I once was on a server looking for an artist and among many there was one that didn't give me their portfolio saying that it all got deleted but that they are working on a piece now and that they'll send it later. I wait, and they send what looks like an ai generated image, but maybe it's just 3d. I give them the benefit of the doubt and ask them if it's 3d. They start to get a little angry saying they lost all their drawings (already said that, not answering the question). Then they ask me how would I like the picture to be made. I got one of the artist scams a few weeks back, and since they were being nice in conversation and didn't seem too forceful about payment about it i just went along with it, after about 10 minutes of talking about art they suddenly pulled out the "I actually need emergency funds for my dog because he got into a car accident" excuse and tried to haggle for a high price because of that. I'm usually pretty paranoid of scams, but i could honestly see some of my friends falling for it since one of them even fell for the "i reported your steam account" scam. @@7_moood a lot of kids are actually smart and wouldn’t fall for this kind of scam, but unfortunately there are also a lot of kids who are complete morons and will get scammed by the dumbest scams ever
I get exclusively art scams of the non-emergency variety. The funny part is, the server they contact me from, is a VRChat community that I am a partnered artist with, that has a dedicated commissions forum. I don't need commissions, I am an artist, I do my own work, and there's a commissions forum. Every single time, I, through conversation, warn them that I'm already an artist, and then politely inform them that they're acting like a scammer, and direct them to the commissions forum. They remind me that they're "not a scammer", and leave the server to go scam somewhere else. Every time.
Usually the things they offer are 2D art, 3D art, vtuber model, live stream overlay, etc The part of that, to me, that's a massive red flag, is the fact that they're good at three major, separate categories: 2D art, 3D art, and vtuber models. Most vtuber models are "live 2D", which is an insane system that requires immense amount of dedicated skill, and those models usually cost upwards of thousands of dollars, because of how insanely difficult they are to make. The fact that these "artists" can make those, as well as professional 3D art and 2D art and live stream overlays, and for cheap, is an obvious giveaway that they're making shit up.
Oh hi bakers! Happy to finally see the art scam covered here. I’ve talked to 2 of these artist scams, both claiming they could make 3D models. So I ask them to show me a wireframe of one of their models. Many messages later, and these artists didn’t even know what a wireframe was. Meanwhile they were asking hundreds of dollars for a model that at most would take an hour. (I would know as someone who makes 3D models) If anyone asks you for commissions unprompted, best to ignore them or HEAVILY scrutinize their art or skills. Avoid PayPal friends and family too if they ask for payment.
how to not get scammed: 1) live in a remote location (preferably in the middle of the jungle or desert where there's no internet and absolutely no signal 2) do not have any electronic devices, and do not have any radios 3) turn into a privacy guy and install super dark shades on your curtains 4) never let anyone into your house, even if it's the delivery man
i’m a rookie game developer in Scratch and Roblox, and my discord account got hacked once. hacker sent stuff to my friends about a “private release” of a “game”. sometimes, i send my friends like, preview things of my game in the form of exes and such, so they thought i was just sending them a new game. thank god none of them had the time to open the files the hacker sent.
The funny thing about this, is that i received these a lot, and i mean like more that 10 different ppl. Not knowing it's a scam, luckily, I refused to. I was literally like "Commissioning? Yes? I draw for myself (not an artist,) so no. Stop DMing me!" 0:20 that was one of them. However, i would have fallen for it in the future, so... much thanks for this video.
As an artist who does commissions, this is sick. :/ and goes 1000% against how artists typically do this process. An artist [at least a self respecting one] NEVER goes to contact a customer unsolicited. Usually they'll have a post or commissions card and wait for a client to message first. Its sad to see this sort of scam just growing more and more with the rise of AI art. Not to mention damages the art community as a whole as for anyone whos been scammed is likely less inclined to ever commission art again.
Something I still don't quite understand, as a white hat hacker myself, why would anyone need Discord login information? So you got the information, great! Now what? The only thing I can think of is them sending virusses around on your friends list I guess.
