I'm using a version right now that's being ran by someone else, so I guess a community fork of it and it works great. The version I'm using is ValheimPlus_Grantapher_Temporary by Grantapher.
It wasnt updated by the original creator, but there are some fan updates that make it work. Search for Valheim plus by Grantapher www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/2323
That makes sense was starting a playthrough and ran into a ton of compatibility issues... kept trying to find its replacement ended up using azumat qol which i think just pulls from odinplus qol
@@JPValheim Haha gotta love how the comments don't update right away sometimes. I literally said the same thing as you, but 8 minutes later and not knowing you had already commented.
I'm in total agreeance with Speedy Paths. In the real world having a path, paved road, etc, make it far faster to travel, so this is literally just a real world mod. I always wondered why pathing didn't make you speed up in game, so when I saw this mod it was a must have. I've also been playing a no map world and pathing is mandatory. I love having even more of a reason to spend time making paths to points of interest. Irongate really need to add this to the core game, because it's a no-brainer.
Haven't really gotten into mods on valheim, just used a texture pack here and there. I will say paths are very useful in hardcore where your navigation is a huge obstacle.
I think a couple that you could have included would be: For QoL- FuelEternal, don't have to deforest the world to fuel things, or get to your base and it be dark cause torches are out; PlantEasily, is a great pairing with Plant Everything, now you can do nice neat rows.
The mod for paths it's really good, I didn't know about this. I like paths because I used to play with a lot of friends in the past, and it helped them to interact with biomes that I was not using anymore. Now playing alone in "no map" mode, I'm applying the same idea, but it's for my own navigation. Not just paths, actually building everywhere helps a lot in the matter of localization.
Hello there fellow Viking, My friend bought the game for me like a week ago, my total playtime around 66 hours or something and I'm having a blast A little bit disconnected with the world but I digress, I am considering to create a new server and going to implemented the mods in it And this video gives me general idea or which I would really want, SimpleSort is one of them (I blame my brain for getting distracted even in the middle of a fight just to organize) Thank you for your summary of the mods, I wish everyone who see this comment, whether new or veteran players to have a wonderful day and play with joy :D
The sort mods are client-side, so you dont need them on the server :) Generally, mods that add gear or characters to the game are server-side, while mods that mess with UI or players are client-side server-side = mod must be on server and also on client client-side = mod is not needed on server
Great video man. You ask what's my fav mod. So here are my mods that I have to have. 1. Build_Anything. This allows you to build without any support and as high as you like with out barking apart. 2. TorchesEternal. You don't have to have any resin and the torches will always be full and always lit. same with all the fires. 3. NoRainDamage 4. PlantEverything❤ 5. Item_Stand_all_Items 6. Not sure if it's working anymore. But I really loved it when it worked. It's ItemDrawers. Drawers that can store a large quantity of a single item. Displays the item on the front of the drawers as well as the quantity stored. I have some others, but those are my 6 favorite mods
Great Video. Im gonna install 5 of These mods. Do i have to start a new world or will these apply to every old worlds i had? R2modman is the easiest way for installing isnt it?
Yeah you can use r2modman or thunderstore its the same thing as far as I know. The mods will apply to your current character; some mods its best to make a new world; other mods are utility mods that can be used on existing characters. Its all circumstance
@@JPValheim renegade vikings isnt working for me. Its the only Big content mod i installed. Every other mod worked perfectly fine. Some of Them are really really nice. The Smaller mods with only a Little adjust like Speedy paths, the equipment inventory one, torch eternal, plant everything are really really useful
It would be nice if there was a way to upgrade your Wisp at the Guldur Table to increase its radius, using a resource from the Mistlands. I would love it if carts naturally created paths over time. Like a 25% Pathen effect on any terrain the cart passes over. So if you take a cart on the same path 4 times, there is now a purely dirt path, creating roads naturally.
That sounds like an INCREDIBLE idea! I thought they might just increase the raidus, but considering its an item... why not just make it upgradable like you said? i think that would be a great solution to the mist issue
Its been a while since I played, but the mod that gives equipment slots was an amazing upgrade to the game. I hated that my equipment took up inventory space and found it took away from my time exploring.
I think that mod is called "equipment and quick slots" and I agree, after seeing it the other day, definitely nice to have more inventory space. I really wish Valheim had an "auto sort" button to be honest. I had a mod in wow that auto sorted the inventory alphabetically and it was a HUGE time saver
@@JPValheim I was on a modding spree and i found one that did that but i can't remember wich mod it was :( But valheim should have it in the standard game.
ValheimGammaMod is a great mod for those who can't stand walking in a pitch black setting at night, sure the torch helps but ya know if you just kinda want it a bit brighter. Works great!
I have built many roads around my main start location and would love the speedy paths to be incorporated into the game. I like travelling on foot. Be nicer to get from place to place.
Big fan of the renegade vikings mod. The traders have eggs on them so if you have the gold, you can unlock chickens sooner. The area bosses drop a good amount of gold and boss items, but become annoying in the later biomes. The mod also makes so your follower vikings and wolves teleport with you. Another good mod to have with this one or instead of this one is Cheb's Mercenaries.
I only have two mods i use in Valheim. Speedypaths and OdinHorse. Having horses in the game feels great and immersive with the base game. The items from the mod is scuffed and unbalanced and should be ignored, but letting horses carry your wagon or let you ride them is just realy nice. I too hope that Valheim will implement their own speedypaths to give a reason to make paths and roads.
honestly im just obsessed with carts so if they add more reasons to use carts (like paths or attaching boar or loxen) its just gonna be even more awesome
Only use Epic Loot and Creature Level and it seems like I don't loose anything) And Speedy Roads has an interesting point. Definitely adds more realism.
