Was it ever confirmed Miranda would be able to bring her daughter back? I was under the impression the mold had everyone's mind it touched. That it would be a mash up of all the minds and not just one person in particular.
It’s hard to say really since Ethan’s daughter Rose still maintained who she is after the ceremony so I think whatever of Evie from RE7 was in Rose from both her parents who were infected by Evie was stronger than the original organism in RE8. Miranda’s daughters conscious would had to have been strong enough to overpower Rose’s in order to work but in the end Rose was stronger possibly due to her genetic makeup from her parents and whatever created Evie
@@Mirnum007 My question is, how would she even *know* if she brought her back in a different body? She was just a baby at the time. For all we know, Eveline was actually a successful resurrection attempt who ended up having a crippling condition and strange powers. After that, this was simply who Evie became.
@@Quirderph Evie was the most viable candidate for sure so I’m not sure why Miranda didn’t just take Evie (I’d have to go back to the story to find out why) I suppose as a mother Miranda just knows her child and would have been able to tell based on her connection to the hive mind and recognize her daughters consciousness. I think Rose’s was able to stand above it all because Ethan is her father and we saw in RE7 how he was able to resist Evie’s control when he was infected and just his sheer determination to even survive got passed down to Rose and yes she was a baby at the time but those characteristics were certainly shown at the end of the game when we see Rose grown up

There wasn't any DNA added, it was simply the Cadou pressing randomiser until it decided it was happy with its work. The mold contains all of the DNA already as is, so Miranda didn't add anything herself. Moreau also turned into what he is immediately based on Miranda's writing, as the books we find in her lab seem to be findings based on the immediate days after the Cadou implantation on all four lords. Dimitrescu most likely turned into her dragon form as a result of the tests determining the limit of her regeneration, but didn't affect her height in general. The book also mentions how Heisenberg developed an organ similar to electric eels which is what allows him to control metal. Because of this I would assume the only thing that could have changed in Moreau's appearance was the skin around his back which got torn apart, but the effect on his brain and cognitive abilities along with the formation of the swim bladder and other fish like elements were immediate. The lycans were Moreau's experiments with the mold (and Cadous?) which I actually might wager were started just to get Moreau away as much as possible, or Miranda simply expected them to be failures and wanted to get powerful pawns so she simply told him to use wolf DNA in them because it's probably the most logical and easiest to utilise. Pack mentality, still intelligent, strong and fast, etc. Edit: I wrote Moreau as Moroe so I fixed it, tho I think his name should've been spelled like that just for the pun
@@TheVeiledMonarch hmm, could be that one of those eels ended up in contact with the mold at some point, or an animal with a similar organ (such as another species of eel) existed within the mold's "archives" and it simply evolved into something closer to the Japanese eel during the cadou implantation... Sort of like convergent evolution where two species evolve to have similar traits as survival tactics, like spikes on hedgehogs and lesser hedgehog tenrecs, the tenrec is more closely related to elephants than African or European hedgehogs despite the similar appearance.
I think out of all the Lords I do feel bad for him the most because he got it the worst with a very horrible mutation to the point where if he was basically struggling to live. And he really just want it to be noticed the only question I had was I find it odd that he’s the one who does the werewolf experiments for some reason I figured it would’ve been Heisenberg
Countries that had picked a side weren’t allowed to make international papers about things going on outside of the war to avoid any other conflict. Spain was the only neutral country at the time, and was the only country able to put papers out about it.
Moreau watching a romantic film or series on the TV is probably referencing the original idea for him where he had a girlfriend who'd be fused into his back when he mutated.
Salamander seems to be the go-to creature that Capcom goes to when it comes to designing monster mutations. I’ve seen a number of enemies in the RE series that are based on a Salamander.
We actually know, why Spanish flu was so deadly - it included genetic code, that triggered cytokine storm. Stronger immune system is, more damage it can deal to your own body, if set in self-destruct mode, which is pretty much what cytokine storm is. Which is why Spanish flu was most deadly for young adults, while children and elderly, who didn't have strong immune system, handled it a lot easier.
It's weird how both the progenitor virus and the myocyt tend to create mutations where there's multiple bodies fused and there's a hierarchy of minds involved in controlling the bodies. I imagine these creatures struggle with a variety of disadvantages with this arrangement and probably wouldn't survive for long. Can you do a video discussing this phenomenon? What would it feel like? How would this effect any human minds involved? Is it truly multiple separate conciousness or is there a central hive mind controlling the bodies and it simply makes the bodies behave differently because of their physical design and there is no real separate entities controlling the bodies?
One thing I am thinking is that those tentacles we saw when he was speaking are similar to the lung like apparatus on lung fish. They are basically inside out lungs in the shape of wiskers.
I really appreciated the detective angle you took where you incorporated the assumed psychological behaviors that would have backed up his transformation.
I dunno if you really care to take suggestions from comments, but for a future game virus discussion, I'd love to hear your takes on like, Scarlet Rot from Elden Ring or some other disease from Souls games, though it might end up being very research intensive to dig up the lore on it all and make sure it's right. Your videos have been great to listen to while working on college projects.
Someone said that Moreau's final form bears a striking resemblance to OG Nemesis final form....and now I can't unsee it... *So this is what we could have had instead of what we got..*
To be fair, I thought Nemesis’ quadrupedal form in the RE3 Remake could have worked, if it was actually saved for the very end and not brought out so early during the clocktower. I can imagine it being fun, if the final boss fight started with that hellhound form, and you needed to blow off pieces of it, until he finally resembles the original’s final form. The rail cannon’s first direct hit could blow off one of the arms, which gets replaced by a leftover tentacle. The next hit could decapitate Nemesis and tear open his chest cavity, forcing the parasite to expose itself and the host’s body to crawl around like Moreau’s form.
@@markcobuzzi826 See that? You came up with a much more well thought out and interesting boss fight than the "professionals" who actually made the game! It's honestly just sad how little effort was put into the final product smh