Services selling members. They need accounts that don’t look botted, so they steal your info and make your account join these servers. Or they use them for other scams like stealing steam accounts. Plus, people are lazy. They often use the same credentials for different platforms. So stealing credentials from your discord account might also steal your email and other game accounts.
"Do NOT give away your credentials" Anyways if you find a scam report it here by logging in with your email and the password that you probably use everywhere.
A few days ago someone texted me like this, it wasnt the first time so the second they said the whole "im a designer and i do commissions" shit i just spammed them with insults and nsfw, tbh im so tired of these, especially that they ruin the reputation of people who actually do commissions to get some money
4:11 for those who don't know this gibberish code ntts was talking about. This code is a obfuscated JavaScript(JS) code. Obfuscation is a technique to transform readable and understandable JavaScript code into a more complex and difficult-to-understand version, while still maintaining its functionality. Note: if you know and use scripts like this and you encountered some of the codes just like in the video, they contain malicious code like: ip and token grabber, so it's best to check for any malicious code before using it:)
On the discord artist scams, i've got actually ONE. So, uh i was just playing roblox cassually when i get a DM from someone, saying if that they could make me TH-cam/Twitch Emojis/pfps just for 50$ because he's an artists and he needs to pay his debts and food, he then send me some of the stuff he did for other people, but then while looking at google i found the same exact images, and then i told him to go scam someone else and blocked him.
Yeah one server I help gets inundated with tons of investment scams, "looking for moderators/beta testers/admins/artists/etc etc etc" scams and whatnot else.
Omg I finally found someone talking about the art commission scam!! I get these like once every 2 weeks. They always give a sob story saying"I can't pay rent/my bills 💔". It's kinda funny to mess with em but I can't help feeling bad sometimes.... My empathetic side and the fact that I'm an Artist myself makes it feel like I should just commission them 😔 though their art low-key looks like traced garbage.
I laugh at the commission scammers. Because my usual 'uno reverse is '... "Dude, I draw my own characters and things I want all the time. why would I pay someone to do what I ALREADY do?' I get instantly blocked.
I've gotten so many artist scams as of late. I still don't know why anyone would fall for them as its really easy to see the inconsistencies in the artwork they show.
Gotta watch out their "lines" too....they always say the same thing "How are you" "I'm actually an artist" Or "do you like artwork?" AND THEIR PRICES! "Full body $200-$250" And my favorite "Your profile picture caught my eye😍" Ive been studying and saving their art to see if they match ←tip if want to troll scammers
thank you for talking about the roblox scam. i was scammed using it and i lost a bunch of items in games and the games did nothing about it after reporting it about 5 times
Wait that's so funny! I actually got a DM asking if I wanted to commission them, thought it was just weird. Had no idea it was a scam. (I politely declined since I definitely wasn't interested)
Man idk about other artists but if I was to open for commissions I would never fckn message random people asking if they want one, that's just obnoxious and rude. I'd be waiting for someone to message me directly asking for one, y'know, like a normal person. Jumping into dms and asking random people if they wanna buy commissions has the same energy as someone knocking on the door of a random house and then proceeding to try and sell a toaster to a stranger
I took one of these up as i was actually looking for a commission (this was before the whole AI art stuff) and they actually did deliver the art very promptly and it was pretty well done for the price i paid.
OMG those furry "artists" scammers... I had at least 25 of them on Twitter and now they moved to Discord. The funny thing is that they literally don't care what you say, I'm like "I don't even have money for food" at they "I usually charge 500$ but I offer you a special price of just 150$" for low quality art
I used to get either those artist or Steam Account scams maybe once or twice a week. Lately, I've been getting them 2-4 times a day. They are so frickin' annoying.
