Oh, and FYI, Hourglass was launched 20 years ago at Barney’s in NYC. The reason we have these 3 additional palettes is because Hourglass is celebrating their 20th year as a brand
I live in NYC and went to the pop-up about a week after it opened (it closes on Oct. 11th) to pick up volume III. I’m glad I waited a week after opening because they had just restocked Volume III. They completely sold out of it the first week they opened! But you are able to swatch all 3 palettes before buying. I had just received my Lotus palette (customized in Dragon packaging) and was absolutely loving it. I have At Night and Mood Exposure in small singles and was happy with both shades. I must say, I’ve worn the Barneys palette a few times over the past few weeks and am quite pleased with it. I wear Eternal Light (from the trio palette - my 1st Hourglass palette) as my main finishing powder so am quite happy it was included in this collab. So far, I’m very happy and have gotten several compliments on my makeup when I wear it. I’m a Fenty 420 medium deep and a Pat McGrath MD 24 but they work for me. Not the bronzer in the Barney’s palette - an additional finishing powder, but I can get the bronzer in the Lotus palette to work with a bit of buildup. But I usually reach for a Fenty, PML or my YSL bronzer if necessary.
@@typicalkelly6871 Haven't worn that one yet. More of a Spring/Summer color for me. When I swatched it, it was a lovely coral pinky color. When I decide to wear it, if needed, I might mix in a little of the At Night (one of my favorite Hourglass blushes) since it has a brick red undertone to deepen the coral color. I like mixing blushes in my Hourglass palettes to get the look I need. Especially in the Lotus palette. If I don't want to wear Red-0 on its own, I will mix a little of Desert Flush in to lighten the red blush. The two together makes a much more soft, terracotta color. If you live in the NYC area, the pop-up on Prince Street is open until Oct. 11th. Maybe go in person to swatch it like I did then make your decision from there. Have a fabulous day!!!
I just received the volume 3 barney's palette today. I just had to get it, I was soooo curious about that blush 😂 They have definitely doctored the photos because that Lucid Glow blush is not yellow at all (thank goodness) it's a mix of coral and peach. It's actually really pretty but I haven't tested it out yet. The bronzer shade is LIGHTER than the finishing powder which makes zero sense lol. But I think it would make a good finishing powder for my complexion...time will tell. Honestly if they'd done a deep bronzer this would be a solid release. Maybe I'll try mixing the mood exposure blush with the bronzer to see if that will look good on the cheeks 🤔
The bronzer for this palette makes no sense at all. I wish Hourglass included a deeper one to complement the finishing powder. I really like your idea of applying the bronzer on the cheeks as a blush but I don't like having to "make things work" with a luxury price tag
Please report back after you’ve tried the palette. I’m interested in how Lucid Glow will work. So silly of them to put a darker finishing powder and a lighter bronzer. I genuinely think theyre not thinking it through properly
@@typicalkelly6871 I wore it today. Someone commented that the bronzer could be used as a contour and to my surprise it actually did contour my cheekbones. I don't contour much so I probably won't reach for that shade for that. The lucid glow blush definitely showed up. It reminded me of iridescent rose but with just a slightly warmer hue. And the at night blush is not really as red as it looks in pictures. More of a plummy burgundy maybe? Very pretty and also showed up. I like a very very light application of blush so I only dipped in lightly twice for both and the color payoff was there and lasted all day. If you're thinking of getting the palette just for lucid glow I don't think it's worth it. Not different enough from other colors in their collection, at least on my complexion. But I do like it and will wear it for sure!
I would say hourglass released 7 palette. 6 of which are for light to medium skintone and 1 palette is for darkskin. They have release only 2 finishing powders for us 4years ago and they have since refused to give us any more finishing powder. I would say though that using bronzer from the lighter palettes as finishing powder is exactly what I would have done.
Lowkey, as merch, I'd buy the toilet paper 😂 I bought the Lotus palette and the "bronzer" is a skintone powder for me. I was sad but, I can still use it as a finishing powder.
So... I wear NC45 in Mac or 13.5 in Hourglass foundations and purchased Volume iii. I was going to purchase At Night blush anyway and the 10% off discount code appealed to me. I emailed customer service and asked who this color story was for. It has Lunar Bronze bronzer (Jellyfish 2023's lightest bronzer) and Eternal Light finishing powder (Lotus 2024's deepest finishing powder). They said VERBATIM: "Lunar Bronze will work great as a contour shade on customers with deeper complexions." I can't stand when contour and bronzer are used interchangeably especially by brands with 20 years of experience. It hasn't arrived yet for me to test. This release is weird. I agree they should add another palette to compliment deeper skin tones.
Update: My palette arrived. Out of the 3 blushes, Lucid glow is my favorite. It is the most pigmented out of the group and has a peachy/orange hue with small shimmer particles that give a divine glow. At Night blush is disappointing; I expected more red/burgundy. Keep in mind these are the swirled, ambient lighting formula, so if you're looking for pigment, I wouldn't pick this up. These work great as blush toppers that add a hint of color with lots of glow. The bronzer is the same color as my skin so I'll probably use it to blend out my deeper bronzer and contour products. I love the finishing powder, Lucid Glow, and the highlighter but I could do without the other 3 shades. I used my Rephr 05 brush to apply 3 heavy layers to see the pigment but you can't pack on something that was never there in the first place🤷🏾♀. I'm going to keep it because I collect them, but I'm disappointed.
I'm sorry it was disappointing! I'm still interested in picked up Vol 3 too...I like to collect them and the Hourglass formula is perfect for effortless looks which I've been loving lately.🧡
Either the Version 1 or Version 3! You don’t really get a bronzer in version 1 but I have it in the elephant packaging and I will say I use quite a bit. Version 3 does offer you three different blushes which is cool though! Especially cuz they all look so different from each other.
I’m wondering if Barney’s is making a wink 😉 and a memento of our Covid Lockdown run for toilet paper. Lol! Gotta laugh at something during those times! 🧻🏃🏽♀️💨😜😂🧡
besides lacking in pigment i also just think the marbled blush shades look tacky and unappealing in the pan, and always have. their elephant and lotus palettes are the only ones that have ever appealed to me because of it!
The swirled, ambient lighting formula is not for me. For a no makeup makeup look sure, but 99.9% of the time, I want pigment and visible blush. I'm disappointed. I'm going to pick up the Lotus palette and avoid the ambient lighting blush formula from now on.
@@iamjamila I hope you did not take that as criticism toward you. It does not have anything to do with it. I just can’t see anything new in them that I haven’t seen before.
The way black women continue to support Hourglass is diabolical at this point 😂. I’m shade Tahoe in nars for reference and their shades are a stretch for me. To hear women of color say they can make it work cracks me up. For those prices I’m not forcing anything to work. I know the influencers get paid regardless just for making a video and us commenting so I’m happy to support but hourglass needs to do better l

How does the pink blush in the Barney’s palette work for you? Does it show up?

Volume 3 is on my Black Friday wishlist if by some miracle it manages to still be available and they put it on sale 🧡

Yup the pigment is pretty nonexistent with those marbled shades
Nice Tfs none looked like they fit me so I passed
Totally understandable.

I don’t see anything exciting in those palettes at all. I’ll save my hard earned makeup dollars.
Fair! 🧡

They gave us 7 palettes & none of them is for dark skinned. They keep playing in our face. Every year the same B.S.
Insane! you're so right 🧡
Toilet paper! Hail no!@@. 😮
lol right!
A pass for me. Not interested in a brand that does not cater for all skin tones.
