I do not think this video is too late. I feel some people may be waiting for them to show up at other retailers and this will help them decide. Even though I ordered the lotus palette, I am trying to decide if I want the evil eye palette. Initially I was turned off by so many pinks, but I love the way the look on you.
@@shannantiffin8119 I've been liking the evil eye palette too - the rosegold highlighter 🤩 (first time for Hourglass!) and the neutral blush! Also always nice to have a blurring finishing powder. I was in doubt about the rosy blushes too; the palette is an investment - you would want to love all shades. I felt the 2 blushes were similar, however on swatches I have seen that the coral and cooltoned pink do translate differently. I do not like the evil eye, but I'm gonna customize it to lotus!

That red blush went from adorably flushed, like you just frolicked around outside during the winter, to High Fashion once you did the blush draping. It's soooo pretty on you!
OMG! You're totally mesmerizing! Your method of makeup application is an art in itself...let alone how gorgeous the final product is.❤️ I'm so glad I discovered your channel today. I clicked the bell!✌️❤️
The Lotus palette looks so good! I’ve never purchased hourglass because as you said the colors don’t seem very saturated and I like color! It’s good to see they are expanding but still a long way to go
I'm always interested in what you say about these holiday palettes. BTW, 2 out of the 3 may be Asian symbols of luck inspired but the 'Evil Eye' (🧿 Nazar in Turkish/Kurd) is from the Middle East and is a protective symbol. It literally wards-off evil eyes (of others) and sometimes used to protect (or encourage) babies. It predates the monolithic religions, although still worn by ME Christians, Jews and Muslims (and others) all over the world, either as the eye symbol, the protective colour blue or the hand (of Miriam or Fatima).
Your videos are so informative for us! I appreciate all the time it takes you to put this together! Your comparisons are extremely helpful to us that are still on the fence about colorations AND designs! Have a fabulous day and again….you are the best at all comparisons for products!❤
If anyone loved the elephant palette from before there is a limited edition Barneys one that has the elephant shades in. I buy a couple of these each year and hit pan with daily use so never mad about repeats. ❤
These are the best HG palettes yet! 😅❤🎉 I picked up Dragon with the dragon colors & the evil eye but inside the lotus artwork 😍 stunning powders & stunning packaging ! I think these will surely sell out sooner rather than later … not trying to create FOMO by any means though … if anyone, however, wish to customize the packaging; there is a waitlist to customize the evil eye colors in the other compacts; It seems that the medium color story is the most popular ! I love that they finally gave us five new shades per palette and the deepest one is finally headed in the right direction ! I have had a love affair with hourglass powders for years ! All of the palettes looked absolutely lovely on you, Alicia as always 🎉 and yes, these pallets can absolutely be worn on the eyes ❤
O0oo, I'm so excited to see this vidddeo, Alicia! 🎉 I hope you have a lovely weekend and the weather in NYC is nice! 💫 Using the setting powder as a bronzer in the lotus palette is such a great idea! The pans that palette are so pretty, I could just look at it and zone out at the shades. 😂😂😂 🐈 🌙 Your earrings are so dainty and cute! I watched them twinkle the whole time haha. I want to get them for myself for Christmas. 😆
Thank you so much for your review ❤I have never bought an hourglass palette and was seriously considering it ! Many people didn’t like the Evil eye but that was the one that would suit my skin tone . After watching your review I feel more confident about my decision ,so thank you 🙏
I've already placed my order (dragon color story in lotus packaging - my first Hourglass palette), but I still love watching different content creators' reviews and demonstrations. They all look stunning on you, and your application skills - damn! So many overdo it imo, your looks are super elegant and stunning.
I’ll be curious to see how far they pushed the needle with Bronze Heat. I would also like to see someone who is deeper complected mix Red O and Bronze heat together (or even the finished shade) to see if they can create a some depth and flush at the same time.
I snagged the evil palette in the dragon case. It’s very pretty. I use with a light hand. It’s really a lovely formula. First time ever buying hourglass and I really am happy.
I was patiently waiting for your review of these palettes. I am interested in purchasing two palettes because all three have 4-5 new shades. I have a deeper skin tone and I am happy to see that the colors are deeper this year.