I'd strongly recommend against opening any sort of random PDF file sent by anyone you cannot trust, especially over Discord. They can contain malicious and hidden code that automatically execute, this is done through several exploits in the way a PDF file works. MOST web browsers and antiviruses (Windows Defender etc.) *should* protect you from this nowadays, but you can never be too sure. Other files to look out for that can possibly be a little "iffy" to open would be .bat .vbs .exe .scr .rtf - etc.
At least with that first one you can theoretically send it as goods and services (which every reputable artist will have you use) and when they try and run off with your money you can chargeback
Even tho this video is 6 months old, these scams do continue. Recently, the art commission scams have turned to people randomly messaging you and asking if your profile picture is your original character. They will then ask YOU if YOU want to commission THEM (fyi, not how that works). They then will send traced or fully stolen pieces. I shut down every conversation the moment someone asks if that's my character in my profile picture.
Fun fact I fell for an artist scam out of 60$ and they needed up tracing my ref and then lied about their “ram broken” and the picture they showed me was Linus tech tip thumbnail, huge bummer to me
I got a lot of these "art" scams, but one was really weird he clicked all my links (grabify) and even tried running an exe i send him as an "image" (windows defender deleted it before he could run it) and he still hasn't blocked me and replies to everything i send him. But im still pretty sure it is a scammer.
I did something similar. The grabify link said “South Brisbane, Australia”. When I asked them “so how’s the weather in Australia” they said they weren’t from Australia… VPN So I did a little digging, and was able to find some damming evidence; the call center’s address. Looked it up on Google maps, left a review of the call center with a screenshot of the scammer’s messages, and then reported to the proper authorities. 😊
This has to be one of the worst scams I've seen so far Mainly because I'm someone who ACTUALLY sells art and character designs! It sucks knowing that someone is using a method that many people rely on for their income to scam people :(
This Roblox scam happend to me a month back what they did is say im a gfx artist and I fell for it not know what i was doing at all Thanks for explaining this scam/hack I also had a feeling that the person was gonna scam me
When you come from team fortress 2, you are hardened to the scape of phishing and scammers. The thing is, it's funny how here people just want to steal shitty nitro subs instead.
unironically, i may have a case of falling for the artist scam (i can already tell that they made ai art judging by their bazillion styles); but honestly i didn't really care for that "artist" much tbh and just decided to give them 25$ for shits and giggles all i'm thankful is that it led me into being confident on how to contact the bank, and quite frankly i already wasted more money on useless stuff than 25$ anyway since i get paid every month
The Artist scam probably happened to me. Someone DM’d me and said that can make twitch overlays and sent me just over dramatic twitch overlays. Little did she know, I don’t need twitch overlays. I don’t stream. But of course, I’m too nice and recommended a server that people often want commissions from. They said thank you, I didn’t actually see them advertise in the server, I think they were trying to scam me? But.. I dunno.
i had this guy dm me saying that he was homeless and desperately needed a commission to buy food. i felt so bad for him, and i actually tried to find him someone to commission him (i wasnt interested). i was a bit suspicious that it was a scam, but i was pretty sure it wasnt and that he was really suffering. when i told him that no one was really interested, he blocked me.
some random person in a server i was in sent me a DM, and they asked if i had any commissions for them since they were an 'artist'. they sent me their instagram profile, and when i looked through it i saw that a lot of it just looked.. weird. their 'art' style looked VERY different every time, anatomy was weird, and a lot of it looked like AI 'art'. i showed it to some of my friends and they agreed on it not being actual art. i confronted the person about it and they immediately blocked me...
I was once actually a target for that artist scam. Didn't think it was a scam but I didn't take it because their art style was weird and not consistent. Good to know it was a scam

Usually the things they offer are 2D art, 3D art, vtuber model, live stream overlay, etc
The part of that, to me, that's a massive red flag, is the fact that they're good at three major, separate categories: 2D art, 3D art, and vtuber models.
(I would know as someone who makes 3D models)
If anyone asks you for commissions unprompted, best to ignore them or HEAVILY scrutinize their art or skills. Avoid PayPal friends and family too if they ask for payment.
