So glad to have found your channel. I camp in a VW van and don't have much towing power. Been thinking about spending some money on a fishing kayak, and you sealed the deal for me!
Hey bro, you're going to love that boat. I bought mine last year. I'm still adding, and resetting, my electronics, add-ons, and accessories. and the skies the limit. I can walk all over her, sit on my Black-Pak in the tank well, and cast. I had a Hoodoo120 PDL, and a Impulse 120 fin drive. They don't compare to the Oldtown's.I also run the new PP 768 J2 Bixpy, on the Vibe, Gravity rudder kit. As for dad. My dad, taught me at 5yrs old to fish salt and freshwater. At 10 yrs old, I was driving his 24ft Boston whaler, in the keys. Learning how to navigate, fish, markings, signs, down to navigating. A lot of us have learned, from our dads. He bought me a 4ft inflatable raft with the oars. I'd pack a cooler with drinks, snacks, my tackle box, and, of course the live night crawlers. The raft was my own little vessel. Just a new adventure, was exciting, on a small freshwater lake we lived 100 yards from. Anyway, These Oldtown's are just awesome, the quality, the hull, everything is so well built. Great vid bro. God bless, stay safe. 🙏 🌊 🎣
Id like to thank ya for the vid...Im wanting the get a this yak. At the end of ya vud taljing about ya pops. My pops ran away from me for 54 years of me being alive. I remember all my life, I just wanted to have a relationship with him...but he never took the time. I got tired of it all about a year and a half ago. After being told by him "he didnt care if I called him" That was the last time I ever talked to him...he died aug 11th. days ago. 😔
Hello. I'm new to this great hobby. I ordered an old town sportsman pdl 120 kayak but I haven't received it yet. I ordered a rear storage tub from Amazon but I don't know if it will fit. Is it possible for you to measure the rear cargo area?? If you can I thank you in advance......I love your honest videos...
Welcome to the Old Town club! I have had mine for about a year, but have never used any of the other makes/models. It was a great step up from my old paddle kayak. Glad your review seemed to validate my choice! What mounts do you use for the camera and fish finder? I need to find something to use...Appreciate the content.
After using for a while are you still liking the Sportsmand 120? Have you been on a Bigwater? Trying to decide between the Old Town 120 Sportsman or Bigwater. My primary purpose is to fish in the ICW and back creeks off of the ICW and I'd like to be able to throw a cast net from the kayak. The Bigwater looks a little less stable for throwing a net but it looks easier to pedal (or at least faster). Are you finding the Sportsman is easy enough to pedal? How comfortable is the seat for a longer trip?
I still love it! My friend has a Bigwater and the sportsman 120 autopilot. He flipped the Bigwater a few years ago and lost a lot of equipment because it wasn’t as stable. In the video coming out Friday, you’ll see that I threw a cast net very easily from the Sportsman 120 while standing and had no issues. The seat is very comfortable as well and it’s easy to pedal.
There are some big sheepshead and snapper there. I’ve also caught quite a few under slot snook there as well. DM me and let’s see if we can make a fishing trip happen.
I have the same, I LOATHE the turn radius on mine.... Wonder if yours has the upgraded bolt on the rudder? I just got mine will install it... Cause mine turns horribly.
What I noticed yesterday was that I had to make sure was fully in the down position. After being out for a while, the up and down from the waves raised it up some. It felt hard at one point, but once I pushed it back down it was fine again. I hope that helps.
@@TheKayakWarrior I think that's my deal... I've noticed lately the rudder handle doesn't go all the way down... I didn't install it, but may have to look for a fix. Glad you liked your maiden voyage, Lord willing I'll be going out tomorrow.
Lady fish cut up makes great bait, red fish love it

Just ordered the PDL 106. So excited
Thanks for the scripture brother! 💪
You’re welcome sir!
Very nice kayak. Happy Father's day. Enjoy your new Kayak.
Thank you and Happy Father’s Day to you as well!
Needed that scripture. One of my favorites that sometimes I may not always honor my folks like I should all the time.
Praise God! He is so kind to gently remind us of how He desires us to love one another.

Nice video Kayak Warrior. What is that attachment that swings out and holds the fish while you remove the hook?
It’s called the Overboard Pro overboardpro.com/shop
Thanks for the link Kayak Warrior. Just what I need for my kayak.
@@Usnret0196 I use it all of the time, especially for saltwater catfish and stingrays

@@TheKayakWarrior Sorry, one more question. Do you have an anchor trolley and if not how do you anchor? Would you recommend one?

If you wanted to go out and pedal around for just a work out do you feel it gets the heart rate up?
Oh most definitely! You can also get a good leg workout.
I didn't know there was fish in Mc Kay bay. If you ever wantto go out of Apollo Beach ,, let me know.

I've been considering the 120 over the 106 as I'm 6'4". Out of curiosity, how tall are you and how comfortable are you?
I’m 5’10.5”, I’d go with the 120. I have plenty of room and am very comfortable in it.

How tall are you vs leg room?
I’m 5’10” and there is plenty of leg room. While sitting I can’t touch the front of the cockpit, still have 8-12” of room