Omg at first glance I was nervous about the lotus palette but once you put on the eyeliner and lashes!!! My goodness! Absolutely beautiful and I love how you went in on the red shade but easily diffused it down!!! The eye palette was made for you! 😍 Great video 🙌❤️
Since maybe 2016, maybe earlier, I wait for your reviews on hourglass palettes. Thank you for always being so thorough and objective when reviewing yearly releases some of us look forward to
I love that you used the powders as eyeshadows!!! When I saw the palette with the lotus design, I was immediately drawn to it! This is my first Hourglass palette, even though most of my makeup since 2016 has been from Hourglass Cosmetics-none of their previous palettes ever spoke to me until now. I signed up for early access, and when I received the sneak peek and saw Red 0 included, I was so excited. This year, I decided to change my lipstick shade, having always stuck to their "I'll Never Stop" (Beige Nude) Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Lipstick. Feeling daring, I tried Red 0 in the Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Lipstick and instantly fell in love with its stunning red shade. For reference, my foundation is Laura Mercier's Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation in 4N2 Tea (medium with neutral undertones). My perfect shades are the Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Nude Bronze Light, Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure (soft plum), and Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder in Euphoric. I justified purchasing the palette mainly for the Red 0 blush, knowing that even if the bronzer, finishing powder, and highlighters in the Lotus palette were too deep, they could still work as eyeshadows. When my first Hourglass palette arrived, it confirmed my suspicions: aside from the two blushes, and the bronzer (which I use as a contour powder) the other shades were indeed too deep for my complexion. However, they make amazing eyeshadows! I really hope Hourglass makes Red 0 a permanent shade in their range and starts offering more neutral shades. It would be even better if they introduced the option to customise the shades within their palettes.
Thank you. I watched this video 3 times. Your video is not too late, the palettes are not available here until 15th October. My complexion is medium with warm undertone, similar to yourself and I can only buy one. Which one do I buy? The evil eye or the lotus? Which one is your favourite? You didn't actually say which is your favourite. Thank you again and I hope you have a lovely day.
Either should work. Evil eye would give you everyday, work friendly or subtle looks. Lotus similar but stronger looks, but with a light hand , buffed back (and brushes used) would work. HG quality helps so it is up to you how you use them. Hope that helps ❤️xx
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! I’ve been searching for a person with a more tan complexion to finally do a video on all 3 of these!!!!! Conclude why it took utube 2 weeks to find it❤
I don't use foundation at all. I just apply primer, then buff the Hourglass powder over my face, then apply the blush, bronzer, and highlighter. Th radiant look I am left with is beautiful. Hourglass powders definitely create the most filtered looks! Thanks for the great video!
Thank you for reviewing dragon too. I had a feeling I could probably wear that one along with evil eye and lotus, I wanted to be sure I could pull it off. I really love those soft colors for an every day I work from home look.
Alicia thank you for this review! I was in fact waiting on your review to make my purchase. Haven’t seen too many medium skin tones review these to reach a decision and the website!
I was looking at the Hourglass palettes that I own and I haven’t gotten one in years. I think this might be the year that I’ll get one of these. They are all so gorgeous.
I have the Dragon 🐉 palette and the #2 palette in the Lotus flower 🪷 packaging. I love the palettes but I'm gonna say the blushes in the Dragon palette look really similar on the cheeks. The strobe light powders are really intense so if you are super fair use a light hand or use them on the eyes.
I have a light/medium, neutral complexion, so I ordered the Evil Eye and it works great!! I am in love with the neutral peachy blush and the highlighter. The neutral blush reminds me of nude glow from the original unlocked edit from a few years back (my other most favorite palette from Hourglass). Your looks are beautiful, as always :)
This video was great. I can’t believe you were able to make all 3 work for you . I got the medium palette last year and I love it. I’m eyeing dragon because it’s not as pink blushes Do you think dragon is the way to go for light skin ? Will the setting powders work on my cheeks or just for under eyes ?