"A family might die, but you know that sometimes is an L you gotta take."
Whenever I get the artist scam, I just let them send me "their art," and tell them I'm not interested. They've never bothered me after that...
That sure does happen to me both on Twitter, and Discord! Thanks to you for uploading this video, now I'll remember how to prevent these art scams! :)
As an artist who actually draws stuff on commissions, shit like this first scam makes it harder for me to find clients.
how to not get scammed:
1) live in a remote location (preferably in the middle of the jungle or desert where there's no internet and absolutely no signal
2) do not have any electronic devices, and do not have any radios
3) turn into a privacy guy and install super dark shades on your curtains
4) never let anyone into your house, even if it's the delivery man
wait until the oxygen atoms start scamming you
I love that TH-cam promoted a Robux scam livestream next to this video so people can report it and TH-cam does nothing.
i’m a rookie game developer in Scratch and Roblox, and my discord account got hacked once. hacker sent stuff to my friends about a “private release” of a “game”. sometimes, i send my friends like, preview things of my game in the form of exes and such, so they thought i was just sending them a new game. thank god none of them had the time to open the files the hacker sent.
"Do NOT give away your credentials"
Anyways if you find a scam report it here by logging in with your email and the password that you probably use everywhere.
mate is your point just that nobody should log in anywhere ???
I believe scams are just going to devolve to "give me money" or "give account" with 10 grammatical errors somehow
5:25 ain't that the girl from the dangers in my heart
it is💀💀💀
Imagine youre actually an Artist who just lost his job and you cant ask for a emergency commission because there's a scam like this going on
6:36 so no one is gonna talk about how he’s getting 100 notifications in less than 2 minutes 💀💀
Well I guess no one noticed besides you😂
@@PikalinkFN 😭
@@yayaguest666fire lol good eye I didn't notice until you said it
I've remarkably never been scammed on Discord
All discords scam are so lame
there is a reason your pfp is a W
I wonder when will be the day that i find something believable enough, without any red flag of known scams
@Kyminion:(
I haven't either
To be honest the roblox scam you showed, I once fell for. I am grateful I didn’t have that many roblox items because it could’ve gone much worse!
That was the bestest speech I’ve ever heard tearing up (nice animation btw)
this is absolutely bull crap on the fact that actual artist scamming exists; that's only going to make actual competent artists a bad name 💀💀💀
How is NTTS not a Discord admin??? This dude saved alot of Discord accounts!
Because he's also criticising Discord, and it's hurting Discord's feelings
NTTS you have told the scammers how to scam better 💀💀💀 (3:06)
I'm more mad that they used Mitsurugi Lia's avatar for their shenanigans than the fact that they're scamming people
A few days ago someone texted me like this, it wasnt the first time so the second they said the whole "im a designer and i do commissions" shit i just spammed them with insults and nsfw, tbh im so tired of these, especially that they ruin the reputation of people who actually do commissions to get some money
as a legit artist the artist scam draws up fury for me.
4:11 for those who don't know this gibberish code ntts was talking about.
This code is a obfuscated
JavaScript(JS) code.
Gotta watch out their "lines" too....they always say the same thing
"How are you"
"I'm actually an artist"
Or "do you like artwork?"
AND THEIR PRICES!
"Full body $200-$250"
And my favorite
"Your profile picture caught my eye😍"
Ive been studying and saving their art to see if they match ←tip if want to troll scammers
thank you for talking about the roblox scam. i was scammed using it and i lost a bunch of items in games and the games did nothing about it after reporting it about 5 times
These artist scams are all over twitter too, and sometimes they’re brazen enough to claim vtuber models from HOLOLIVE as their own 😂
6:39 are we going to talk about his notifications going up that fast...
Thank you for making this video it will aware awareness for those who fell for this
That people fall for these scams is really disappointing.
Whenever I see a message request by a user with an anime pfp in a furry server, I tend to assume it’s one of these.
