13 Expensive Nintendo Handhelds - But They're BROKEN - I paid $1824 for over a dozen broken special edition Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL handhelds. Love to see you looking happy and healthy Steve!
I miss the older Nintendo handheld repair videos like this, they’re my favorite!
Yes! Me too!
I like the mixer repairs Best.
Mixer episode was solid!! @@galvanizedgnome
@@Alex_dlc same-!!! These are awesome videos
Same ❤
Looking great bro!
Always love the bulk repairs and looking great again Steve! 🍻
You look great, man! So happy to see you getting better.
The first 3ds you fixed, where you showed those different, very tiny ribbon cable connectors, are exactly what I broke on my wifes new 3ds when I attempted to replace her busted screen. I managed to successfully get the new screen put back in, and had the whole thing reassembled. But it wouldn't power on. I opened it back up, and that was when those tiny pieces began to just fall right off. I don't have the tools, or skills to fix that small of pieces unfortunately.
Hi Steve I love watching your videos they are very informative and entertaining & enjoyable to watch great to see that your treatment is working well . My sister has cancer and she is in remission but it's been a journey with her all the best from England.
The worst part about #5 is now you don't know if the parts you replaced before the motherboard swap are fine or not (wifi card, lower screen).
Yeah, would take a lot of independent testing of components to know that. And probably not much video use for it. Unless people want to see him testing parts for 20 minutes.
I just finished replacing the screen of a 3ds xl like 20 minutes. Nice coincidence. It was a nightmarish repair tho, those hinges do not mess around.
Yeah my first time was repairing 2 displays of the 'new' 3ds xl variants. I hated those hinges more then anything and finally figuring out the hinge pin was a piss off aswell

The fun fact about the popping noise in number 5 is that its usually a screen connection issue, caused by either bad ribbon socket connections or a damaged ribbon cable. It can also be other things but more often than not its related to that.
Love these Nintendo handheld videos way more than the big console videos
Only ever fixed one DS - was sooo fiddly I vowed never again. Full credit to you for tackling all of those! Looking forward to part 2! 👏
Man I'm glad you're looking better, you really were an inspiration for me to start repairing my own stuff, i hope that with enough practice i can start my own repair shop.
you're looking great man! also, I miss the bulk repairs, they're what got me into fixing!
That New 2DS XL is my holy grail, the one one day i will own! Can't wait for steve to have a go at it and bring it back to life!
I am attempting to repair a New2DS xL myself, where the R connector was ripped from it's place and there's 2 traces gone. It will be my first time soldering copper wires, so wish me luck!
Good luck! Hope it goes well.
Fire Emblem mentioned! best video game series ever! Looks over at my awakening 3ds and fates 3ds xl lol Happy you saved the coolest looking DS ever made!
Great video, dude! You're looking better than ever. I'm really happy to see that!
Been watching for a couple of years now, and have gotten into fixing my own old broken consoles in the last few months. You're looking great!
I sold that zelda edition 2ds complete in box in mint condition for 200 because i needed the money i dint even want to look how much its worth now
Yeah, don't look, lol.
I had a Zelda edition 3ds that was in perfect condition too, complete in box. Gave it away, wish I hadn't 😄
You have some serious patience and dexterity. I recently put together my first raspberry pi build and just screwing the board into the case was a struggle with my huge fingers 😄Immediately thought of your videos and wished I had a pair of tweezers 😄
WOW I clicked on the video just to see a little bit of the repairs and before I know it, 34 minutes had passed. I was literally shocked when you said that you need to split the video :D Thank you for making these repairs so interesting!
15:50 so impressed! My hands have always been waaaayyyy too shaky to do anything like this.
I used to paint and build model cars and planes as a kid. I would get so frustrated trying to steady my hands to glue on the tiny parts. Not sure if that’s even a thing kids know about that hobby these days since they used to be common to have in the toy section of dept stores and I haven’t seen them outside hobby shops for YEARS.
