The ambient light in our cars look good in pictures, but phones cant seem to pick it up very well on video. That's the only reason there isn't a clip of it on. Phones just cant seem to pick up ambient light as well as the human eye
Gonna try this. I bought a symphony ambient light kit like 2 months ago and it's just been sitting in my trunk, will try this out and see how it goes 😌
On my 2010 ss I found that behind the dash there were allready plugs for ambient lighting. I tested them with volt meter to make sure they would adjust so I didn’t have to go to the traction control button. I tapped into the plug right behind the gauge cluster. Purple positive.
Congrats ! Haha only the first half of 2010 models have those connectors. They were left over from gm planning on installing dash lighting before they canceled it. Every camaro after your year those connectors aren't available. Would have been a much easier install if they were
I have a similar kit from gen5diy. I installed it as you showed and it looks good. The problem I’m having is the light pipe is sitting to low on the right side of the dash so it’s not shining properly. What size is the trim you used to create the gap? My kit didn’t come with it. It looks to be foam adhesive weather stripping but what’s the width and thickness?
Our leds are brighter than gen5diy but lifting it up will definetly help. In our original kit (the one on the video) we used a FIRM adhesive weatherstripping about 1/2" thick. You should be able to find something similar at autozone or advance auto. Oreillys and Napa doesn't carry the same type of strip, theirs is more foamy, if that makes sense.

Its definitely the best looking version I can guarantee that, we try to price it competitively since we don't currently offer a plug n play connector. Still working on that part.

The doors' interior lights stay on, but the dash's doesn't. Do you think that one of those tubes could've came loose? Thanks in advance.
None of them came with dash lighting from the factory. If it was there then someone put there. It's possible the less blew out, or the power or ground was interrupted. Hard to say who even made the kit that's there. You'll have to pull it out and start testing it. Or replace it
In my 2SS/RS Camaro, the dash panel is Inferno Orange painted. Do I need to order the ZL1 Red option on your site to match the factory lights that are in the door panel?
red is the correct color...however... the inferno orange paint is TRANSLUCENT. Be aware that it takes extra work for the dash kit to work properly on inferno orange as the light wants to "bleed" through the paint. our door kit however seems to work amazingly.
We actually stopped using this light pipe method about a year or so ago. We started using an updated method with better hardware for a cleaner and even look, however we closed shop back in 2/23. I will probably be releasing a video on how to build it yourself with the new hardware soon

I'm starting a Audio/ lighting/ welding business in Pittsburgh Pa and I was actually going to see if you could be the source for some of the materials. Everyone here with Camaros can't wait to see what they look like. I have more than a dozen people looking for me to install this. I hate to hear that you guys shut it down. There's a ton of your stuff that I know I can sell/ install here. I wish you guys the best of luck and appreciate your impact on the Camaro aftermarket!
@billchambers6015 I would love to see this work continued. We found that the ice blue LEDs from gm that is used in the doors isn't bright enough to be used on the dash kit, we used a brighter set of SMDs for our doors and the dash kit when it used an LED for this reason, the company that made them has since gone out of business. what do you do when the light tube on the right side of the dash only lights on the ends and not the middle ? I followed the video and installed every thing like in the video.
We've never had that issue with our kit. But it could be due to a couple things and we are happy to help. First are you sure you purchased a gen5concepts kit and not gen5DIY ? We've had that confusion in the past.
You might want to check your dimmer switch on the left side of the dash. The dimmer switch brightens and dims the ambient lighting along with the gauges.

If it's just the one side not working then either its unplugged inside the door or the led is blown and will need replaced. You'll need to pop the door panel off and check for voltage at the harness or at the led to verify. If you have voltage then replace the led.

Kit comes with 2 connectors to crimp splice into power for the kit, no wire cutting needed.

If the lights stopped working completely its most likely the power source has been damaged or cut or fuse blown

All 5th gen ZL1s come with leather and red stitching. They were also supposed to come with red lighting and didnt. Which is why we made the kit :)

@kmart014 no. The ambient lighting did not go across the the dash from factory. That's why we made a kit to make it do it.
