6:16 the sign that says "this is not a sign" has an apparent connection to the End Poem. it repeatedly mentions that the player 'interprets' that part of the game as "reading words on a screen". it can even be said that the main theme of the entire poem is the concept that the player isnt playing a game in any objective sense, but is rather interpreting the universe as though it were a game within the real world

"We apologize for the inconvenience" is God's final message to His creation, written in giant flaming letters, in the series of books The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
"All these worlds are yours except Europa" is from 3001: The Final Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke.
The buried bones and rotten flesh would be a reference to Secret Window, a movie based on a book by Stephen King where a man murders and buries his wife in the garden underneath his window, and grows vegetables on that soil. (The bones and flesh don't spell anything obvious in morse code, but maybe some 4 character code?)
Banana sound is SEGA's classic jingle.
A book taking you to a different dimension based on what's written on it is the basis of Cyan Worlds' Myst series of games and novels.
Valve famously hid messages in Portal using SSTV.

That's why there always a banana next to a very well hidden thing
Interestingly enough I haven't seen anyone suggest trying the world "Europa" since it was referenced in the final line.
It really does feel like there's a bit more to this we still don't realize, there are so many references to things and weird little oddities that all just seem to have no end point. Of course it could be just that the dev was having fun and just including references to things that he likes, but some of those worlds really do seem to border on cosmic horror.
I'd say that the worlds Isolation and Llama are great examples of ones that definitely have a foot over that line, but seeing as Minecraft's only real "horror" elements are the absoluteness of your solitude, and the complete lack of explanation as to why you exist and what your goal is, I would say that he captured the magic perfectly. It gives me nostalgia for the days when I was a very dumb child, wandering the internet for information on the elusive "Herobrine."
Thanks for covering this, I needed to see that the mysterious depths of a video game made to induce a feeling of child-like wonder can also exhume fears from a part of myself I had forgotten. This game will always feel weirdly haunted, and not even in a supernatural way. It feels haunted by the past, by memories, friendships gone, and mysteries we never had the chance to solve.
Now instead of Herobrine in my world, I find myself doing things that are ingrained in my muscle memory. I forget that I do them, until I stumble across them again, and realize where the idea came from. Instead of some ethereal ghost of some guy, it's haunting memories of the past, lost now to the sands of time.
I miss those days. Thank you again.

The Basic dimension at 23:56 is actually a reference to the BASIC code "10 PRINT CHR$ (205.5 + RND (1)); : GOTO 10" which when run on a Commodore 64, prints an endless maze until stopped.
"content" is a reference to skyblock in particular.
"llama" is definitely a reference to Portal! The room is Portal 2s relaxation chamber. and "Nothing to solve" is the point of Portal the game.
"skygrid" is a minecraft survival map made by Sethbling
In the pattern world I believe the dots and dashes could be Morse code.
In the origin world the lines are reminiscent of the structure block bounding box. (I don’t know if the structure block is in Java, but I have it on bedrock and pocket.)
The notes world gave me a sense of being watched by an invisible thing. Note blocks need a player to interact with it. Giving the world an uneasy feeling.
The library, a library of worlds with no one to read them, with stories written by the universe itself…
Take the first letter of every block in the jumbled inventory and see if there is a message.
Also the jumbled text appears in pocket edition somewhere else, I took a screenshot of it.
While your world is loading in pocket edition you are greeted with fun facts like the number of tropical fish variants. or it shows you the status of your world, like “building terrain”.
But in this case it read this mystery: “the world of Minecraft is endlessly surprising, you’ll find lots of different plants animals, plants, and even **** ****” (the asterisks representing the ever shifting letters.)
Hope the information proves intriguing and useful.
It is not letting me edit the comment for some reason, but the shifting letters were actually: **** ****, two four letter words.

It's honestly just a metaphor about existence. We are all stuck inside our consciousness (our tiny room) with absolutely no way out into the consciousnesses of other people. You'll never feel what I feel, you'll never enter my room. In fact, from your perspective there might as well just exist a single room in the entire universe (that's the philosophy known as solipsism), there is no way to prove that any other room exists. Even if other rooms exist, you'll never be able to find them. You might be trying to communicate with people around you (that's the philosophical concept known as intersubjectivity), but all you can do is throw your messages in bottles to the sea and hope someone reads them. Maybe every now and then you receive some stimuli that look like messages hinting to the existence of other consciousness, but it could just as well be the result of random chance or purely mechanical processes in the soulless brains of other flesh automata. That's what communication is: blindly flailing our arms at each other in pitch darkness while hoping that our fingers will touch. And if maybe they do at some point, all you can get from it is "maybe", all meaning you assign to that communication is pure speculation.

