The G virus is still the most badass thing they've come up with in the entire Resident Evil franchise. I wish they'd bring it back for another go and explore it further.

All the chaos we witnessed of the g-virus on its own now replaced with order and efficiency. The infected would grow stronger and maintain perfect mutation when damaged. Here’s another nightmare that Hypnos G is capable of in theory: g larva no longer require compatibility, instead they take the dna of its maker and those infected with the larva, wipes out all the weak genes of the dna it extracts and bonds all the strong dna, a newborn humanoid ripping its way out of their carrier, eventually growing into a fully formed, monster pi’s, humanoid adult with strength, speed and ferocity that could only be brought down by the complete destruction of the creature.

There is a T+G Virus created from the T and G viruses. The man who made it turned into a Tyrant with an electromagnetic force-field around his body, preventing normal guns from hurting him. Chris Redfield had to use a railgun to damage this Tyrant, causing it to mutate like Birkin does.
I suspect that it likes the sewers/ water due to the heat generated by the constant mitosis/increased bio mass. It likely needs this to avoid cooking itself. I'm unsure why Burken doesn't cook himself though

It's not brought up a lot in the games but the herbs don't actually stop the virus, there's just a significant portion of the population (10% iirc) who are immune to the T Virus, and the protagonists of the first few games all happen to be people who are immune

If I remember correctly, the difference between T and G is that T infects all while G can only successfully infect the same dna of the original virus carrier. Hence why Birkin needed Sherry and not anyone else, with the incomplete adults are unsuccessful infections which cannot successfully breed either. This results in further incomplete adults which are all rapidly mutated and unable to process G, which requires either a direct injection (possibly in doses, perhaps if Birkin wasn't infected while dying he'd have adapted differently though the first CG movie with Leon shows that it likely wouldn't have happened that way.) or transference into a compatible Dna host like Sherry was for William. G induces a deep desire to breed in a sense, so the infected (via direct injection) search out compatible Dna to their own to propagate properly, though they can produce improper offspring that, while deformed and likely to die soon after gestation, will live somewhat. Just not to the extent a proper offspring would. Sherry would go on to develop enhanced healing and other abilities due to undergoing the process from her father though the Devil Vaccine would terminate the embryo and her body would absorb it instead of it transforming her. As for the t-virus outbreak in Raccoon, it was rats ingesting the vials of destroyed Virus containers that were broken when Birkin transformed and went after the Umbrella Security Service. I recommend Project Umbrella if you'd like to see more. News Bot has access to resources that few others do in regards to the series.

But there was a study that showed how as adults identical twins can have certain variations in their genome that will affect their off spring based on environmental stressors. It's interesting that these creatures are so much bigger than their host or the crawler that slithers out of the host's corpse. Perhaps the slimy matrix left by these things is the discarded cocoons when they grow so fast. They appear to be made of the same fleshy material that their bodies are composed of.

When was it confirmed that G stood for Golgotha? Been a fan for years and this is news to me. Always believed it stood for God Virus as the antidote is DEVIL.
Probably is both tbh, Golgotha is what it is called, so G virus follows, but isnt golgotha the god virus too?
It was meant to be the route humans could get to god, it led to the devil.
It was in the original to be called the God virus (or so thought by the creator of the virus), so the antidote was called the Devil to be fitting.
Golgotha "mountain of skulls" for the uninitiated.
Fun fact! : The G-Virus use to be short for the “God-Virus”, that’s why the cure for it, the antidote/vaccine is known as Devil. They kept that name to this day in the remake of RE2

If I remember correctly, the difference between T and G is that T infects all while G can only successfully infect the same dna of the original virus carrier. Hence why Birkin needed Sherry and not anyone else, with the incomplete adults are unsuccessful infections which cannot successfully breed either. This results in further incomplete adults which are all rapidly mutated and unable to process G, which requires either a direct injection (possibly in doses, perhaps if Birkin wasn't infected while dying he'd have adapted differently though the first CG movie with Leon shows that it likely wouldn't have happened that way.) or transference into a compatible Dna host like Sherry was for William. G induces a deep desire to breed in a sense, so the infected (via direct injection) search out compatible Dna to their own to propagate properly, though they can produce improper offspring that, while deformed and likely to die soon after gestation, will live somewhat. Just not to the extent a proper offspring would. Sherry would go on to develop enhanced healing and other abilities due to undergoing the process from her father though the Devil Vaccine would terminate the embryo and her body would absorb it instead of it transforming her.
As for the t-virus outbreak in Raccoon, it was rats ingesting the vials of destroyed Virus containers that were broken when Birkin transformed and went after the Umbrella Security Service.

Am i the only one who thinks "progenitor virus" is pretty much the dumbest possible name? I literally means predecessor. And while it's obvious that people developed the T and G virus out of it who could have known it at the time? The conversation probably went something like this.
"Hey! i discovered this new virus!"
"Neat! What do you wanna call it?"
"Well Progenitor Virus of course."
"What? Why would you want to call it Progenitor?"
"Shut up. I'm hinting at the iconic T-virus here we will develop in a couple of years!"