thank you for the compliment! I looked at some of the art and apparently theres just one giant one located on the lower cervical, upper thoracic spine area, but who knows, its always possible
Moreau is such a tragic character when you think about it. The dude was absolutely fucked up by Miranda's experiments, both physically and mentally, and she practically denounced him as her "son", despite told him otherwise in the first place. When you bring up what was most likely happening to him and why it was happening, it just makes his character/story arc even more depressing.
A question, Roanoke, could those green bubble stuff been algae? I mean they do have that green shade to them, especially that iridescent light effect on them when there's light bouncing off their surface. Also, thank you for the effort of making this video in particular, been waiting for it:)
theory i think he was trying to help at the end when he said Miranda instead of mother he sounded different and he said i cannot hold it back any longer
Love the vids. Not coming from a scientific background but I always thought that he was technically 2 entities, the one that talks being part parasite and the fish being a big fish that he pilots around.
The thing about Mother Miranda's plan to resurrect Eva, though: It wouldn't have worked. You see, we know from RE7 what happens when the Megamycete is used to duplicate someone that is already dead: You get THE MOLDED. It can only preserve their mind and memories if they are still alive when initially exposed. Dead people just become lumps of mobile mold. Eva's body was exposed, but she was already dead and had been dead a while, so the megamycete had absolutely no way to 'record' her mind and personality. So Miranda's 'resurrected Eva' would absolutely NOT have been her daughter. Eva wasn't in there. Just a mindless mold monster like any of the other Molded Ethan fought at the Baker plantation. She was just deluding herself into thinking that would work, and that Eva had been saved and was awaiting a new body to be placed in.
Never played this RE but anytime I saw Moreau, I thought he was infected much worse than the others. Always guess he had fish dna but never salamander, and I thought the fish was infected or had parasites. The first monster appearance had all the worms wriggling out and the last one had him functioning like the tongue of the fish, which is a surprisingly normal type of parasitism with some species of isopods.
Marou makes it clear his bonding with Cadou is not perfect. He mutates somewhat randomly because of this. Causing his ugly form and twisted mutations, however he does have some control. Able to delay mutations via will as the parasite is attached to his brain I believe. Though it originates in attaching to the heart I believe. He is able to exert what control he has to manipulate his mutations to a point, but it is implied by a book that is found near the end that he will eventually degenerate into a broken mutation that becomes mindless and possibly mutates itself to death eventually.
@@marcofioretti6908 Not currently, but I do have biases I need to sort out. Now, a few should pats and a "It'll be ok" are within my abilities. Doesn't negate the fact that Moreau deserves a hug from someone
Awesome vid, in Miranda lab there actually a sketch that show she put three parasites in his body, and combine with your video i can definitely see that there may have definitely been a grudge
So, Moreau’s voice actor said what his backstory was in an interview, and it’s pretty sad. “Moreau was once a schoolteacher that lived in the village. However upon accepting the cadeu, thinking it was a gift, his life became full of pain and torture. Having to live the rest of his life, and barely able to control his true form.” I feel bad for him.