I would have to say no, most kids don't bother with building models these days. It's much more of a niche hobbyist thing. Most kids are more interested in Fortnite, Minecraft, Tik Tok...that sort of stuff lol
I can imagine the frustration trying to build models with unsteady hands. I built a few simple ones when I was a kid. Played more with lego sets though 😃
looking great Steve! enjoyed this one a lot!
You look like you're getting back to better health and it shows! So glad you're still around and here to do these videos🎉
The board isnt bent, its just happy to see you!
Thanks for making my day better every time you upload! I’ve been watching you for years and you’re the reason why I can actually repair all my consoles :)
Love the persistence you have with these. Never surrender!
im freaking glad to see he is recovering. really got sad to know the news but seeing him this good is so wholesome
You and my mom got cancer this year and I'm happy that both of you are looking good and healthy right now.
I dont know why !? I never liked you man, but I came here to see are you well and did you win . And I am glad you are :D
Yeah well, I never liked you either.
Lol, JK. Thanks for the comment and the laugh
Just repaired my first og Xbox by recapping it. Thanks to your videos I had a little confidence and know how to get it done. Save the consoles!
Always a delight to watch your videos while eating 😅
Back in old shape and glory.
I'm happy to see that.
We need more vids like these, i love them! Also, i have a question. If a ps5 suddenly turned off and doesnt wanna turn back on, what *could* it mean. Just want your opinion on it Steve.
Oh man, Steve! Completely gutted right there with you on #5 with every swap you did. That click when it turns off is such a disheartening feeling every time you think you have it fixed, and then you get the pop of death to destroy your optimism!
Well done on persevering and getting it fixed in the end though! Looking forward to part 2!
Honestly my favorite thing to do is to watch these 3ds repair videos, I also do like the detailed ps4/ps5 xbox one/x series s/x videos. But nothing is better then watching you repair these 3ds systems.
Also on the white model you repaired, the only thing you did to fix that one was to reseat that 1 ribbon cable. Does anyone know what cable that's for? Cause I've noticed that if it isn't seated correctly it causes the system to take a little bit to boot up then it makes a popping sound and shuts off. That's why I had to reseat when I took apart my new 3ds xl and it turned on instantly
love these videos man, glad to see more
Dude, you're looking great! Amazing video as always Steve!
That's what I love to see, consoles getting fixed, good return on investment and Steve looking GREAT!
Looking great, Steve!
Thank you for being there. 🙏
Glad to found your channel, and you are doing better, made myself to make enough courage to start messing around with electronics to fix stuff.
Nice to See you healthy After all you gone trough! Is it possible to Buy a working one off from you?😊
love the content on handhelds!
Looking amazing brother!
Looking good Steve! These videos are so oddly therapeutic 😂.
I just bought a soldering station because of you're channel.
i love seeing you fixing some stuff.. ^_^ so authentic your reaction when u get it fix :D keep the videos coming!
Glad to see you are looking pretty well!
When you take off the bezels, use a heat gun to soften the glue, that’s what I do, and it avoids breaking the thin plastic.
Great fix as always Steve! Look forward to the next!!
Love the handheld repairs 🥰
You're looking great my dude!
21:00 thats insane. the amt of corrosion on that board, esp around and under those chips, shouldve been this things death sentence. incredible.
Hey Steve, you missed one loose screw on the second 3DS, the blue Pokemon 3DS XL!
You can see it in the video around 8:20 in the top right that it's still dangling there when you put the back cover on
What is a good place to buy replacement parts for these 3ds's? I would like to fix mine but don't know where to get good parts.( parts like a upper screen or a digitizer or that hindge thing). thanks for the awsome content.
I have a can of BW-100 sitting. I haven't had a reason to use it yet. Also I had to use a Fluke multimeter just like that in my basic electrical circuits class yesterday to build my first complex circuit. Take care.
this is so amazing to watch i love these videos
Where do you get your replacement batteries for the N3DS? I waited too long to buy one and Nintendo doesn't sell them anymore. I'm too chicken to just buy a battery somewhere, because who knows if it's one more charge away from combusting or something.
