Thank you so much for this video! I was afraid to open the 3DS but I've followed your instructions to the letter and been super careful and I finally have an actual circle pad instead of that weird stick
🤠 I ordered a 2-pack of those circle pad replacement caps from an ebay seller in China & they sent with tracking even though it was only $2.71 AUD / $1.79 USD. There's even a choice of light grey / dark grey / black / white colours. What's left of my original circle pad is that cap you were playing with at the end of the video. I simply superglue it on the stick & she'll stay on for about a year. Last time it fell, it fell on my face & I thought it was a cockroach & I completely freaked out.
Absolute legend! Thank you so much! I had a special edition Pikachu 3DS XL and I was so upset when something snapped in the joy stick... Now it's replaced and working smoothly again so thank you so so much!
Thanks a lot for this guide! Now, maybe this could help someone, I struggled while putting back the white thing to the circle pad and then, after i locked it in and screwed, i discovered that the pad was locked. The second time it didnt go back to its original position. So i decided to sligthly unscrew the screws, checked if the white thing was moving around (it wasnt) and then i closed it. The pad broke a lot of years ago so i did not remember if i was the same kind of problem with the pad and if i should have completely changed the white thing, but now it seems to work smoothly even though the pad is in hard plastic
I got the new thumbstick in with the washer but when I put the white back piece in and fit it, the thumstick does not snap back and forth it's just loose still. What am I doing wrong? When I fit the white back piece is tightens back up just fine so that's what confuses me.
I have a smaller sized one. For some reason I have bad luck on finding ones that are a bit bigger than the other one. Will the small one work or not really?
ami the only person struggling to unscrew the little screws after you open the back at first and remove the battery i only got 1 screw lose the others are impossible to unscrew makes me wanne break the 3ds i have ngl
@@PleasantBoy i found a video that is for my model but the creator said to use the wrong screwdriver. Ended up threading the screws and when i got them out the bottom of the screws were stuck in the ds so i couldnt close it properly plus the casing was all cracked :( had it for 9 years so ended up buying a new one
@@crowcified I'm really sorry that happened, it sucks :( I bought a triple zero screwdriver and I think that one's correct? Would you recommend that I still check the other person's video out or should I use this one

This video helped a lot when replacing my circle pad! Without it I probably wouldn’t’ve fixed it.
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the in depth video guide, I fixed my old 3DS XL with a broken circle pad (due to Smash 3DS) now because of this video!

Thank you so much! I'm not very good at these things generally but this was so easy to follow along and it's all worked out :))
Glad I could help!
Mine broke today after 11 years.
RIP :(
Seems to be about the lifespan of a pad.

Does the regular 3DS work the same way? I saw a guide where it told people to take the entire motherboard out. Im hoping I do not have to do this. 😅
you dont hasve to take the entire motherboard out, however there are ribbon cables that connect the R and L buttons

You play kid icarus Uprising? You have been updated to chad status in my eyes.
One thing I didn’t understand; what exactly do we have to do with the washer?
You put it under the circle pad that you put in the console from the front, if i had to guess its there to make the stick move smoother.
I had to drill open two of the srews because the heads were already deformed even though I opened it for the first time😂
Nice job dude
My new 3ds xl circle pad began to stick. My character would have a hard time moving in game

I'm wondering this too, did you try fixing it yet?