Hey man I love the video, but I was wondering if you were going to do more videos for Back4Blood. I was really looking forward to those videos but you haven't uploaded any, so I just wanted to know if you were planning to continue them
Ok, so I came into this video only having noticed the part about Dr Moreau in the title, and because I haven't played Resident Evil 8, I thought you were talking about the original Dr Moreau story. Because of that, it took me a little longer than I'm proud of to realise it wasn't just you making a joke when you said you were talking about something that was at least one and a half years old...
This may be a stretch, but in Moreau’s final mutated form, the way his body kinda just sticks out of the larger mutated fish part reminds me of that parasite called the tongue-eating louse (the scientific name being cymothoa exigua). The parasite essentially replaces a fish’s tongue and sticks out in a similar way Moreau does. It’d be cool if that was Capcom’s inspiration for that part of his design.
Ricardo Irving, a villain from Resident Evil 5 in case you haven't played it, has a very similar form except on a much, much larger scale and the human part of him that remains always reminded me of that tongue-eating parasite.

The green stuff seems to be some super growing bubble algae controlled whit the mold. this is something that seemed to have mixed within the stomach acid so he is kinda constantly producing alot of stomach acid making him barf at times in his human form and then in his fish form this gets super charged to make a barf attack. I think he has somekind of inner pouch in his lungs mayby where his human part retracts into to avoid the stomach acid but when you shoot him enought times, this seems to stop him from retracting back causing his stomach acid to build up and making him explode.
While you say the super organism is the one in charge, I never really got the feeling that it really "wanted" any of this. I always saw the parasite experiments as Miranda's thing. All the megamycete did was exist and grant abilities like it do.

Will you tackle heisenberg and how he can control metal
I've always wanted to see your takes on how telepathy would work
yes I will!
I believe that in the game it says that the way the cadou bonded with him it allowed him to project a electromagnetic field
@@AbysmalRapture It probably amplified his already existing electromagnetic field. All humans give off an EMF, which is why you will feel strange if you stand too close to massive pylons or anything else that gives off massive amounts of electricity.
@@SSD_Penumbra so ur saying with enough mutations i can control electricity and have a horrible death trying to control it?
@@redacted4141 I mean, probably.
Moreau’s final form is basically a giant lovecraftian mudskipper
Moreau always reminded me of Resident Evil 5's Ricardo Irving. They're both kind of pathetic and both ultimately mutate into aquatic B.O.W.s.
I'm not sure if you've ever covered anything from Resident Evil 5, but it'd be neat to see your take on the B.O.W.s from that game.
I have not! but perhaps down the line I can take a look, other than that, it is interesting, I didnt know about him in RE5
@@RoanokeGaming Well, I'm quite fond of the character because he is one of the more interesting ones in Resident Evil 5 and the aforementioned aquatic B.O.W. he becomes! The mutation is very over-the-top, but it is Resident Evil, after all.

I liked this joke.
I kinda feel bad for him before his transformation he seemed fairly intelligent then when he was put together with it his intellect decreased and on top of that he had a low rate with the parisite so it held him back majorly while his “siblings” has higher rates and thus less problems with it with Heisinburg having the highest of all of them
Heisenberg is the highest we know of, there were 8 individuals...we've only seen 4
There wasn't any DNA added. The Cadou just used the french DNA within Moreau to fully manifest his frog form
@@MarioTheLiopleurodon Untrue, his French DNA would have transformed him on a giant baguette.
It is stated Heisenberg’s electro organ is similar to Narc japonica a species of electric ray endemic to Japanese waters
@@ShieniLicksOnLemons thanks for pointing that out as it also could have been electric catfish and other electro-manipulative animals
Reminds me the sandman take on the story of Adam and Lilith.
Glad you finally got to this, been waiting for a year! Greatful you put in the effort, thank you
happy to hear you are enjoying it man, and I appreciate the compliment!
Salamander seems to be the go-to creature that Capcom goes to when it comes to designing monster mutations. I’ve seen a number of enemies in the RE series that are based on a Salamander.
So good to hear “Starting with the feet” again ❤️
Finally more Resident Evil videos, love it!
I’ve been waiting so long for more re8 content!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
enjoy!
Moreau's final form always reminds me of the Gwoemul monster from "The Host" movie.
Same 🤣🤣
Hey there! I love your content, you’re really entertaining, and you make these complex topics easy to understand. Since you mentioned that you were bad on timing, I just wanted to mention something that might be worth looking at. The scarlet rot in elden ring might be something worth looking into as it something that’s some interesting effects on a person, specifically Radahn. Just an idea, but once again, I love your content, keep it up :)
Awesome video as always thanks Roanoke!🙂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I always felt bad for Moreau; the dude was dealt the worst hand possible, but he still at least tried to make the best of it.