Creature Level is a good combo with Epic Loot cause Epic Loot makes Valheim quite easy by default (just cause its a lot easier to get strong weapons etc). At the end of the day all that matters is you are enjoying your experience; whether you are using mods or not :)
Backpack/toolbelt mod was cool. Also the stamina hammer-no stamina use while hammer is equipped. Helps build underwater, or if you need to jump around a lot to get up to the top to build
Building underwater is like, rocker science for valheim jajaja. Did you see that video of that guy using vanilla valheim to force a boat underwater to build? Insanity lol
I love Speedy Paths, but I tone down the settings. The defaults are too much (or at least they used to be). I like a modest +5% dirt, +10% wood, +15% stone. You can still totally feel the effect without it being over powered. And yes . . . it would be great if this was added to the game! Ship Exploration is good . . . it expands the map vision while you are sailing. I don't really mind the vision when walking but its great to actually be able to map stuff while sailing. Ideally it would be nice if variable vision was added to the game . . . more map clearing when you can see but less when in a vision restricted area like a forest or the Mistlands. Plant Everything: I have mixed feelings about plant everything. I like to use it for artistic builds . . . but I find planting mushrooms, berry bushes, and thistles breaks the game. It removes the need to gather these resources which takes away one of the main purposes of exploration. Wandering in the meadows and black forest feels empty and dull when you don't need to keep an eye out for plants to gather. Mass Farming: Mass farming is great to speed up farming. I set it to plant 4 items at at time (2x2 grid). Takes all the tedium out of planting and it also lets you bulk pickup so you can speed both ends of the process. (including things like harvesting several berry bushes at once). You still have to do the work . . . its just much quicker. Map Printer is great for No-Map runs. It lets you use the Cartography table to export an image file of the explored area. So you are still travelling blind but you can review what you have explored when back at base. There are also a couple mods that let you use the Cartography table to interact with the normal Valheim map when in no-map mode (again, you can only use the map when at the table).
There are a couple of mods that add variable explorations radius which accounts for how hight you are, if you are on a boat or not, what weather is around you etc. Pathfinder is the most popular example :D
Wicked comment, learned a lot! I love hearing how people fine tune their playthroughs. I agree about plant everything, its good for creative building, but as for game progression its broken to just need somthing once, makes the world feel meaningless after youve got all the plants..... honestly vanilla valheim now does a good job of keeping resources useful. I love how mistlands recipies require things like mushrooms or bronze
Is it possible to play with mods in coop? Are there mods that add more similar to the game content like mobs or crafting to make replaying interesting?
Yeah, as long as you are both on PC then you can play mods multiplayer; you just need to both have the same setup. There are mods in Valheim for everything imaginable, the problem is... are they up to date? Lots of cool mods don't work these days so I'd have to check out myself first
I have not heard about that before. Are you using a mod automation tool like r2modman? That usually helps. If not; then it is probably one specific mod causing the problem. Disable them 1 by 1 to isolate it. Good luck!
There was a mod that put pins on the map to show uou where your ships and carts were. It was very useful even in solo play especially if you are a bit forgetful like I am. But it was hugely useful for multiplayer play. Sadly though the last major pack broke it and the creator has long since disappeared from Nexus so no current version 😕
I would like to see a paint mod, so you can make paints with different colored berries, etc. and make paints in the cooking pot that you can use to paint your builds.
2 QoL mods that I can highly recommend are Better archery and Equipment&quickslots. Better archery not just improves the way bows work but you can craft a quiver that acts as an inventory for your arrows. You can either have 300 arrows of the same type with you at all times or, 3 different types of arrows a 100 each. An that without having to have them in your main inventory. With Equipment&Quickslots it´similar. Not just can you have your own dedicated slots for your equipped Armor und Utility gear. But also 3 additional slots for your what ever you wanna put in there. Like I for example use it for food.
Oh man thats a dream with the quiver, I'd always wanted some way to shoot every 4th arrow as frost. Kinda like how machine gun bullets work. Like a quiver you could load with poison, needle and frost arrows, and it will always shoot frost, poison, needle, needle, in that pattern. could you do that with the better archery mod?
@@JPValheim No, you can only fire the arrow type that you select. It doesn´t switch between the arrow types unless one arrow type is no longer in the quiver Or you select the arrow type manually. However, Better archery has as zoom function that you can enable, effectively making what ever bow or cress bow you have into a sniper rifle of sorts letting you shoot enemies from an even greater distance as you would be able to do already. On top of that you have a 70% chance of getting the arrow you have fired back after shooting it. Just go to the arrow and if you are able to interact with it, can take it back in of later use.
I do feel like valheim vanilla has always been a bit of a train wreck when it comes to the inventory, just little things like having dedicated slots for your armor. Definitely sounds tempting to use a quiver since they don't allow you to craft backpacks.
I would stick with Vanilla. Valheim is an incredible game. Modding is cool but its not necessary to mod the game every time you play. I recommend you play vanilla until you feel like taking a break. Take a break from that playthrough and then after some time consider doing a second playthrough, maybe you use mods that time, etc. My sessions looked like this. Vanilla. group server Vanilla, solo Valheim Plus. duo (favorite part of V+ is craft from chests; I think other mods can do that too) Vanilla, solo Vanilla, duo Vanilla, solo I don't usually play with mods to be honest.
Do the mods work well even on dedicated servers with more than 10 people or could they create problems? I've tried some hosts but they always have lag problems
It depends on the mod, connections, your pc etc Personally, I usually have lag if im playing multiplayer Valheim and im in the same area as more than 2 other people; and even then combat isnt as easy cause of the lag. And thats just vanilla lol.
@@JPValheim thanks for the answer, I'm asking because I've had the game for a long time and I knew that the Valheim servers don't do all the calculation work, it's all up to the user, especially the mods. I was hoping something had changed
I dont have any experience with that one; I've only used r2modman. That being said; heres what I know about the mods in the video Valheim Raft is not functioning. It needs a fan or original creator reboot and is unavailable until then. Valheim Plus is not functioning. However; a fan remake is functioning, Valheim Plus by Grantapher Beats of Burden is semi functioning. The mod breaks the taming functionality; so you need to have the boars tamed first and then instal it.
V+ already has a mini-map reveal expansion. i set mine to 2x and it is pretty much perfect. totally agree on the paths. the only reason i really use them is for carts or when playing on hardcore.
