Got to say - The Alfarrari sounded better than i thought on the racetrack, yes it doesnt have that high pitched Ferrari V8 sound you are (rightfully) after, but rather a nice growly kinda inline 4 induction noise reminiscent of old Alfas. Definitely something i could live with until the final exhaust setup comes.
As a w124 owner, i am (almost) just as interested in the e class as much as the other projects. And wow, the alferrari looked and sounded amazing on the racetrack. Cant wait to see more footage of that
thanks for the update been a fan since the Z build which help me so much in building my Z. Also love your work, I look forward to Sunday morning for your. new episodes, thanks can't wait for the FrankenHauler
Hej Jeff. Tack för årets alla intressanta och lärorika video. Ser framemot nya spännande videos under 2025. Önskar er en riktigt god jul och ett härligt gott nytt år. Hälsningar från Göteborg, Sweden.
Happy holidays to you both! You are my favorite channel by far and I just love the way you work and it has been a privilege to watch your skills grow and expand over the years. Looking forward to the new year and being a little part of your adventures!
Great to hear about all of the projects. So glad to know Harry is a forever car, it’s the project that brought me here. Can’t wait to see the new iteration. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and Mrs Jeff!!!
Thanks for the channel updates and weekly episodes. A fabulous collection of cool and interesting cars Jeff. (The envy of many I'm sure) Best wishes over Christmas to you and your family. Looking forward to seeing the Franken Hauler come alive in the new year.
Sounds like great plans ahead. Love your work and looking forward to 2025. Merry Christmas to you and Ms. Jeff. I'm converting my 72 Jaguar xj6 to a xj12, so while not as difficult as your Alfa, it's a lot of fun and I draw a lot of inspiration from your channel. Cheers!
The Mercedes of these years suffered from wiring loom problems (insolation on the wires comes off, particularly in the engine bay....easy to remake the engine bay loom. generally fixes the idle issues...did on my old w202 c220)
That is sure to fix the problem. Those biodegradable harnesses play havoc with the engines in those cars. They all have this problem and only a newly made up engine harness gets them right.
Yeah.. But when you’ve owned a car in its immaculate paint form, the chips do bug you, because you know deep down that you should’ve had some ppf put on the front end.
Thanks for a great channel. I've watched all the video's you've done so far. Harry, the Datsun 240Z, Roxter, Alfararri, Mercedes C220 and the Franken hauler. Being a mechanic myself working for myself in South Africa, just seeing how much more resources you have and the cost makes me envious. Keep up the work and looking forward for the new video's in the new year. Merry Christmas to you and mrs J. 😁😁
Hoping that means we are getting a new shop build or at least a good expansion. I do like the smaller feel to the channel but you do need a little more space for cool stuffs
thank you for all the great videos of the past year, I have watched them with great pleasure and will definitely follow you in the coming year. also for you a nice Christmas and a good 2025 🎄🎆
Thanks for the update. Pleased we are going to see the back of the Roxter, great job you've done, but you do so much better with classics. Harry, just outside you are going to strip, or the complete car again (if it worth doing ... 🤣🤣) Love the Alfa, you've managed to do something really incredible with that Happy new year to both of you, looking forward to the new updates
Hay Jeff I finished my project not that long ago and I used t30 Nissan X trail lower control arms bushes the ones from the arm to the body side as they are rubber and spiral inside they work great I have a bridge port rotary in a ke30
Hi Jeff, why don't you just use the Razor PDM from Link to help solve the couple of electrical issues that you are having with the bike PDM. I would assume that it should be a fairly straight forward swap for you with a little rewiring/re pinning of terminals from old PDM, being same brand as your ecu so it can control it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and Mrs Jeff.
@@HomeBuiltByJeff Maybe have the Razor PDM do all the major/heavy current loads and use the motorcycle PDM run the low current loads to cover all the input/outputs you need??
Hey Jeff. Great channel. Good choice in cars. German and Italian. As for the idle problem on the Merc. I would be suspicious of the throttle body. A 93 would have lots of k's and those old bodies either leak air or ware out of tolerance. The ECU gets confused because the throttle position sensor tells the ECU the throttles in the wrong position for idle and the voltage supplied to correct the position is at maximum. The two are out of sync. There are some businesses that can repair the old throttle body back to factory specs. Try googling them. Or try another second hand unit. One thing thats great about the Merc is it's easy to bump power up from 150 to 200 hp. Extractors and exhaust and a little head work will get you there. I bet if you bore it out to 240 specs you'll get over 200 hp! Save on fuel as well. No need to change engines. Cheers.
A bit sad, the roxaster is one of my fav project, i really wanted to see it totally stripped and with a real track aero exterior like something used in the cayman cup
Looks like you need to built a bigger garage next year or expand with all the project you got going on. 😄 I wish you and your wife a merry christmas and a happy new year.
Your work is first class and everyone of your projects projects is interesting. I would like to see you pick one project, like the Franken-hauler, and take it to completion with no interruptions.
Hey Jeff what about the livences plates on Harry and the Alfarari only 10 points differents and there is a long time between them when the get on the road? And happy holidays to you to!
Link ecu should have PWM capability to control the pump. Solid state relay and a basic PWM table will drive the Davies Craig EWP with ease. I’ve not see that brand controller do anything but break.
Think the Roxster needs to go bright green, fitting with the skittles look on the drive, you know it makes sense. No worries which one you work on and share, although the Merc is by far the least interesting! A bit of Harry content would be good, might need some “worth doing three times” t shirts. I do love the Alferrari the most, I’d love an old Alfa of my own, if if don’t win the subscriber giveaway 😉 I might have to buy one 😂
yoyo Jeff, thanks for the update. I'ver heard of ppl using OEM rubber engine mounts and using 3M window sealant to fill the 'voids' in the mount to firm-up the mounts flex. Not sure if it works, just an potential FYI. I love the Rockstar. Seems like some untapped potential to me.
Firming up the engine mounts is not the answer. In order to reduce the unwanted engine vibrations that are transfered to the chassis - you need to better isolate the engine from the chassis using engine mounts that are more flexibile than the currently fitted 'very firm' polyurethane type. The aforesaid will allow the engine a greater 'degree of movement that will better isolate it from the chassis.
The AlfaFerrari sounded Great Ripping up the Track! Perhaps Some Vibratechnic engine mounts, could be fitted to reduce noise and stop the engine moving. It's a UK Product and Cater for all cars, even Kit Cars! Shame the Roxster has to go. I'd finish the Project get some Good Track days, have some Fun out of it, then sell for your next Project😉 Love your Work and Happy Christmas to you both🎄🍻