All palettes looked good on you, but that Lotus palette was extra stunning! I wish I could wear it, but I’m Casper the friendly ghost pale. I’m pale for a Scandinavian, lol. I got the Dragon palette and it works great for my complexion. I do wish the Dragon palette didn’t have two finishing powders, though
thanks for the in-depth review - love watching you from Hong Kong. I am Chanel B30 skin tone and I bought the evil eye one. so excited to see it worked for you beautifully. At timestamp 33 you used a big buffing brush - which one was that? It worked beautifully to diffuse everything. Please share. Thanks
Hi Alicia, thank you for your dedication to reviewing these three face palettes by Hourglass, i don’t have anything from this brand, mainly due to the cost . Love Katherine xoxo
Hi, Alicia. Natasha Denona has a sale going on. The Bronze and Yucca palettes are a bundle. I swore I wouldn't by anymore makeup but that Yucca palette is soooo beautiful and the price for the bundle isn't bad, $110. Decision, decision, decision. And I heard great things about HourGlass products. I will try one day.
I have the lotus pallette and the bronzer is actually a contour on me, it's distinctly cool toned on my skin which is ok because on a cooler toned dark skin tone it would look amazing and the peachy blush doesn't show up much and it also not very warm? it's almost dull , like it's muted with like a hint of grey on my skin tone when I build it up? Overall I like the direction hourglass is going for, the lotus feels far more curated for darker skin then the tiger which is the other one I own, the tiger felt a little confused, like hourglass didn't want to commit to making a pallette for dark skin.
Mine are also delayed😅 ordered via Air Mail from Europe. Dragon and Eye in Lotus design. It will be my first palette (light complexion) and the evil eye is a present (tan complexion) Also ordered the dual brushes. I'm one of these seemingly rare people who uses dual end brushes and enjoy them. On office days I do my make-up while commuting by train and I store brushes mostly in bags for that purpose. I love the lucky charm palette design and to me it is very international. There are so many more people in this world than north america and western europe. Most of my international collegues were delighted by this years packaging. But they absolutely need a 4th dark variant. Great and fun review, thx✨🪷🐲👁️
I love these palettes ! I usually get one first and then wait until sales to get the rest. Something about these that are so fabulous. Will wait until they are at Ulta…need those points!
I'm still digging away at my elephant palette, so I need to abstain. However, lotus is my name meaning and my favorite flower. But no, no, I mustn't!!!!
I’m so excited for this post! My order arrived last night. The box was completely open, but thankfully the palettes are ok. I bought the Lotus and evil eye (with the dragon cover).
I got the evil eye pallet and I really like the look of the art work. I think it’s unusual and interesting. A little more original looking than the dragon or lotus palette art work. It’s uplifting when I get it out. I also like what’s inside too! Great colors.
I love having two finishing powders in the palette because that is the most unique product from Hourglass. Hope Hourglass sees this message and keeps offering this in future. It would be great if they could include a cool and a warmer finishing powder in the same palette. 😍 Always love your Hourglass palettes review Alicia! Your demo of the Lotus palette as eyeshadow is stunning! 😍
This years palette are customisable as well! Hourglass has two separate product pages a standard and a customised one. I almost went with lotus packaging and 2nd curation but then I bought the standard lotus palette.
Thank you so much for your review. I can’t decide if I’m buying anything this year. I’m not going to become a collector and I want to optimize my purchase. I have to seriously look at my blush collection for duplicates. I do love the hourglass powders.
I still love and use my mini 4 shade hourglass palette. It's perfect for me. That evil eye palette though... it caught my eye in a way I didn't expect because I don't like pink blush. I could see myself loving it without the two pinks but they are wearable.
We are shade twins, I got the elephant palette (medium) two years ago and LOVED IT. This year I got the deep palette for variety, but they need to go deeper. I’m still waiting on mine.
I love these new HG palettes.. I still have to get the Lotus Flower, don't know why I didn't go ahead and get it... The Barney's of New York is coming up too and they are saying it is like the elephant palette that I missed... BUT even if not THEY are all customizable.. The Barneys of NY is so stinking cute... I am on the list..
I’ve been waiting for this! I’m excited for these. I was that lotus packaging but idk if I will purchase cause the one best for my complexion is very similar to the one I got last year. We shall see.