I loved that feature of valheim + ! I think I set it even higher like 3x or something. I tried to match it to as far as the eye can see and it felt good, not overpowered but maybe thats just me!
i think i chose 2 because anything bigger made it real difficult to go over areas i had discovered, but had not fully traversed when looking for things like nodes, crypts, etc.@@JPValheim
Yeah! That refers to the last (3?) mods in the video. I may have accidentally edited out the part of the video where I say that in the end though, sorry! Just to be clear; these are mods that I believe make the valheim experience more Valheimy without changing the game away from Irongate's style. Thats why I say I could see them getting encorporated into the game. I think that beasts of burden, speedy paths(with low settings), and better whisplight are all mods that make the game more Valheimy... if that makes sense at all! Speedy paths - reduces stamina usage while the character is on a path tile. This makes running on a path is more effective than running on grass. Encourages the player to build paths; which is a very enjoyable habit in Valheim. Better Wisplight - makes the wisplight feel like BOOM. You know; like something strong and useful that really pushes the mist away! The wisplight feels rather underwhelming in Vanilla Valheim and ultimately the mist is always a problem in the mistlands whether you have a wisp or not! Beasts of Burden - Makes tamed boars able to follow the player like wolves; and also enables carts to be attached to boar. This makes interacting with tamed boars even more interesting; as a movable cart following the player is some serious incentive for the player. Lots of fun interactions happen trying to keep the boar safe from enemies Honestly though I'm probably dreaming about beasts of burden being in the vanilla game. I dunno though... they added lox saddles after all!!
@@JPValheim Ah, I see. Sorry, I skipped ahead, pass what I thought were "too OP" mods. Yeah, I'm actually surprised there are no Beasts of Burden or Speedy Paths already. It would also be nice to have some other dead viking NPCs in game. Some of us play solo, but man is it isolated in purgatory!
not sure what's up with R2modman. It does not install mods despite saying those mods are installed. I messed with it for a while until I finally gave up, uninstalled everything, did a clean install of Valheim and then did the old manual version of adding BepinEx and then moved mods to that folder and they all worked fine.
The mods get installed in a different place when you use R2Modman, because of the profiles. So you won't see them in the main Valheim folder. Thats why you have to select your profile every time you launch R2, itll ask you which game, then which profile. Or are you saying that you select mods, then click launch modded, and it launches Vanilla?
@@JPValheim Ugh! It was user error. I didn't notice I had to launch the game via Rmodman and it was pointing to a drive that did not have Valheim installed in it. So after that little fix it does indeed work. Thank you!!
So the section on the infinity Hammer. How do you use it? My hammer is still the same hammer as it standing in hammer mode with dev commands and the items are the same
Infinity Hammer makes the hammer do anything in response to console commands. You use a command like this: hammer_locations GoblinCamp2 and then your normal hammer will place a Goblin Camp. I might have made a typo but thats the gyst of it
Very good video, thanks for this! I have some feedback. You are either a bit too loud or too close to the mic so you're overloading it which is unpleasant to hear. It's also weird that when you do a cut, the music gets cut to pieces as well, as well as the music changing suddenly when a cut happens.
Honestly I feel bad for people who watch my videos with headphones xD I'm working on the exact things you've mentioned. The loudness thing is because Im in the habit of extra loud so that people on poor speakers can hear me. This is a habit I have from making informative content to non-english speaking countries. Its not necessary for my valheim content; but I haven't managed to shake the habit yet. When you make content, you have to decide to normalize the volume to people with high quality speakers; or people with low quality speakers. You might have noticed this yourself if youve ever watched The Daily Show on TH-cam. Their volume level is notoriously low; many devices in the world cannot play the audio loud enough to be heard in a typical environment. They produce for a professional studio though; so they normalize for people to have either headphones or higher quality speakers. Depending on your content; it can be better to make it too loud; or too quiet. You gotta know how developed the tech your audience uses is. You are totally right about the Valheim videos though; people who play Valheim have good enough speakers where this habit of being loud is irrelevant. The music is because I record my screen and then cut it up. I can fix the music thing by recording Valheim with sound effects only; then adding the valheim track afterwards. Again; I just haven't gotten in the habit of remembering to disable the music and then add it in post. I need to be able to consistently produce 3 videos per week; while managing the.. lets say... tumultuous... realities of my personal life. All the videos you see now are essentially me practicing my habits; because what really matters is my ability to produce valheim videos consistently over the years. All of the technical aspects are worthless if I fall out of the habit of making videos; so I often focus on getting things published and moving forward instead of doing everything perfectly. In my head, Valheim isnt a finished game yet, and my Valheim channel is also not a finished channel yet. What you see is me practicing how to make valheim videos that get people excited to play valheim... using the less than ideal tools that I have available. Let's just say there are reasons that my videos are in 720p jajaja
@@JPValheim That being said, your videos are more than decent already, I like your content :) I personally don't mind the quality as long as I can see something which is already fine with 480p and a good bitrate. I didn't even realize it was ''only'' 720p until I read this 😂 Now I'm worried about whether my comment sounded harsh, it wasn't my intention 😅
Not at all, you worded your comment very well :) You also pointed out what I consider the biggest flaws in my content; so we are both on the same page there! @@Phoenix4646
Anytime! if you want to use Valheim plus, the original version wasnt updated so it stopped working. But there is a fan version kept up to date, www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/2323
Very useful, thanks! Have you found any mods that improve the graphics? The existing in gaming lighting is beautiful but the textures, especially up close, are blocky & look like Minecraft- I run this game at 4K with everything maxed, & I would love it if there was a way to make it look more like an Unreal 5 engine in terms of beautiful graphics. Enshrouded & Aska are great examples of how modern survival game graphics can look, but Valheim still holds the survival game crown, it just needs a graphics update. :)
Right? I havent used it for a whole playthrough but it would be cool to run into npcs, I love that part of the Mistlands experience so having it piror to the mistlands sounds dope
I've seen a mod that adds villagers that you can hire and put to work for you, but it's clunky and really slows down the game load. My only concern is encountering a bully viking too early.
That's easy . . . you go to sleep and wake up rested at first light! 😉 Seriously though, you really shouldn't go out at night unless you are hunting a special monster. If you are on a multiplayer server and can't sleep then nighttime is for doing work around the base!