The trick is to obtain engine mounts that are 'tailored to work' with the flat plane Ferrari engine - which is not a trivial task especially when space is very limited.
It wouldn't be an Alfa if it didn't have the electrical gremlins ... a bit stereotyping on my part, sorry. But when I grew up in the 70s, mostly all Italian cars had electrical problems of some sort. That time period seems to be stuck with me because newer ones don't seem to have that problem anymore.
Hey Jeff, don't fix the paint to Harry, keep it as a driver and enjoy it to the max, I have a '77 930 that I was driving it heavily and enjoyed every mile out of it, now after I did a complete restoration I'm keeping it in the garage and always fear to take it out and I completely regret it!
Love your channel and your work. I had similar symptoms with bad idle on my 1990 2.9 Litre Jaguar which had a Bosch engine management system and the Idle Speed Control Valve (ISCV). The ISCV is a stepper motor that is controlled by the ECU to set the idle, but someone had tried to fix the idle speed by adjusting the throttle plate stop screw. This results in surging idle once the engine has reach normal operating temperature. Your Merc is a similar vintage (I think?). Have you reset the throttle plate to the specified gap and checked Idle Speed Control Valve is clean and working correctly?
Got to say - The Alfarrari sounded better than i thought on the racetrack, yes it doesnt have that high pitched Ferrari V8 sound you are (rightfully) after, but rather a nice growly kinda inline 4 induction noise reminiscent of old Alfas. The Alferrari sounded AMAZING on the track. No need to mess with the headers.
As a w124 owner, i am (almost) just as interested in the e class as much as the other projects.

Here from the beginning. Love your work Jeff, and Mrs Jeff. Continuing to reinforce my inadequacies with every episode
Jeff, you should know by now that there's no such thing as "just a blown fuse"! Great work, keep it up.

This channel has been my staple sunday morning viewing since the Alfarrari had no rear bodywork. Great channel.
Merry Christmas
A Happy Christmas To you and Mrs Jeff
I'm interested in the Mercedes's idle problem because you've tried so many attempted solutions, Jeff. 🤞for the new year!
Merry Christmas and thank you for allowing us to follow your projects.
Whatever future projects you have up your sleeve, Jeff, I'm absolutely here for it.
Keep up the great work! Great to see quality channels growing and doing all the right things!

Thank you for so many hours of interesting videos this year. Happy holidays, Jeff!
Update idea for the V8 badge while keeping the scars/patina - use clear epoxy to fill in the gap on the V, as well as seal in the patina gains.
Here since the beginning as well Jeff (& Mrs Jeff)... have enjoyed all your exploits in and out of the shed, and will continue to do so.
Have a great festive season Jeff and Mrs Jeff , look forward to your garage activities next year.
Great work. Looking forward to seeing the completed projects is 2025. Blessings to you and your family

The Alfa looked really quick on that straight!
Black on black harry Jeff mate..

Merry Christmas and Happy new year 🎉

That's what Vibratechnic mounts are designed to do. They keep the engine from moving whilst keep the Vibrations to a Minimum

The earlier W124's had that system, mine is later and has no ISCV... :(
The insulation breaks down easily on the MB 90’s and 2000’s wiring harness. Check that.
Header pipes on the AlFerrari ? Waiting to hear the exhaust note
