I love her philosophy of her guitar. Speaks about her long journey as a musician, and how far she's come, not to mention very vintage sounding. Her soloing and phrasing is very indicative of classic blues. Great collaboration.
Tedeschi Trucks is the single best touring band on the road today, for good number years running now. Amazing stage orchestration, monster musicianship, and a band that seems to enjoy themselves, enjoys being together, and they all get there space and moments in the mix. It's amazing.
I agree. I've gotten to see them five times. They are always great! It's one of those shows where you just let the music, vibe and entire event just wash over you. I have a hard time explaining it to anyone who has never gone.
Saw them live at Jazz Fest in New Orleans earlier this year, fantastic band. Her vocals were incredible and of course her and Derek's playing was astounding.
There are two reasons why i play a telecaster, Albert Collins and Susan Tedeschi. Susan's been a huge inspiration to me for many years, a proper guitar legend.
Fantastic. She is really one of the great vocalists of her time but under appreciated as a guitar player. Which is pretty understandable when Derek Trucks is also in your band.
What a voice. She reminded me so much of Janis on the song she came out with years ago. Now she's married to a great guitarist and doing excellent. Rock on Susan!
I saw the TTB at Blossom Music Center back in July this year and its the best concert I've ever been to. The whole band was on fire and they belted it out for 2 hours straight. Hard to get much cooler than Susan.
Props to Marty for interviewing Susan! Just Won't Burn is such a great CD!!! Highly underrated guitar player, singer, songwriter. I've seen her solo and later with the Tedeschi Trucks band. Always brilliant!
i bought that cd in 1998 at the tulsa blues fest when she played with Bb and Buddy g..She has just continued with blues greatness and maturity since. Great interview.
Thank you Marty I love this lady. I believe she is underrated both guitar and Vocally the music media doesn’t want to promote blues anymore but those of us who still love it. Know she is one of the best. Plus, she is a sweet person, so thank you again for having this interview. Any of us that are fans love to hear more so this is great.
Amazing interview and jam with an all time great! Thanks for sharing Marty and big ups to you! You have so many great things going on right now and they are soooo deserved for all you do for the guitar community!
What an awesome surprise. Love Susan! Love Marty! Major impressive that Marty fearlessly accompanies Susan with full knowledge of the fact that her normal musical partner is guitar god Derek Trucks.
Two people I have spent a bunch of time listening and watching, mostly learning from Marty and Loving Susan and Darrel , been to the shows. Thanks Guys
Awesome treat! Just won’t burn is a true gem of an album! I remember the first time I played it after purchasing at Tower Records. From their out I was a Susan T fan! Great to hear her talking about the blues and guitars everything!
I try to see her every summer the last few years when she tours with Dereck and the band…always one of my favorite nights of the year…Susan is such a talent…
Enjoyed this very much, very well done. She is about the only guitarist I have not seen that I would consider going to see live. Combines the guitar skills and vocals in a way that gets me. Thank you for sharing your experience knowledge and passion for those of us trying to make music. Also for sharing this gem. BEST AND PEACE
Hey Marty, great job! Susan is absolutely one of my favorite people and both of you are so musically compatible. Really nice hearing you two jam. If I sat across from ST and she bobbed her head and smiled at the riff I was playing I would probably pass out and fall out of my chair. You, however, just kept layin' it down! Way to go!
The first time I saw Susan was when she opened for Jeff Beck at the Roseland in NYC. Probably March of... 2001? I saw here several more times over the next two years as a solo act. Then she and Derek got married and I saw her quite a few times with the Allmans at the Beacon. I love Susan's music. Just Won't Burn is a killer album, with a lot of top talent on it.
Living in MA and seeing her for the first time in a very small venue in Cambridge, I thought, man that is a huge voice in such a small package! I also remember hearing her on the radio for the first time and not putting 2 and 2 together, but thinking...man, I love this, who is this woman? That and shopping in Tedeschi convenience stores more times than I can count! So beautiful, so talanted!
This made my day , and it's almost midnight. Both of you just doing what you do so well. The Tele and the 335 are my favorite guitars, so it was extra special for me, diggin the soulful chops.
I feel privileged to have seen Susan playing numerous times in jam sessions at Hole In the Wall (a now defunct dive bar - a dive bar in so many ways, and the stage was so small) in Dallas in the late 90s - the blues there was awesome, after all Susan was there among other fantastic players. She had the stickers on that guitar then - a neat unique look. Seeing Hash Brown, who ran the jam, pick several players out of the crowd to play together, see a short chat among them, then the awesome music come out amazed me. I asked Holland K. Smith (who led a song, and another excellent musician) what they discussed before the son, and he said, "I told them we're going to play a shuffle blues in E starting on the 5 chord". I had no idea people, who often didn't know one another or having ever played with each other, could do that. It was inspiring.
Watched the short and had to come here right after, I’ve never felt compelled to do that with any other video before but I’m ever so glad I did, she’s awesome 👏!
This lady is a giant in todays music she has it all along with being a top knotch vocalist and then you got her husband probally one of the best gutiarest in modern music history you cant get no better.epic talent.
What a treat! Susan is a great musician, love her singing and guitar playing. Been a fan since Just Won't Burn came out. I only wish this interview and playing together went on for longer Marty! Thanks for having her on.
Thanks Marty. Needed this after a long day of work. What an experience it must have been to play with Susan. That voice, my god. epic. keep up the strong work.
Mad props to Marty for jamming. It must be intimidating knowing that the person you're playing with normally plays with/is married to one of the greatest guitarists alive today.
Epic. Thanks Marty. What a beautiful human being Susan is. First heard her and Derek at mountain jam the year before they played together. I was like who the heck are these people! The next year they were playing as the tedeschi trucks band and have been following them ever since. What a great musician and one of the best voices out there! Ty!!!!!!!
I remember seeing Susan for the first time with her band at Memphis in May in probably 2005. Didn’t even know who she was. Amazing. Then years later with Dereck
I remember when she came out with that album living in Asheville NC, the local radio station played songs off of that album and saw her open up for Buddy Guy and a year later at a small club called Almost Blue she made a guest appearance with Derek Trucks Band, was totally blown away with her voice and her sweet personality. She’s just a gem of a person love love her!!
Susan, Derek and the Tedeschi Trucks Band are a blessing. Clearly, their music is a spiritual practice. And "Just Won't Burn" is a ripper of an album. Blues=Truth!
I was jazzed to see this come up in my thread . I LOVE Susan what an amazing soulful voice she has. I'm jealous Marty, wish I could have been in on this one
Love the signed guitar and especially Blues Boy at the top. The video of him playing with Susan and Derek is hilarious with BB drooling over Dereks playing🤤😁
Oh man, I love Marty, Sue AND Tim Gearan (such a great singer/songwriter/entertainer & dude). Sue and I are about the same age; I grew up maybe 3 or 4 miles from her…my friends and I used to drive by her house when we were, umm, partaking in a certain herb (we didn’t know it was her at the time but just wanted to see the cool house that the Tedeschi’s had in Norwell). I imagine that - while my friends and I were being delinquents, she was probably diligently practicing in her room 😊. One last thing - I just got the 25th anniversary release of Just Won’t Burn on vinyl 🤌🏼 so good!
What a talent Susan is and she seems so nice too. She also has one of the great voices. It's such a shame that this interview wasn't an hour long, 10 minutes or so just isn't long enough.
I first heard Susan and her band around 2000 when she toured with Buddy Guy and BB King. There were two bands that opened, then Susan and band were third. When I heard her I knew she was on her way to the top. Buddy Guy and BB King were, of course, phenomenal as well. Great day outdoors in Portland, Oregon.
She is a national treasure. Please include more Susan & Derek on your channel.
i agree mrataylor
I saw Susan at the Empire theater in Grand Forks, ND and she was awesome!❤🎉😮
Agreed! An interview with Derek would be awesome
Tedeschi Trucks Band is the best band in America..Period.🍄
I love her philosophy of her guitar. Speaks about her long journey as a musician, and how far she's come, not to mention very vintage sounding. Her soloing and phrasing is very indicative of classic blues. Great collaboration.
Tedeschi Trucks is the single best touring band on the road today, for good number years running now. Amazing stage orchestration, monster musicianship, and a band that seems to enjoy themselves, enjoys being together, and they all get there space and moments in the mix. It's amazing.
Couldn't agree more!
I agree. I've gotten to see them five times. They are always great! It's one of those shows where you just let the music, vibe and entire event just wash over you. I have a hard time explaining it to anyone who has never gone.
Wow, Susan is so amazing...so cool
I saw Susan in the 1990s. Amazing back then and amazing now.