Only client-side mods can be used around xbox players. I have another video showing client side mods that would work next to vanilla xbox players (the players could join but wouldnt be able to use the mods) th-cam.com/video/P8TzQjbSt40/w-d-xo.html
@@JPValheim Thank you for the response and recommended video I'm going to watch it now. Are Xbox players able to take advantage of any of the client's side mods? Or do they all just affect the computer player while allowing Xbox console peasants to be standing nearby thinking why they don't have a computer? I was very sad when I had just an Xbox.
I do not know any way of an xbox player to use a mod; but it must technically be possible. I imagine with some more time, the xbox scene will develop a way to install mods
@@JPValheim Sweet hopefully. I had to wait to use mods on Skyrim back when I was on an Xbox and then I went nuts when I could and then found it I was still blocked for most. Valheim is me and my girls new favorite game that we only just discovered last week (I technically saw it when I watched let's game It out cover it on his channel but I didn't cover it on his channel just didn't know then) We are addicted and haven't stopped playing I just started to notice things that annoyed me and realized there's probably mods for this such as the ones you talk about with storage I especially love the mod that uses your nearby chests as inventory although I haven't installed it yet that sounds perfect. It's this new addiction that also led me to your channel and I think I've been binge watching your videos since yesterday or so. Love them by the way
I generally avoid using mods because I don't want to change the game too much from the vanilla experience so I keep close to what the devs are intending, (the only one I use is Planbuild every so often to save copies of my buildings so I can recreate them if I lose my world or create a new world to keep up with the extra content), but there are definitely some mods that would improve the quality of life of the game. The better wisplight is a great idea. I don't have a problem with the mists as such but the wisplight does such a poor job at clearing the mist - especially if you are in a boat where it barely reveals anything around you. Being able to upgrade it to increase the radius as mackadam5894 suggested would be a perfect solution. Equally I like the idea of reduced stamina consumption when running along paths, removing stumps from the game and automatically regrowing cut down trees. Nice video.
Im the same way; I dont like mods that remove game-mechanics and that sort of thing. They can be interesting but I feel many of them take too mucha way from the intention of Iron Gate in Valheim
Oh man that craft from container experience makes being in the base so much more relaxing, no more running around forgetting crap like a crazy person....
@@JPValheim Especially the metal! Doing a last upgrade on a piece of armor and being encumbered while bringing 30 bars from chest to forge is so annoying.
Valheim Plus does all that in one mod. You may already know that the modder went AWOL but some people who worked on it, already came out with an updated version called "ValheimPlus_Grantapher_Temporary"
The raft mod is sooo cool but it crashed our server a bunch of times and there's a bug that makes parts of the ship disappear when you gate to it. It got to the point where even when we created the most minimalist raft it still bugged really bad. The problem is with gating to the raft. It doesn't load the whole raft in before you load the game and parts of the raft just fall off or disappear.
There are few mods that work for xbox, but only when the xbox is connecting to a dedicated server. As far as I udnerstand, single player xbox cant use any mods at all.. Mods that work for xbox are refered to as "Server-side" mods. They only change the server, not the local client; so xbox players can login. Correct me if im wrong though cause im sure there is a way to get mod files onto an xbox... I dont know enough about console valheim to tell you for sure
In general, xbox players cannot join a modded world. They can only join if its server-side only, and most mods are client-side or client-side and server-side@@awardedspade1771
So which ones in particular are you anticipating to be added to the game? Just so i can gauge yer psychic abilities before Nortlands drops in a year or two. 😁
I dont think they will be integrated soon. Irongate probably wont "polish" Valheim up until after the game is finished, and then I anticipate stuff like speedy paths getting integrated into the game, thats honestly the only one that I feel very confident about because it suits the gameplay so well
Yeah 7 days can be pretty brutal to travel, but the gyro makes a massive difference there. They've got more vehicles changes coming in their game, for me I'd really like to see some vanilla quality of life to farming in valheim. It does come across as unnecessarily tedious when you get into planting things too close together.
@Swordadpt39 You can strafe run sideways as you spam the hoe and get almost perfect distancing, but the stamina cost is just too high. Nerfing that hoe stam cost would be a good balance.
Why anybody would add tier-based loot to this game when it specifically is made to feel like an older game from BEFORE a time when every game had tier-based loot is beyond me lmao. That's easily my least favorite mechanic in any game. I don't want multiple/useless versions of the same drop.
I havent used it much myself but its still updated and was recently updated so I think that it must be installed wrong. Try installing it with a mod manager like r2modman and see if ti works r2modman.com/
yeah it looks like its been abandoned by the original creator; so now either he needs to come back and update it, or somebody else needs to come along and fix it for him. Unfortunate. People REALLY love that mod; so I imagine its just a matter of time before somebody gets it going again
You have to install BepInEx on the server, and then put Server Devcommands in the plugins folder on the server. Your Valheim also needs to have serverdevcommands installed :)
Most of those work if you load them up on an existing world. however, you might have problems using that world on vanilla characters after that. Its good to make a copy of your world that is vanilla, just in case.
The mist is utterly obnoxious. The wisp still doesn’t really help you see shit and getting jumped by a gjall becomes stupid. How are you supposed to defend yourself against something you’re shooting blindly at? It’s fucking ridiculous. Was just in the plains yesterday in a fresh playthrough messing around and like 3 times in 5 days, the fog kicked in. Was annoying as shit, even with the circlet on. Sad thing is the Mistlands is actually strangely beautiful and we’re not allowed to see it. I also think it was a mistake having to become aggressive with the only friendly NPCs we’ve met so far, not including the merchants. Why couldn’t we do a small quest or purchase the extractors from the dwarves? Nope, gotta go out of our way to attack them. Great job, Irongate.
I feel ya with the dvergr; I wish there was some peaceful way to aquire their extractors; like we could buy it for 5000 coins or something. I saw a comment about making the mistlight upgradable at the workbench; so that each level its raidus gets doubled. So a level 4 wisp would have a 4x bigger radius than the current one. I thought that was a great solution!