🤯 The Price for those handhelds !!! 😲
Great Video ! 🥳😎 !
Yeah the prices are now "collector item" territory. I hope some manufacturer makes "2DSXL" replacement consoles. The original ones are getting old.
Those top screen ribbons situation, what a nightmare!
Dang it, this video is gonna make me want another “New” 3DS (non-xl version). I sold it a while back to get a 2DS XL and then I regretted not just keeping it and still getting the 2DS.
This reminds me of the old Nintendo Switches video you did before! Also, where do you sell the consoles you fix?
21:00
"That is crazy, I can't believe"
Sorin is that you?
The 3DS XL classic edition is my favorite DS console to repair, but the new version is my nemesis. They just cheaped out too much.
i love the series you have done so far with lots of items.
I love the 3ds Repairs’s videos .. I’d love to get that hyrule 2dsxl
You're looking a lot better now. Hope you're doing well.
11:48 thats what I would do! Practise on the scrap part and do an immaculate job and get over confident for the part that actually matters. I bet he is just a human!
From 2:50-3:00
If theres anything i learned about repairs / fragile things, when it comes to ribbon cables like that and im not certain wether a connector pops up or not, i usually just put a certain ammount of force and if it bends before snapping then i take the idea that maybe this just pulls out, but this is also why i thuroughly research all over before commiting to expensive repairs, which is why im here 😁
Maybe what’s wrong with number 5 is that it has “magic” installed, but a really old version of “magic”, previous versions required to have the files for the “magic” on the sd card to turn on, you can try downloading the “magic” files even if they’re new, it’s supposed to turn on if it detects the files and update them if they’re a new version, it’s something I have encountered a lot since the close of the eshop
Grats on getting the sponsor. Finally
34:03 you finally fixed NES Retro A, did you enter its sold price incorrectly in your spreadsheet?
7:40 sick transition bro
You got this! Always love your vids
I'll give you a good tip! If you like DS consoles on these are the flex cables from the schanier Länger and you get them much better!
I love the 3ds videos, you are my biggest inspiration for my own channel :)
You look great dude, happy to see it, keep up the good work and God bless
Glad your in better helth now. Keep on fixing!
You look fully recovered, Congrats
3DS is my favorite console ever!!! I love these videos!!
Glad seeing u getting better bless ya
Nicely done Steve!😊
I should start making videos like this. Except it will just be one video titled "I bought a broken DS Lite and didn't fix it".
Love the videos. Keep up the amazing work.
My man Steve! Tackling Tech and Kicking Cancer's Ass! 😤💪
As a small repair business owner I agree 200%.As i live and work in a relatively poor country,(Greece),good news is that many people bother to seek repairs even for cheap devices, like crappy old laptops, or 100 euro tv sets.Keeps our lights on but still it's not a profession to become rich...
Lmao the last one was an unintentional shell swap.
@17:00 I think you put the broches under than over, so there will be no contact with the ribon electrical lines and also you won't be able to lock it well.
#4 - a good ultrasonic bath and a charged battery, it would probably work better than one might think. Sell for $75 with "thoroughly cleaned and repaired after liquid damage"
I was also thinking an ultrasonic clean would've been good enough to get that one in sellable condition.
Even swapping the motherboard would've been fine too IMO (but disclose to buyer).
You look great, healthy and happy
looking great bud!!!
Glad to see you doing well 👍
I had a t v that wouldn't boot up and so I opened it and all that was wrong was that it was just extremely dirty. Now it's working like nothing ever happened
Where did you manage to find all this console to repair?
Various places online. Quite a few from eBay. This is literally months of years of buying them though
Man are the little black lock things available for purchase because would be another solution to have the ribbon cable in
Hi Steve just wanted to remind you that you forgot to thighten a screw top right corner on the blue ds @ 8:23 in the video
Bummer that you had to change basically all the innards in the snes one. But maybe you can sell (or use) the board to salvage the chips and parts that might still work.
i always test all the components on the motherboard before i put it all together again. saves time if something in the top doesn't work.