When you said something about eating a battery as a child, it reminded me of when I was a child, I shoved a watch battery in my ear.
These transitions are smooth
"Atleast i ate batteries as a kid" Did not see that one comming xD
I get the "proffessional artist" one quite a lot and also the steam account report scam from time to time
I got that scam but on twitter. Their paypal even goes to a marketing company. And their social media is barely new.
Great video! Btw, can you increase the audio like 5 - 10%? I notice it only on your videos that the audio is quite low.
I remember a guy asked me if i wanted to have gfx art of my roblox avatar, im glad ive blocked him after seeing this
you know its bad when even google tries to save you
At least with that first one you can theoretically send it as goods and services (which every reputable artist will have you use) and when they try and run off with your money you can chargeback
Fun fact I fell for an artist scam out of 60$ and they needed up tracing my ref and then lied about their “ram broken” and the picture they showed me was Linus tech tip thumbnail, huge bummer to me
imagine a world without these scammers... oh wait, that'll never happen
New Lesson Learned
**Never Friend Random ass Strangers**
The only thing I liked about Ntts is the way he explains the topic it's just so hilarious😂
When I asked them “so how’s the weather in Australia” they said they weren’t from Australia… VPN
So I did a little digging, and was able to find some damming evidence; the call center’s address.
Looked it up on Google maps, left a review of the call center with a screenshot of the scammer’s messages, and then reported to the proper authorities. 😊
This has to be one of the worst scams I've seen so far
Mainly because I'm someone who ACTUALLY sells art and character designs! It sucks knowing that someone is using a method that many people rely on for their income to scam people :(
That explains why random people wants me to buy a discord pfp in dm Lol
I got one of these on Twitter. I just said I didn’t need something made but nice to know it’s a scam.
The thing is, it's funny how here people just want to steal shitty nitro subs instead.
unironically, i may have a case of falling for the artist scam (i can already tell that they made ai art judging by their bazillion styles); but honestly i didn't really care for that "artist" much tbh and just decided to give them 25$ for shits and giggles
all i'm thankful is that it led me into being confident on how to contact the bank, and quite frankly i already wasted more money on useless stuff than 25$ anyway since i get paid every month
But.. I dunno.
When people say they’re too nice they aren’t. And your a perfect representation of that.
@@Pinapo. I don’t really understand. Do you really think people aren’t nice anymore? 😅
thanks for covering this up i got scammed by one of those roblox ones
I get half to a dozen of these scams a week. It's annoying to say the least
The artist one is an actual nightmare for us Vtubers. We definitely get hit more.
i had this guy dm me saying that he was homeless and desperately needed a commission to buy food. i felt so bad for him, and i actually tried to find him someone to commission him (i wasnt interested). i was a bit suspicious that it was a scam, but i was pretty sure it wasnt and that he was really suffering. when i told him that no one was really interested, he blocked me.
Oh these scam videos are always so yummy 😋... doin gigachad work out here, great videos!
some random person in a server i was in sent me a DM, and they asked if i had any commissions for them since they were an 'artist'. they sent me their instagram profile, and when i looked through it i saw that a lot of it just looked.. weird. their 'art' style looked VERY different every time, anatomy was weird, and a lot of it looked like AI 'art'. i showed it to some of my friends and they agreed on it not being actual art. i confronted the person about it and they immediately blocked me...
I was once actually a target for that artist scam. Didn't think it was a scam but I didn't take it because their art style was weird and not consistent. Good to know it was a scam
People who get scammed thinking they're gonna get paid being a moderator are delusional. But like all scams, preys on greed.
thank you for telling me these methods i'll make sure to use them in the future

i just started watching you 30 or so minutes ago and i love you
Humiliatingly enough, I've pity paid with one of these scam artists. I didn't ask for art, I just wanted to help someone out.
Well, thankfully it's only 40 dollars.
I once found one of the scams with the har file and I sent them one, but with the cookie redacted. They were confused.