@@JPValheim I've seen that solution too about blowing up the wisp light's radius. That'd be GREAT. A perfectly sensible idea. Which is probably why it won't happen, hahaha. I've seen a couple shots of people using the mod that allows you to do that and you can just barely crack the sky overhead, but most of it is still darkened. I dunno, but that looked pretty damn cool and still creepy. Matches the vibe of the biome.
@@JPValheim I hate that we have to choose between the Wisp and Megingjord. You have to choose between being able to see or being able to carry more weight.
I'm using a version right now that's being ran by someone else, so I guess a community fork of it and it works great. The version I'm using is ValheimPlus_Grantapher_Temporary by Grantapher.
Bajajaja yup! Honestly though, my "ideal" is that you guys can always see the next 3 videos premeiring over the next week; so you know exactly what to expect from the channel. I got behind though so I've never been able to stay ahead long enough to maintain that lol
I don't think you can use all of these mods at the same time; some of them arent compatible with one another. Especially mods that add enemies or change the game in ways like that. That being said, I use 8 or 9 QoL mods and Valheim doesnt crash at all for me
I strongly recommend everyone to play with the "Creature Level and Loot Control" mod, which strengthens and complicates all monsters (more stars and special effects). The original Valheim is easy at all stages until the mistlands, and very easy with "Epic Loot" mod
I really did like it, but the instructions and controls were not clearly written. We had players being attacked by 5 star Gjall's and 4star Soldier Seekers that wandered out of the mistlands. We wanted to have some areas bump up, we loved the re-populate villages and crypts w/o repopulating the chests and what-not. But new players were getting wiped out in the meadows by 5star greylings. And the players that loved it, were already wearing advanced gear and had high skills. Bottom line, there were tears and pleas. If I couldn't let it operate in a controlled manner, then it had to go
In the configuration file for creatures and loot control there’s a setting that makes the chances of higher star enemies spawning based on how far away they are from the center of the map. You can make it so you are only ever going to see 4 and 5 star enemies if you go to the very edges of the map and so the center of the map only ever spawns 1 star enemies at most. This would allow players to travel further out if they wish for a greater challenge or remain nearer to the center for safety.
Out of curiosity did you think the harder monster sliders with the hilders update was still too easy or from your experience before you could make it harder in vanilla?
Out of curiosity did you think the harder monster sliders with the hilders update was still too easy or from your experience before you could make it harder in vanilla?
Whenever I go to play the game, my game crashes whenever I go to load into a world. I only have mods from this video and I don't know what could be causing the issue.
Some specific mods have problems; as far as I know everything in the video works EXCEPT for 3 mods. #1 Valheim raft is broken (no current fix available) #2 Valheim Plus was abandoned BUT you can get the fan maintained version by Grantapher #3 Beasts of Burden (mod works partially, it apears to work but it breaks boar taming so you have to tame boar then instal the mod)@@inzu_
Its also possible that some of the mods conflict with each other, I would recommend just picking you favorite 2 or 3. Also try using r2modman, it makes installing mods much much easier
Yeah! I dont think that Valheim plus is worth it these days, most of the features it offers have either been integrated into valheim or are available one off with specific mods
Sometimes issues like that happen when one of the mods isnt up to date. There was also one time I had a problem like that and it was because something happened to the config file. You can try changing the text in your config file for hookgenpatcher. That fixed it for me. The config file is called "HookGenPatcher" and it is generated after launching valheim once with hookgenpatcher installed in bepinex. You can find it in the config folder in BepinEx in Valheim. I will add another comment that shows the default text you can copy and past for the file. Not sure if its the same problem but this fixed it for me.
@@JPValheim Well till now I never used dev commands or mods in Valheim in the past 400 hours I just finished a game and built cities and bases. But after 1 week break, I got tired of spending hours on building towers around my city. In short, I can play without. Devs commands but mod helps a lot.. to save time.. Thanks for the video and reply good job in sharing info. Subbed. :)
I don’t use mods, I think vanilla is perfect the way it is and could use more wacky features to build but definitely not looking to mods for that experience
I agree mods definitely are not necessary to have a blast with Valheim. Especially now that Hilder's Request adds so much customization. My favorite playthrough so far was a nomap no portal max raid hard mode playthrough. Didn't use any mods and had a lot of fun. I did use the valheim-map website though
@@JPValheim I was looking at that, it seems really dope to try an I think I’d have a lot of fun as well. I have a current world where the game mode is set on easy and looting at max just so I could build more with ease. I’ll definitely try survivor mode though looks crazy.
I had a blast man! Although, I did play with the death setting set to minimum. I honestly hate losing 5% of my skills, and I had zero fun with hardcore mode. What works for me personally is making the game as hard as possible, while removing the death penalty as much as possible. It makes it so you respawn with armor and weapons so no more naked corpse running... but you still need to go get your body to get the other stuff you had,, cause you only keep the equipped items
I actually did the opposite my last couple play throughs waiting on the big updates. Set it to hardcore, and if I died I deleted the character and the world. Last time I was just about to go kill Moder when I got one shot by a lox (ironically was in the swamp at the time that boarded a plains). Frustrating, but it was fun to see how far I could get solo with so many factors working against me. I really wanna play with the server group I played with before on hardcore, but I'll probably have a tough time convincing them to play vanilla hardcore... maybe with some slight tweaks.
