    As a new rider (restarting really at the young age of 56), just wanted to say thank you for this video as well as your other videos. My goal is 30 min a day or more of exercise. Don’t really like ‘exercising’. Love cycling. I have a Domane SL6 in red on order that should be ready in a week or two. Your videos helped me lock in on the Domane. Thank you! Excited about developing a regular cycling routine and continuing to learn from your videos.

    I was getting worried about your absence, so great to see you again John! Glad you are bouncing back, and its good timing as I need cycling content more than ever! Just broke my clavicle and got another 4-6 weeks on the shelf, so my routine has been destroyed and everything you said really resonates. Its either youtube cycling channels or spending all my money on cycling gear so please keep 'em coming!

I’ll do my part to put out as much as I can during these next few weeks to hold you over. Can’t wait to hear when you are able to get back out there!

      No pressure taken Stephen. It’s actually motivational to hear that. And I’d love to help, so hearing that my videos can help someone motivates me to make them. Like I’ve always said, we feed off of each other and grow together.

    1. I ride every other day, mainly to minimize depression. If I miss a couple iterations, I risk getting blue, so routine is crucial to me.
    2. As an old guy (69), my main risk is riding too hard and tweaking something. Routine helps me stay within reasonable limits.
    3. It's a pleasure to hear from you again. I look forward to your future videos.

    Glad you’re feeling better. When I had Covid, I felt like I was dying! I caught it right after saying goodbye to my pops at the hospital as he took his last breath. It was tough. But daddy didn’t raise no wimp. I’m having my domane sl4 built, hopefully done tomorrow. I need to make a lifestyle change and be more positive just like how your videos make me feel. Also, my dad didn’t pass from Covid, it was many clots, strokes and weak heart. That’s why I want to start cycling to make my heart stronger. Keep us updated bro. And any tips on upgrades for my sl4 would be greatly appreciated.

    • @johnmanuel7561

      First, I want to say sorry for the lost of your father. My father passed away in my arms 3 years ago, so I can feel your pain. Glad you are looking to bounce back Johnny and looking to improve your lifestyle. Cycling is a great way to do that. Lots of physical health and mental health benefits to cycling. Congratulations on your new Domane SL4! that’s a great bike! I would suggest riding stock for a while to get use to it and as time goes on and you feel you want a little more speed, the best upgrade to make is some carbon wheels. However, for the short time, if you are a data driven person and like to see your progress, some early purchases may be a bike computer, power meter and heart rate monitor. These are some things than can measure where you are and you can evaluate your growth.

    @John Manuel Hi, I've been in the market for a road bike (beginner here) and the Trek Domane has caught my eye. I've stumbled upon your channel thru researching Domane bike. I must say I love your passion for this bike. Love it. Being a very experienced Domane user, can I ask you a question on the bike to make up my mind on what size I should choose?
    Is standover height clearance important on road bikes? Specifically Domane? Because I noticed the top tube slopes a little bit, not a straight line. I have an average leg length(31" inseam) and I think I can clear the bike standing over right at the middle on a 54 sided Domane, but a little bit forward on the bike (near head tube) I think it will hit my balls (just eyeballing the slope). With a 52 I think I have enough clearance even at the very front near the cockpit of the bike. But fear the overall dimensions of the bike maybe too small for me (I have medium sized torso but very very very long arms)
    Hope this question is not too loaded. How about you, how does your Domane do fit-wise? Thank you. And more power to your channel.

    • @johnmanuel7561
      @johnmanuel7561  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mike! I appreciate the support and you taking the time to watch the videos. Great questions and hopefully I can help. As far as the fit, the quick answer would be to get a bike fit which can help determine which bike to get for your size. Another thing I would suggest, is just testing one out. Even if it’s a higher end or lower end one that you don’t plan on buying, at least this can give you a gauge on how the Domane fits to you. Lastly, I do understand what you are saying with the slope, however I can’t think of a scenario where it would impact you. So, even if it’s a “close fit” to the boys, closer to the head tube, as long as the clearance on towards the seat is good, I would say go for it.

    • @miken.bulaong3233
      @miken.bulaong3233 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnmanuel7561 Thanks for the reply John. Yeah I'll take your advice and try to see how I size up with a friends bike (52 or Small in Giant sizing) it's not exact but can give me ballpark at least. Getting a bike fit is in my next priority too. But probably in the near future. Hopefully I can make do with a guestimate bike size for now. Thank you again for the reply man.

    How do you prevent getting hit by cars or lots of traffic. Do you ever recomend riding on the sidewalk or only the roads.

    • @johnmanuel7561
      @johnmanuel7561  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well in many places, riding on the sidewalks is illegal. You have to be very cautious and comfortable in riding in traffic. We are constantly communicating with each other.