Props to Marty for interviewing Susan! Just Won't Burn is such a great CD!!! Highly underrated guitar player, singer, songwriter. I've seen her solo and later with the Tedeschi Trucks band. Always brilliant!
I've been listening to Susan Tedeschi for over 20 years, and I had never heard her speaking voice. No one sings like her, she's incredible.
I wish she’d go back to doing her own thing! Those first records were amazing!!

Yeah, but Derek isn't playing 12 bar accompaniment.

And I have enjoyed that album for 25 years then... thanks for making it Susan! I met B.B.King a couple times, I wish I had him sign a guitar. RIP
Great interview and Jams! Thank you!
Thanks for listening
I just got out of my car with her on Spotify. Part of me and sweet soul song to name a few. Tedeschi Trucks make me proud to be from North Florida
Saw her lead on for Johnny Lang at 9:30 club in DC. Followed her ever since.
This made my day , and it's almost midnight. Both of you just doing what you do so well. The Tele and the 335 are my favorite guitars, so it was extra special for me, diggin the soulful chops.
She has talent off the scale! Great player, and that voice gives me goosebumps everytime!

Thank you so much for this, Marty! The only disappointment is that it's only 10 minutes long. I could listen to her for hours!
Congrats Marty. Susan Tedeschi!!!! Thanks to both of you for all that you do for the world.
Thank you too!
Love Susan T
My favourite female singer and ass kicker on the Tele
Mad props to Marty for jamming. It must be intimidating knowing that the person you're playing with normally plays with/is married to one of the greatest guitarists alive today.

Susan is and always has been the queen of modern Blues Rock women in my world. Thanks Marty. Say Marty, what model is that Gibby you're playing? LOL
What a talent Susan is and she seems so nice too. She also has one of the great voices. It's such a shame that this interview wasn't an hour long, 10 minutes or so just isn't long enough.
Omg!! Her speaking voice is NOT what I was expecting! 🙌🏼❤
Thanks 🙏 for your love and support 🎉over the years with my music career !
I hope you never stop listening to my music 🎵 💕
Are you one of my huge fans out there ?