thats dumb, the whole reason you remove a tree stump is to prevent the tree from regrowing in the first place. if you want it to regrow, then dont take the stump out smh
If i were u i wouldnt add valheim + even if i had to add 20 other mods(which i did in my current playthrough lol) cause its a compatibility nightmare and its not getting updates anymore
Yeah, thats a good point. Lots of the mods I shared aren't compatible with each other but theoretically they all should work individually. I went through the list and removed stuff that can't work anymore before I made the video. The only mod that doesnt work properly (as far as I know) is the boar cart mod. You can use the boar cart feature but it breaks taming boars so you should install the mod after you have tame boars. I forgot to include it int he video but there is also a version of Valheim plus that is kept up to date by a fan, www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/2323
Na your just an asshole lol You are the kind of customer I'm happy to kick out of my establishment. Complaining about content you get for free. Go somewhere else :)
Why is there no mention of any of the Equipment and Quick Slots mods out there, or any that expand your inventory space and/or chest size? There are backpack mods, too. Running around with 32 slots for inventory, 8 of them taken up with tools, weapons, and shield, 4 for your armor, 3 for food, you end up with nearly no space. My current inventory is 8x8, I have an 8x4 backpack, and I have individual slots for each armor piece, a quiver of arrows, separate slots for food, etc. Every chest in my game is 8x4 (x5 causes a scroll bar). I have no stack size limits, either. I have ONE stack of wood- 38,000 pieces, but one stack taking up one square in one chest. There are hundreds and hundreds of QoL mods that should be considered before anything gets added to the game. My game currently has 318 mods, takes 10+ minutes to load on a $4500 PC, and is so much fun with absolute zero annoyance or frustration that I can play for 14 hours with the smile never leaving my face. Modding complicates everything, but makes for a deeper experience. In my game right now, there are over 1,200 weapons. I've added 140 new monster types. Modded Valheim is one of the most fun experiences you can have on a PC.
Valheim is beautiful whether you mod it or not, that being said I'm glad you've found so much joy modding it deeply ! Sounds like you've made your own creation of sorts. What are your favorite mods?
Nice video, bro. Iy i have a play game,in truu, i hate a mods. Obviuosly for that, y play with a mods a completly another game.Bad a simple mods, or quality mods, is ok. For my, i will a bags for wiking, is cool. Or epic loot is so perfectly too. For my, i a have a cooking a loot. Why a normal game have so lesser recepis? :D Infinity mods is a not for my. If i have a bilions resorces, is a not a game. If this resorcis i mas a grind, can how meny time if i have. Is styl for people to people another. Thanx for a tips and good luck.
Tragic :( maybe it broke with the most recent update? As far as I know its still an updated mod, so probably just need to wait a week or two@@mertoz-hl9ts
Isnt valheim plus a dead mod
I'm using a version right now that's being ran by someone else, so I guess a community fork of it and it works great. The version I'm using is ValheimPlus_Grantapher_Temporary by Grantapher.
It wasnt updated by the original creator, but there are some fan updates that make it work. Search for Valheim plus by Grantapher
www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/2323
I should've mentioned this in the section about BEpInEx but I forgot to add it; so I've stickied your comment.
Right?? Its such a great fit.
Haven't really gotten into mods on valheim, just used a texture pack here and there. I will say paths are very useful in hardcore where your navigation is a huge obstacle.
Enshrouded did it valheim needs to steal some things
@@Swordadpt39 In a tangent, but what you recommend me to learn more about this "hardcore" mode?
Speedy path needs to be vanilla. Hands down its so useful if your going to put in the work for it
Right???
I think a couple that you could have included would be: For QoL- FuelEternal, don't have to deforest the world to fuel things, or get to your base and it be dark cause torches are out; PlantEasily, is a great pairing with Plant Everything, now you can do nice neat rows.
I love that Plant Easily mod, definitely is a bit time consuming in normal valheim to spend like 1/3 of the time clicking in the garden jajaja
Yeah, its just such a great fit for Valheim
Ya was itching for a new run but wanted to add some mods this time. A lot of these I forgot all about or didn’t know about. Good video man thanks!
Enjoy! It looks like Valheim raft doesnt work anymore but as far as I know everything else in the video still works
Hello there fellow Viking, My friend bought the game for me like a week ago, my total playtime around 66 hours or something and I'm having a blast
A little bit disconnected with the world but I digress, I am considering to create a new server and going to implemented the mods in it
And this video gives me general idea or which I would really want, SimpleSort is one of them (I blame my brain for getting distracted even in the middle of a fight just to organize)
Thank you for your summary of the mods, I wish everyone who see this comment, whether new or veteran players to have a wonderful day and play with joy :D
The sort mods are client-side, so you dont need them on the server :)
Generally, mods that add gear or characters to the game are server-side, while mods that mess with UI or players are client-side
server-side = mod must be on server and also on client
client-side = mod is not needed on server
@@JPValheim Oh wow I never knew that's a thing, thanks for the info !
I'll check out how to deal with both of them, have a good one !
I love Packhorse, it's the most OP mod but you just get used to it and will love it forever
3. NoRainDamage
4. PlantEverything❤
5. Item_Stand_all_Items
6. Not sure if it's working anymore. But I really loved it when it worked. It's ItemDrawers.
Drawers that can store a large quantity of a single item. Displays the item on the front of the drawers as well as the quantity stored.
I have some others, but those are my 6 favorite mods
Oooh Item stand all items sounds cool; theres a couple times Ive wanted to place something on one and it wasnt possible ! Thanks for sharing
Torches eternal is what i need asap 😳😳
Great video, Im new to pc and these mods have been so much fun. Its blowing up my brain coming from console.
Glad you enjoy it!
Commentary is on point, love the energy, but it would be better to show actual footage of how the mods work, before/afters instead of jpegs.
Agreed! But that would have quadrupled the production time, so this is what you get xD
I think I could probably do some videos on mods and show footage, but do 10 instead of 20. That would make it more realistic :)
@@JPValheim I was on a modding spree and i found one that did that but i can't remember wich mod it was :(
But valheim should have it in the standard game.
I had to stop using "equipment and quick slots" as it kept erasing armor from the game. Annoying as ****
That happens to me if I login to a character who used the mod without the mod installed; it basically deleted the armor@@michaelbockert8280
That mod was released like 1 or 2 weeks after valheims EA launch. Its amazing what modders did in those 2 weeks from just reverse engineered DLLs
ValheimGammaMod is a great mod for those who can't stand walking in a pitch black setting at night, sure the torch helps but ya know if you just kinda want it a bit brighter. Works great!
That sounds like a good idea !
The game just needs a very bright and big Moon at night)))
so this video is basically just reading the notes section of mods, instead of actually showcasing yourself?
Its just a video letting people know the mods exist, deal with it :)
@@JPValheim Just so you know, mission accomplished!
Thanks for the info!! got some nice new mods out of it, ready for my new playthrough.
