I knew about the alternative Moktar game, but I never knew it was based on a french music video, and also the original version! And looking at it, the graphics, enemies, and theme make much more sense there
In April 1992 I got for my birthday present the Amiga Power magazine and it had Titus on the cover. It wasnt a great game but it wasnt bad. The character had potencial.
There are a whole bunch of games that I enjoyed play but wasn't great at or finished. its been interesting making videos on some of them as its forced me to complete them 😁
I'm surprised Titus wasn't ported to the GX4000 as well, considering they were the only publishers for he system and the console REALLY needed a mascot platformer.
Of course, you would be here. There was a port of Titus the Fox for the Amstrad CPC, but never was there one for the GX4000 considering how it was a market flop.
There are five of the best Titus games, i have ever played on my Amiga 500. And they are... - TITUS THE FOX - THE BLUES BROTHERS - CRAZY CARS III - LAMBORGHINI - PREHISTORIK A big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮. 😺👍🕹️
Finally! A little bit of appreciation for this game! It's not a masterpiece and it has flaws but it's still a funny, good looking, competently made platform game. I really don't find it mediocre or forgettable, its mechanics are more than enough to make it stand out and feel unique IMHO
Never seen the poster before, my copy of the game was… not entirely… well I already used the word “copy” but I find that interesting, with the manual on the back. 5:16 racism & plagiarism in one music video? It really is a product of it’s day isn’t it? Oh well, at least we got a good game out of it. I actually do remember the hype over the game & it was partly because of Titus’ reputation & the fact it was actually a good game. It did get tough in later levels but by that point you have the hang of the game & you’re invested enough. Never played the versions other than the Amiga. I have a thing for the Game Boy & Game Boy Color so I really should give them a go. Great video & fabulous nails, thanks!
It was a reskin of a game called: Lagaf': Les Aventures de Moktar (covered in the video). both it and Blues Brothers were built on the same "engine" but had very different levels.
I first encountered Titus around the time they were releasing this, Prehistorik, Crazy Cars 3 and The Blues Brothers so their reputation for being shitty always surprised me because everyone seemed to like those.
They had a run of decent games, but it surrounded by some average titles and some historically bad games later as well. so its a reputation that's not fully deserved.
Remember this game from back in the day. Wasn't fond of it. That there's a fan-site, expensive dos version on sale today, and a fan "remake" has me scratching my head. How can you be a fan of. . . this?
Its a game that I played back in the day and enjoyed, and playing it again for the video and I still had fun with it. The Amiga version fixes up a bunch of issues from the others that make it a more enjoyable game. is it for everyone, no.
Made it to level 4 before dying on a section jumping over carts with spikes on them by having to guess where invisible ledges where. Pressing f10 definitely helps (should have been default imho.) I can see the appeal, especially with the enemy sprite designs - but I can't say I'm a convert. Had no idea this game was looked upon fondly. Props to anyone who likes it though.
I think that might be fair for the DOS version, the scrolling was a bit of a problem with it. and something I didn't mention was the Amiga version improved the game in other ways such as you getting invulnerability for a few seconds after being hit. in the DOS version you can be hit and hit again which makes it so much harder.
Always hated this game. It’s like Titus just re skinned their blues brothers game. Can’t believe this is the only platform game on the a500 mini! Out of all the vast amiga platformers they choose this one!
The game "Les Aventures de Mokhtar" is a good game, i used to play it quite often but what a racist song. To resume, song is about arabs people being thieves and other stereotype. It was fashionable at the time in France to denigrate people from north african origin. i always thought that the game was renamed and change the "hero" to Titus the Fox because it was less racist.
I did look into the song and what it was about and it made it hard to include in the video. but its such an important part of the story that decided to show it and not dwell too long on it ("product of its time" was doing some heavy lifting). As there was just a year between Moktar and Titus I think it was more about wanting something that would resonate more with international audiences. as most would have no idea who Legaf was.
I used to enjoy Titus the Fox - the music was great!
The music is great and very catchy.

Wow I actually had this on Amiga! I remember enjoying it despite not being very good.

I loved Titus the fox when I was a kid! Discovering the secrets!!!!!!!

Titus, Blues Brothers and Prehistorc were all great - can't say I've palyed the others but I'll give thema look!
Blues Brothers was a fun game, I enjoyed playing that back in the day.
not tried the others.
I really enjoyed Crazy Cars III and Prehistorik, both are amazing games.

What an interesting story and a charming game!
The French Doki Doki Panic :D
i wish titus could comeback somehow i grab his game on gog and had a blast
I am not French, but I remember playing the original as a kid.
Wasn't this game a reskin of "The Blues Brothers?" I had this and quite enjoyed it if I recall.
It was a reskin of a game called: Lagaf': Les Aventures de Moktar (covered in the video).
both it and Blues Brothers were built on the same "engine" but had very different levels.
@@GouldFishOnGames interesting must of missed that bit (cooking while listening)
It was built on the same engine, wouldn't consider it a reskin because it would have to rely on the same game's source code.
I always found this so difficult on the amiga
Its not an easy game and best much harder the further you get into it.
and the Amiga version was made easier then the other versions as well!
You can kill many enemies with one object, by throwing it up. This way object will not disappear after hitting an enemy.
So there's Titus The Fox, The Blues Brothers, Crazy Cars III. Any other good Titus games?
I first encountered Titus around the time they were releasing this, Prehistorik, Crazy Cars 3 and The Blues Brothers so their reputation for being shitty always surprised me because everyone seemed to like those.

Coz not everyone agrees with you I guess... I liked it.
@@GouldFishOnGames I'm going to have to try it again on my 500 mini. I'll try and keep an open mind. Your video has made me curious.

There's no link in description.
Whoops, I forgot to add it.
Done now, thanks.
I just don't think you'd want to play this with the dodgy scrolling. It's like a different game when you cut from that demonstration to the outro.
I got the Amstrad CPC version with Amstrad Action. Thanks to their crap quality covertapes the last level wouldn't load...
I played it on DOS and it was forgettable, but not bad.
I think that might be fair for the DOS version, the scrolling was a bit of a problem with it.

I am the worst Titus player ever. Just couldn't get use to it...
