It was raining slightly and as we parked our car Derek passed by in the headlights so I shouted his name and he talked to us, in the rain! I asked if he would sign my guitar and he said sure. Opening my guitar case, I remembered I didn’t have a pen. He then invited me to knock on his tour bus after the show and would sign it then. He was unbelievable. It creates an incredible amount of articulation between the notes by not allowing lingering tones to bleed into each other.

No one picked up any instrument and immediately played like a pro. You have to be willing to do the work so you can play as well as you want to play. Les paul figured it takes a million hours of practice to be a great guitarist. I'm pretty sure he knew what he was talking about.

@@bryantcochran5065totally agree! I was gonna say you just have to keep working at the instrument in a meaningful way and you will make progress. I’ve felt in a rut lately like I’m sure a lot of us do and then I got some lessons and the spark is back again. Doing things I haven’t done, so this dude inspires me for sure!

The key here is and what you will see amongst the best expressive players is that they can't generally tell you what they are doing with their hands.
Very similar to how you can't make your ❤ beat.
It simply is gut coming from pure expression.
I am undoing all of the techniques folks taught me over the years because I was just trying to imitate vs simply create.
Rock on folks...you only must listen to move forward.