Awesome! Which did you decide to use?
@@JPValheimEpic loot, the valheim plus from link in chat, mistbegone, minimap, plant everything
I have built many roads around my main start location and would love the speedy paths to be incorporated into the game. I like travelling on foot. Be nicer to get from place to place.
Always a blessing to hear people about others enjoying paths
Big fan of the renegade vikings mod. The traders have eggs on them so if you have the gold, you can unlock chickens sooner. The area bosses drop a good amount of gold and boss items, but become annoying in the later biomes. The mod also makes so your follower vikings and wolves teleport with you. Another good mod to have with this one or instead of this one is Cheb's Mercenaries.
I saw that mod on another server once and it looked like a cool thing to try out
I'd like a hammer upgrade that looks nice and maybe has some minor effect like, reduces stamina needed to build base pieces.
That sounds cool!
I just learned about the Odin mods recently; that creator has loads of other mods right? Sounds like the same reasons I like the beasts of burden mod
honestly im just obsessed with carts so if they add more reasons to use carts (like paths or attaching boar or loxen) its just gonna be even more awesome
Oh cool, thanks, I'll have to check that out.@@MrProboina
Wicked comment, learned a lot! I love hearing how people fine tune their playthroughs. I agree about plant everything, its good for creative building, but as for game progression its broken to just need somthing once, makes the world feel meaningless after youve got all the plants..... honestly vanilla valheim now does a good job of keeping resources useful. I love how mistlands recipies require things like mushrooms or bronze
11:51
there is a mod called pathfinder that makes vision on the map depending on the factors
Like mountains, weather, etc.
Thats badass! Ill make a follow up video from all the awesome recommended mods from comments like yours

I did a video on how to mod valheim with R2modman
Because I was thinking of doing a modded server with people@@JPValheim
Is it possible to play with mods in coop? Are there mods that add more similar to the game content like mobs or crafting to make replaying interesting?
Yeah, as long as you are both on PC then you can play mods multiplayer; you just need to both have the same setup. There are mods in Valheim for everything imaginable, the problem is... are they up to date? Lots of cool mods don't work these days so I'd have to check out myself first
Ive downloaded some modes but its oreventing me from going into dev mode. It just comes up with missing feild exception feild not found
I have not heard about that before.
Ive lost a lot of carts xD That sounds useful
Cool one, thanks! Might check if speedy paths works on Lox, could be cool
That would be dope
Nice video! Had a lot of stuff I'd be into testing somewhere down the line.
There are so many awesome mods it was a bit hard to pick 20 honestly!
just subbed, great video and mic sounds great. thanks brother, well done.
Thanks man glad to hear!
I would like to see a paint mod, so you can make paints with different colored berries, etc. and make paints in the cooking pot that you can use to paint your builds.
RIGHT! Im suprised more of these dont exist yet. I went to look for one in response to your comment and didnt have any luck :(
@@JPValheim
I found one called "ColorfulPieces".
So I just started my first valheim run and I'm like 6h in. Should I install valheim plus or rather stick to vanilla for that first experience?
I would stick with Vanilla. Valheim is an incredible game. Modding is cool but its not necessary to mod the game every time you play. I recommend you play vanilla until you feel like taking a break. Take a break from that playthrough and then after some time consider doing a second playthrough, maybe you use mods that time, etc.
My sessions looked like this.
Vanilla. group server
Vanilla, solo
Valheim Plus. duo (favorite part of V+ is craft from chests; I think other mods can do that too)
Vanilla, solo
Vanilla, duo
Vanilla, solo
I don't usually play with mods to be honest.
@@JPValheim Thank you for those informations, I really appreciate it! 😊👍🏼 Gonna continue my run with vanilla then!
Hey awesome video! I was wondering what were the hotkeys for the simplesort mod I downloaded but I havent figured it out
I think this is what you need ;)
"by name (default key: N) by weight (default key: H) by value (default key: V)"
Do the mods work well even on dedicated servers with more than 10 people or could they create problems? I've tried some hosts but they always have lag problems
It depends on the mod, connections, your pc etc Personally, I usually have lag if im playing multiplayer Valheim and im in the same area as more than 2 other people; and even then combat isnt as easy cause of the lag. And thats just vanilla lol.
@@JPValheim thanks for the answer, I'm asking because I've had the game for a long time and I knew that the Valheim servers don't do all the calculation work, it's all up to the user, especially the mods. I was hoping something had changed
you using vortex mod manager ? and bepinex 22 its working you ?
I dont have any experience with that one; I've only used r2modman. That being said; heres what I know about the mods in the video
Valheim Raft is not functioning. It needs a fan or original creator reboot and is unavailable until then.
Valheim Plus is not functioning. However; a fan remake is functioning, Valheim Plus by Grantapher
Beats of Burden is semi functioning.
Didn't you say you were going to suggest which of these might be incorporated into the vanilla game?
Lots of fun interactions happen trying to keep the boar safe from enemies
Honestly though I'm probably dreaming about beasts of burden being in the vanilla game.
Agreed! It would be awesome to find other dead vikings; like some kind of dvergr but for the early game
not sure what's up with R2modman.
Thank you!!
Glad its working!
So the section on the infinity Hammer. How do you use it? My hammer is still the same hammer as it standing in hammer mode with dev commands and the items are the same
Infinity Hammer makes the hammer do anything in response to console commands. You use a command like this:
hammer_locations GoblinCamp2 and then your normal hammer will place a Goblin Camp. I might have made a typo but thats the gyst of it
IH is an absurdly deep mod with way more features than that though

Hopefully that graphics update waits a year or two because I cant even run Valheim at 1080P while im recording as it is now jajaja
I need a new PC xD
@@JPValheim I have an RTX4090, the Asus strix OC version, and I can highly recommend it as an upgrade. :)
That RenegadeVikings mod looks cool

Next video should be "how to survive your first night in every biome"
Im working on that video now :)
That's easy . . . you go to sleep and wake up rested at first light! 😉 Seriously though, you really shouldn't go out at night unless you are hunting a special monster. If you are on a multiplayer server and can't sleep then nighttime is for doing work around the base!