Hey alicia just an fyi Morgan turner posted a video and mentioned you can customize these palettes as well but it’s hard to find on the site. She did post a link to take you there. Just wanted to let you know. Also you’ll really like the evil eye palette that’s the one I got and used today and it’s gorgeous!! Highlight is interesting thought would be too dark for me but it wasn’t. It’s a marbled rose gold very pretty.
On tik tok, I couldn’t see the texture of these powders thanks to all the beauty filters, and your video just showed me why it’s not worth it to me, I just don’t like the shimmer. I’m clearly a less is more girly. Thanks for the closeups and the high res!
I used Charlotte’s link as well. I’m so glad I did, because when I first attempted to buy it on the Hourglass US site, it would not let me customize my case. I too didn’t like the evil eye cover, so I chose the medium color option with the Dragon cover. I’m close to your complexion (a bit warmer undertone) and love the colors. I agree the Dragon palette is beautiful. It’s my first Hourglass palette and I’m happy with it so far.
Currently on the Hourglass website you can choose your artwork + palette option - perhaps it was only for the preorder that didn’t allow it? (I want to try the deep palette with that dragon artwork!!! 😍🐉)
@@aliciaarcher on my phone i clicked on the featured image on their homepage after googling “hourglass holiday palette 2024” and got there - and sorry for the repetition I didn’t see the other comment saying this!

Thanks for this! I'm your complexion but South Asian, and I bought the lotus palette because I don't like pink blushes, but the evil eye palette looks great on you so am wondering if I should get that one too now!
I actually like having two finishing powders per pallette because with my past holiday pallette, I hit pan on finishing powder before anyrhing else. But Im also aware that Im a minority for my preference 😅

I'm thinking of getting the evil eye palette shades but with the lotus flower design. I'm also planning on buying the Barneys colab which has the exact shades as the elephant palette. I was going back and forth on buying it and always regretted not getting the elephant palette. I have my chance now.
Yeah, they were cheaper…someone said the theme was “good luck” in Asian culture. Also I haven’t watched all the episode yet, but they have gift bags and boxes on the hourglass site as add ons. I wasn’t into the evil eye palette but I did like the gift bag, was in love w the dragon design, but wasn’t interested enough to get it until I saw the boxes and bags and that made me want all of it. I’m swayed by the most ridiculous…Early Xmas gift to myself, via Klarna 😅 and 10 percent discount.

Alicia, if you had to pick up one, would choose Evil Eye palette from 2024 or your Tiger palette from 2022? I love your videos. Thank you 🩷🌸🥰🇧🇷
thanks for the in-depth review - love watching you from Hong Kong.
Could you please review the Barney collection as well? I am between the volume 3 and the evil eye one, but I really cant decide🥲
Phew! Keep me updated!
I would support that as well-more of a distinction between the finishing powders. One for under eye and another for all over the face.
Awesome video! When I went on the website you can choose the packaging! I’m medium complexion but love the dragon design
I will definitely try the dragon pallet. I am a little lighter with a reddish complexion, but he sold me on the dragon.
also thank you for this lovely review!!
Christmas list. The Dragon palette is definitely on my Christmas list.😊
Sounds good!
Yes! Do you see the pinned comment and community post?
@@aliciaarcher it wasn’t their when I posted but I saw it after looks like we both posted around the same time
Great minds think alike. 😊
The dragon palette looks lovely on you!!!
Thank you!
On tik tok, I couldn’t see the texture of these powders thanks to all the beauty filters, and your video just showed me why it’s not worth it to me, I just don’t like the shimmer. I’m clearly a less is more girly. Thanks for the closeups and the high res!
I customized to get the dragon exterior because I was born in the year of the 🐉 and had to have it!!! Luckily with points in my CC
Alicia, just to confirm: the finishing powder in the dark palette does work for your skin tone, including under the eye?
I used Charlotte’s link as well. I’m so glad I did, because when I first attempted to buy it on the Hourglass US site, it would not let me customize my case. I too didn’t like the evil eye cover, so I chose the medium color option with the Dragon cover. I’m close to your complexion (a bit warmer undertone) and love the colors. I agree the Dragon palette is beautiful. It’s my first Hourglass palette and I’m happy with it so far.
Right I had to search for it, and happy that I was able to find it.