That's a lot of details that I never thought to actually look into. A brilliant and in-depth video, new sub for you! 😁😁
I think, I could be wrong, that Moreau has more than one (1) Cadou, cause there's this drawing/chart of him in Miranda's Lab in Chris' section before you open Mia's cell. 🤔
Can't wait to see the other Lord to see if there was something else I didn't know. 😁😁
Keep up the great work!

thank you for the compliment!
It doesn't make really sense since he's a guy, but I always thought that the slime looks like unfertilized fish eggs that he can produce somehow
Those same structures can be seen in the megamycete cave when you play as Chris. I'm not sure what the implication is
I still haven't played Resident Evil Village. Had it in my library for over a year, but never got around to it. Maybe it's time...

Your top tier video have me hooked, keep up the great work man, I love it
ayyyy thanks man! I appreciate the compliment on it!
The thing about Mother Miranda's plan to resurrect Eva, though:
It wouldn't have worked.
You see, we know from RE7 what happens when the Megamycete is used to duplicate someone that is already dead:
You get THE MOLDED.
I wonder if he didn’t cover those eyes on his back he might have seen Ethan before he ran off with his…1/4th daughter
well those eyes were covered by a jacket
I was thinking yesterday, 'Roanoke should've covered Moreau before ending his resident evil 8 series', and low and behold wish came true
Thank god someone finally acknoleged that the spanish flu didnt come from Spain
its like a fart, whoever smelt it, dealt it lol
Marou makes it clear his bonding with Cadou is not perfect. He mutates somewhat randomly because of this. Causing his ugly form and twisted mutations, however he does have some control. Able to delay mutations via will as the parasite is attached to his brain I believe. Though it originates in attaching to the heart I believe. He is able to exert what control he has to manipulate his mutations to a point, but it is implied by a book that is found near the end that he will eventually degenerate into a broken mutation that becomes mindless and possibly mutates itself to death eventually.
I am once again calling for your breakdown and discussing of the D-code supersoldiers from the game prototype!
Moreau would be Dr. Pimplepopper's best patient ever.
Finally I’ve been waiting on a Roanoke info doc on Moreau
Poor Moreau. Sure, he tries to kill Ethan and everything, but man's needs a hug. He didn't ask for any of that to happen to him
Would you hug him though?
@@marcofioretti6908 Not currently, but I do have biases I need to sort out. Now, a few should pats and a "It'll be ok" are within my abilities. Doesn't negate the fact that Moreau deserves a hug from someone
Awesome vid, in Miranda lab there actually a sketch that show she put three parasites in his body, and combine with your video i can definitely see that there may have definitely been a grudge
Yes, you did pronounce the Romanian last name correctly. The game developers failed with the mispronunciation.
Love this! Resi evil village is one of my fave games so it's amazing to dip back in. Thanks roanoke!
So, Moreau’s voice actor said what his backstory was in an interview, and it’s pretty sad.
“Moreau was once a schoolteacher that lived in the village. However upon accepting the cadeu, thinking it was a gift, his life became full of pain and torture. Having to live the rest of his life, and barely able to control his true form.”
I feel bad for him.

I just had that Lady D video you made a while ago suggested to me yesterday, so seeing this release today is great timing!
Fun fact cadou in romania (game location) means gift
His final form reminds me of the creature from " the host"
@@TheRocketMouse Oh that’s right! I had to look it up to jog my memory, but you’re totally right.

Loved the video! I just watched Troll Hunter and wanted to suggest it as a recommend. Would love to see you do a breakdown on troll anatomy and their reaction to sunlight.
As a pre-med student turned historian, I love the channel and get all my supernatural biology needs met here. 😂❤️
Great to see you do this one. Cheers
While you say the super organism is the one in charge, I never really got the feeling that it really "wanted" any of this. I always saw the parasite experiments as Miranda's thing. All the megamycete did was exist and grant abilities like it do.
I feel so bad for him 😣 I wonder what he looked like before he was infected
Finally another gaming vid 😌
If I remember correctly the growth on his back is actually his brain