Your video came out today ;)
How many of these mods can be used with a computer and allow a Xbox to join and enjoy?
Only client-side mods can be used around xbox players. I have another video showing client side mods that would work next to vanilla xbox players (the players could join but wouldnt be able to use the mods) th-cam.com/video/P8TzQjbSt40/w-d-xo.html
@@JPValheim
Thank you for the response and recommended video I'm going to watch it now.
@@JPValheim
Sweet hopefully.
Love them by the way
I'm saving for a great laptop but I a HP home media pc and I was just wondering if I dl all the mods will I able to transfer them over
Use thunderstore or r2modman to manage the mods, you can export a modlist and uatomatically redownload and install them that way
Thanks for the heads up
Does server dev commands need to be installed on the serverside, clientside or both?
If I remember right its just serverside but it might be both
@@JackPitmanNica yeah I had to do both, just serverside didn’t work
Thanks that is good to know!
"More Gates" is nice for building
Some of those are really pretty, thanks for showing me the mod!
Vplus has not been updated so will it work?
You have to use the fan update by Grantapher
sorry should have mentioned that in the video, overlooked it
The best mod is Gizmo, hands down (for builder atleast :P)
Nice! What are your favorite parts of Gizmo?
I feel like it is necessary for Raft to build anything that doesn't look like an Ironclad.
Oh man I didn't even imagine how that mod deals with like, rotation of build pieces... when the whole ship can move around! That must be intense
I am a big fan of Craft From Container, Automatic Fuel, Azu Clock and Bronze Age Chest as QoL mods.
Is valheim plus not working recently? Or is it just me that this happened to?
The original version is abandoned; you have to use the fan remake by grantapher
@@JackPitmanNica Thanks dude, appreciate!
Yeah, agreed, that mod is basically a game in itself. Somebody will pick up development at some point
How do you know if the mods will work for xbox?
There are few mods that work for xbox, but only when the xbox is connecting to a dedicated server. As far as I udnerstand, single player xbox cant use any mods at all.. Mods that work for xbox are refered to as "Server-side" mods. They only change the server, not the local client; so xbox players can login. Correct me if im wrong though cause im sure there is a way to get mod files onto an xbox... I dont know enough about console valheim to tell you for sure
@@JPValheim dang so it's only if I rent a server? I tried downloading the mods and inviting my friends to play and it said version not compatible

So which ones in particular are you anticipating to be added to the game? Just so i can gauge yer psychic abilities before Nortlands drops in a year or two. 😁
I dont think they will be integrated soon. Irongate probably wont "polish" Valheim up until after the game is finished, and then I anticipate stuff like speedy paths getting integrated into the game, thats honestly the only one that I feel very confident about because it suits the gameplay so well
@JPValheim Hope you're right. That would be a great addition. Used a similar one in 7 days to die fir fast travel. No portals in that game, lol.
Did upgrade world mod work with hildyr quest?
Yup! That mod creator is really good about keeping mods up to date
Why anybody would add tier-based loot to this game when it specifically is made to feel like an older game from BEFORE a time when every game had tier-based loot is beyond me lmao. That's easily my least favorite mechanic in any game. I don't want multiple/useless versions of the same drop.
i feel you, people love that epic loot mod though! I'm happy how valheim is normally loot wise. But theres lots of ways to enjoy valheim
I try Renegade Vikings Mod, but nothing Happens, continue working?
I havent used it much myself but its still updated and was recently updated so I think that it must be installed wrong. Try installing it with a mod manager like r2modman and see if ti works

super project .....cant wait
valheimraft not available anymore?
yeah it looks like its been abandoned by the original creator; so now either he needs to come back and update it, or somebody else needs to come along and fix it for him. Unfortunate. People REALLY love that mod; so I imagine its just a matter of time before somebody gets it going again
The VR mod was a game changer for me

You have to install BepInEx on the server, and then put Server Devcommands in the plugins folder on the server. Your Valheim also needs to have serverdevcommands installed :)
I want to use MOD like renegade MOD. if I have install it, should I make a new world? or my old world would be updated too?
Most of those work if you load them up on an existing world. however, you might have problems using that world on vanilla characters after that. Its good to make a copy of your world that is vanilla, just in case.
can i modded pirated valheim ?
Just buy it, Valheim is $20 once and you'll play it for hundreds or thousands of hours. The Iron Gate team is worth supporting.
Has Valplus been updated?
I'm using a version right now that's being ran by someone else, so I guess a community fork of it and it works great. The version I'm using is ValheimPlus_Grantapher_Temporary by Grantapher.

Will the game still runs properly after i install all this mods? Most of the games i tried will just result in crashes

Ill check it out!

I got my game to work but my friend's game is having the same issue.
Some specific mods have problems; as far as I know everything in the video works EXCEPT for 3 mods. #1 Valheim raft is broken (no current fix available) #2 Valheim Plus was abandoned BUT you can get the fan maintained version by Grantapher #3 Beasts of Burden (mod works partially, it apears to work but it breaks boar taming so you have to tame boar then instal the mod)@@inzu_

what is vollheim?
Welcome to another Volheim video
So valheim plus is kinda the equivelant of S+ from Ark.
Yeah! I dont think that Valheim plus is worth it these days, most of the features it offers have either been integrated into valheim or are available one off with specific mods
I installed plan mod from your last video but i cant use commands anymore... :c

“Volheim”
Hello and welcome to another Volheim video!!
Speaking of servers… one day there could theoretically be hosted monthly wipe servers free to join without discord invites 🤔🤔
Thanks!
Wow, thanks for the tip! Let me know if theres anything I can help you find :)
thats dumb, the whole reason you remove a tree stump is to prevent the tree from regrowing in the first place. if you want it to regrow, then dont take the stump out smh
It would be great if the trees regrew from the stumps!
Blueprints for building and planting would save me so much time… still vanilla though
Honestly vanilla valheim is great; I dont think mods are necessary at all. Mods are cool but valheim pc players are overly-reliant on them it seems...

Is there anything comparable to plus? I like being able to change stam on items like the hoe and lower it for the pick axe.