they're on to them
I liked how at about 23:00 it started to feel like a Stanley Parable ending
"Capture those pesky modders" is more interesting than you'd think.
Given that Microsoft is now aiming to make Bedrock modders make Bedrock add-ons instead, turning them into paid content, while also making it much more difficult to actually make mods for Bedrock. "Capture those pesky modders" is perhaps just an interesting coincidence, but maybe its a hint from years ago, pointing towards what microsoft is now trying to do.
how are they making it more difficult to actually make mods for java?
Mods are getting easier and easier to create on Java, as game's code (and it's moddability) has massively improved over the years.
@@PatboxThey banned mods on bedrock.
@@jonashoffmann9344 But that has nothing to do with java? Through they didn't technically ban bedrock modding, just made it harder due to not releasing official mappings. Through it would be possible to replace that, as Java didn't get official mappings for long time (and just made their own)

It's called Swedish Rapsody and it was operated by Polish Secret Police and Intelligence.
The voice is synthesised using a Sprach-Morse-Generator (look it up on YT), these were made in the GDR.

Eventually it's found, written in letters of fire thirty feet high, and reads "We apologise for the inconvenience."
Edit: there being 42 special worlds aside from the hidden one could also be a reference to the series, where the Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything is 42. Either way, both of these fit with the themes in the titles of "Nothing to solve", "Deepest Lore", and "Universe itself"

They all have no text, any instance of the scrambled text in the end poem is just either "§f§k§a§b§3" or "§f§k§a§b§2" in the actual file, which is just more formatting codes, with no actual text in them.
§f - makes the text white

A quick note about cellular automata, it's incredibly difficult to prove any rule that produces a complex behavior holds true forever. It's a continuous simulation whose starting environment can be totally randomized on an infinite 2d surface. Another issue is the halting problem. Writing a program that can determine if another program will loop infinitely given an input isn't possible. The program being tested could eventually break out of the loop anytime, unfortunately that time could be in 10 billion years.
27:39 isnt that the exact same noise and recording used in SIGNALIS??
Yes, along others. Spruchnummer 1, look it up, it has a familiar song related to a certain dance.
The game is full of references to the point that they're baked into the experience, Signalis would honestly not be what it is without the amount of references it uses to support itself. It all feels connected in a strange way, as if it was all meant to go together from the beginning.
15:45 Somewhat this reminds me of the Start of Portal 2
“Try it yourself, play it a little”
*Cries in bedrock*
19:32 It's a prebuilt world / a prebuilt structure. It's easier to just put items in the chest rather than creating a random chest with a loot table when that's not really necessary
19:42 As you saw in the beginning of the video the bookshelves get their book data from their position. I imagine because the world is prebuilt and they spawn in the same position, they also have the same colors always.
1:30 It is clear! In terminal dimension it used for the underscore
13:40 If it were possible to make a portal, it'd be possible to beat the entire game, but I don't think it's possible to get more than a single obsidian without glitches since you can't barter with piglins without going to the nether and pointed dripstone wasn't added until 20w48a.
19:48 Both the absence of a yellow bookshelf and a yellow dog reminded me of something when I was looking at these dimensions back when the update was new.
I thought it was strange that they made red, blue, and green tinted dimensions, and coded a yellow tint for the colors dimension. Yet there is no all yellow tinted dimension.
What’s up with the repeated absence of yellow?
...That it's not one of the regular RGB colors these dimensions are in reference to? Why would you expect yellow to be there at all?
Edit: it's coded in for the 'colors' dimension btw
Another banger video! It was very cool to watch you go through all of this, and it was great to see you flex your sense of humour. Love the SummoningSalt reference, especially since you two are very linked in my mind.
You can find the cursor in a not generatet randomly dimention( a dimention coded in the game by mojang) apparently empty and dark, but going at certain coordinates you can find an inscription like "C:\" in lime, and at the end of the inscription there is a slow-flashing lime and black horizontal "_" made of cursor blocks. This _ represent the slow flashing line of a computer cursor when you are writing; the colors, black and lime, are the "coding colors", like the binary code colored like that in "hacker GIF representations"
27:30. the kids voice is german. this kid is counting to ten it seems. havent finished the video so idk if he will say that
And here I was thinking I was gonna go to bed on schedule
🤣
@@jaybro65 Nice profile pic btw
Oh ty bro! I'm a fan of Wall•E lol

Modders know how far away Mojang Mappings are to be license-free mappings lol
A developer turning the most popular game of all time into an experimental ARG with references to Borges, vector mathematics, and numbers stations is absolutely incredible

13:33 Isn't this just the standard Skyblock starting world? It should be possible to make pretty much anything in it, assuming it is
skyblock typically includes more than that as you progress, it’s pretty much impossible to progress past making a building and a farm with only that
It's not. Normal Skyblock gives you water and stuff, and more dirt. Content has other stuff like a beacon.
i like how this entire snapshot was predicted by minecraft story mode.
REAL
I love that game