Evil eye LOVE IT ❤❤❤❤❤
Currently on the Hourglass website you can choose your artwork + palette option - perhaps it was only for the preorder that didn’t allow it? (I want to try the deep palette with that dragon artwork!!! 😍🐉)
Maybe-I posted a pinned comment with a new link! For some odd reason, I had to search “custom” in order to pull up that page 😮💨
@@aliciaarcher on my phone i clicked on the featured image on their homepage after googling “hourglass holiday palette 2024” and got there - and sorry for the repetition I didn’t see the other comment saying this!
I was able to choose the dragon palette packaging with the deep makeup option- I had to search around the HG site for a few minutes but I did end up finding it! Debating getting the evil eye palette...
The blush on youuuu!!! 😍😳
You can still customize this year. It was just a little harder to find, because they were serious about that early access link
You weren’t kidding! I pinned a comment and posted on the community board 🙆🏽♀️ Thank you!
Thanks for this! I'm your complexion but South Asian, and I bought the lotus palette because I don't like pink blushes, but the evil eye palette looks great on you so am wondering if I should get that one too now!
I think it leans more terracotta/peach, and was pleasantly surprised! I like it more than 2022’s medium palette.
@@aliciaarcher wonderful--peach blushes are the only ones I wear so will definitely have to get that one too. Thank you!
What is your foundation shade in MAC ?
I'm picking up the dragon palette, I'm just waiting for Cult beauty to stock it because I have store credit 😊
I actually like having two finishing powders per pallette because with my past holiday pallette, I hit pan on finishing powder before anyrhing else. But Im also aware that Im a minority for my preference 😅
I picked up the lotus flower packaging and the mid tones.❌️⭕️
Omg I'm broke and they're beautiful last year I got the deepest with the owl package cause I don't like snakes..this year I love the dragon but there's no altering the package😢..thank kinkysweat
There is! That was my fault and I posted a pinned comment about it: you can custom order it here: go.shopmy.us/p-7735889
If anyone’s confused about Alicia’s palettes because they have custom covers:
Alicia’s Tiger palette = 2022 Palette 2/Elephant palette/medium palette
Alicia’s Elephant palette = 2022 Palette 3/Tiger palette/deep palette
Alicia’s Owl palette = 2023 Palette 3/Snake palette/deep palette
WE ALWAYS NEED YOUR INPUT ❤
what brushes did you use?
Also I think you were too excited when you were ordering or maybe the option wasn’t available at the time cause when I checked the website a couple of days ago you could customize.
Interesting because I’m on there now and the product page doesn’t offer a customization option. Unless it’s on another page?
@@aliciaarcherI think it's on another page. I got the medium but with the dragon and I just looked & the page to customize is still there - but I remember it was hard to find
@@aliciaarcherit's on a different page! When you click through the main page towards the palettes, you get the non customizable options. For the ones you can customize, I would look with the search button.
@@RoseOfMadina ah! Thank you!
Ah you beat me to it! I just commented this too :)
Not at all! You don’t have to go with any waves, rather quality, wise purchase and an even stunning review ❤
I honestly have not bought any of the palettes. I was waiting on your review. The evil eye design is my least favorite design. I'm thinking of getting the evil eye palette shades but with the lotus flower design. I'm also planning on buying the Barneys colab which has the exact shades as the elephant palette. I was going back and forth on buying it and always regretted not getting the elephant palette. I have my chance now.
I told myself I did not need the lightest version for that peach color. Then I watched my skin twin put it on.....
I wasn’t ready 😮💨
Yeah, they were cheaper…someone said the theme was “good luck” in Asian culture. Also I haven’t watched all the episode yet, but they have gift bags and boxes on the hourglass site as add ons. I wasn’t into the evil eye palette but I did like the gift bag, was in love w the dragon design, but wasn’t interested enough to get it until I saw the boxes and bags and that made me want all of it. I’m swayed by the most ridiculous…Early Xmas gift to myself, via Klarna 😅 and 10 percent discount.
Alicia you can pick your pallet cover again, like last year.
You can! That was my error in not checking. The affiliate link I clicked to buy my palettes didn’t have the custom option, but there is one! I just had to search for it, as it wasn’t on that product page:
