light. I unplugged my EGR valve in the closed position and have a check engine light that is on all the time. Since I'm used to ignoring the TPMS warning lights it doesn't really bother me.
I wonder if they'll design these systems to work better down the line. They shouldn't get blocked or at least Mercedes should offer 1 free replacement on every diesel car to deal with emissions. Nice video man! It looks like you washed that into a normal ground water drain, you shouldn't do this as the oil and chemicals will go straight to our rivers. It's better for the environment if you at least wash it into a sewer, like through your sink, or even some kind of chemical tank.
@Cars And Rentals my garage drains don't do that more do any I have seen. Only commercial premises do that usually.

My gosh, this stuff is around anyway, it comes out of exhausts, and is washed down by rain. It's carbon.

If I correct informed- that is a Metall mesh Filter which resistent over 800* C
@@tobiasherrmann5817 Metal corrodes.
@Starstrike because if you damage it you'll have a permanent check engine light. some countries won't let you register your car if it has any fault codes.
This just happened to me, needs cleaning as well.
Shame I am nowhere near your shop, would have loved to see you do it :)
Just make some holes on the dpf,no need for cleaning and wasting money, that worked for me
5:30 you cracked DPF ... wet DPF can not go to car ... it's reason why is 0,0% fill 😂 nice job 🤣🤣
@Martyn Watson I know. But the gaps i filter are small and water vapor raises the pressure ... and ceramic crack between the gaps ... why DPF need to be in 60-80°C About 3-4h become dry.

Nice, All the dirt goes now to the Thames River.
anyone unfamiliar should look into how this problem is addressed on teir 4 compliant farm tractors . Not the answer for all but informative .
What's the solution ?
I had dpf problems a couple of months ago but it was the pressure sensor that was goosed.
Cars running like new now after being fixed.
My garage said they’ve never had to replace a dpf on a merc but have replaced on every other make of car.
The dpf pressure sensor is very common, but the dpf can get blocked if the engine does not regenerate the dpf, which happens when driven in town too much and not on the motorway, as long as you take it for a good motorway run often, the dpf should never give you problems..
MercMan Tips
When I got it back & got the engine warm it got a good run as they say.
Didn’t know how quick it was. 😂😂
Would it be possible for you to do a video on changing the vacuum pump on a w204
C250 cdi
That is why dpf filter is bullshit for environment. Only a meaning for cars constructors to be In Line with their obligation co2.
Did you do a pressure differential test before and after to confirm increase in flow?
I would never reset dpf value without checking back pressure on dpf after cleaning or after fitting new one so many new parts are shot in current time even when buying directly from Mercedes that is very dangerous I don’t know if you done it because it doesn’t says on video but otherwise great job
I had my DPF clean & flush ( DPF wasn't taken off the car ), replace a pressure sensor also regenerate and the issue still remains ( engine management light on ) . When I took the car back to the garage I was told that I need to replace the DPF having already spent over £300 . Any advice would be much appreciated

Will this work for gasoline engine catalytic converter?
Hi mate, thanks for the video.
How difficult was it to remove the DPF from the car?
Cheers
Did this method reduce the ash content of the DPF too?
You're doing it wrong!! You should wash it in reverse flow, from exhaust to turbocharger. The way you did it you removed only soot which is not a problem, noncombustible ashes are still clogging dpf and are the main cause why dpf loose capacity and need more frequent regeneration.
True bro👌
no no, he made a video on this subject and put it on TH-cam, so he is now a trained professional expert on diesel exhaust value and emission regulation systems, lmao
@@gidoe4441 So proffesional that he installed the filter completely filled with water. The channels you see are only one part of equation. The whole filter is encased in porous ceramical material and rockwool. If they are damp, they might crack the filter as the water won't have quick path of escape when heated to 300-600c.
I found the best way to clean your dpf is to cut it off... The same goes with the egr valve ! Let that diesel to breathe
Agreed. I own 2 Cummins, one pre-emmissions M11 and an early emissions ISB (no DEF). The M11 service intervals are twice that of the ISB and I don't have the issue of soot being pumped back into the engine (no EGR cleaning). I have since disabled the EGR system on the ISB and it runs cooler with noticibly more power.

How did you reset the dpf management light after mate or does this automatically reset 👍
Do it backwards as then the filter will blow it out the way it went in, then try an active regen.
Do you think you reduce pollution by dumping all that polluted water into the sewer? There are machines that do it, but the water that goes to the sewer must be filtered so as not to damage the groundwater and the environment.
Hello there, I am hoping to get some advice before purchase. Vehicle in question 2014 GLK250 w/ OM651 2.1 liter
I inspected the vehicle and test drove it today with some findings from my OBD2, it appears there may be some DTCs my scanner is unable to read because it gave a message indicating something along those lines.
Detectable codes are as follows:
p2201 Nox Sensor circuit range/performance Bank1
P2033 EGT Sensor circuit high bank 1 sensor 2
P2084 EGT Sensor circuit range/performance bank 1 sensor 2
P2201 code repeated
Check engine light on and constant. Drive-ability was good, nothing abnormal noted. Tailpipes appeared to have some sort of white corrosion/powdering on them? This is my first experience with a MB diesel since w123 300TD, so quite a bit is new to me. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. The only repairs I could find in service records were for an ECM reprogram, a key replacement, and a non-descript "wiring repair." Only recall outstanding on carfax was Takata passenger airbag.
My A class has this issue
Hoping my mechanic doesn’t need to get a new one
Some vaules shown on diagnostic software are not the same. For example, total distance is on the begining 145.000 and at the end of clip is 65.000. Why?
Does clogged DPF causes low acceleration in my 20 yr old OM646? Mileage is 183k km on odometer
if i cant find this wynns cleaner in my country what alternatives can i use?
You can use pipe cleaner (granulated) and hydrochloric acid. Watch the channel from (pfuisi). This guy show’s this method. Best regards from Polska/Germany... Łukasz
Try hot water and caustic soda, sprinkle caustic so sreat in after boiling water scoops at a time !
Fill level is determined by mileage no? Once you reset the interval, it thinks its just a fresh DPF.
why not start the manual regeneration? Or reset and have a spirited drive or rent a big trailer if you have a tow hook
Why didn’t you do a forced regen?
Was thinking the same thats what i do on mine
Never knew you could wear what’s found in a DPD.
wiht clean DPF your emissions will be clean...but.....eeeehhh....did you contaminated the ground?
sounds good, but I heard, the wet method of cleaning is not so good because of residual humidity and water will stay in the filter and around and can cause going rusty ... is this right?
I doubt that. Once the engine gets hot, mind you this is the exhaust side, it evaporates. Vapour will travel out of the exhaust with the force coming from the engine. It will come out just as normal exhaust would
Nice Channel! Is that strategy almost for every Cat useable?
Yeah this is way better for the environment
Since I'm used to ignoring the TPMS warning lights it doesn't really bother me.
if you get a chance to do another DPF... PLEASE FIND a WHITE PAINT floor and wall

hello, how did You reset the DPF in Xentry? thanks!
I wonder if they'll design these systems to work better down the line. They shouldn't get blocked or at least Mercedes should offer 1 free replacement on every diesel car to deal with emissions. With this lockdown everywhere diesel cars won't be driving and if they do, it'll be very short distances which isn't good.
Well to be honest these diesel cars are not designed for town driving, so if your mainly going to be doing town driving you should be driving a petrol, a diesel engine is for the motorways..
@@mercmantips Agreed. I mainly do motorway driving but now with all the lockdown restrictions in my country, I now only do a short trip once a week to the store. So I worry now about the dpf. It is a 2015 W212 E350 Bluetech.

Some people say that deleting dpf is solution but! On yearly car check when they measure exhaust they will see that your dpf is non functional!
if you have a shit mapper they will
I like where I live they don’t check exhaust emissions on gas or diesel vehicles we only have the safety inspection
well depends on the limits in your legislation. Usually their pretty high for a modern car. A good map is important although the stock one is usually good enough to pass the emissions test
No emissions checks on diesels here in Maryland or any other state that I have lived in.
nice vid but a blocked dpf is only a symptom, they are able to clean themselves up. the root cause of why it gets blocked need to be addressed, otherwise it will come back after a while.
also use the pressure washer in both directions
