It's a fucking miracle that I love Dungeon Crawlers after having this as my first one. All I remember is frustration at how it was KINDA like 3.5 that I had started playing IRL and how slow the combat was. Which I guess is accurate to the tabletop game!
AWWWWW YEEEEE - Officially asking now that this be a full playthrough because watching you play RPGs, especially tactical Gold Box-ish style is my absolute jam. EDIT: I wrote that before it even got started. Now having heard the weird bonks and screams and weird battle system, I am still in although I am laughing more than I expected at the ridiculousness of it.
Final fantasy VI is great and all but I just can't get enough of these types of games, where he gets to make his own party! That and point n click adventures 😊
I am overjoyed you're doing another D&D game! With more old, beloved faces (sorta)! If you want to edit in some music, do the Warriors of the Eternal Sun soundtrack! Add to that nostalgia, plus that soundtrack still rules.
I remember I arrived at Abu Dhabi International Airport and we had to wait for our next flight for Philippines. I saw a shop that sold GBA games so I asked my dad to go with me to buy some games. Guess what I bought? Yup, I bought this game. I was a young teen and this was my first exposure to a DnD game. It was my first time playing a game with such themes and genre that it was completely new to me since I was more of a JRPG gamer. I enjoyed making characters, but I think I didn't get far until I gave up xD
Thank you Jared! I love it when you play old dungeon crawlers =) Happy DnD-Cember!! EDIT (Having seen the whole video): It does seem a bit rough with the characters barely able to handle themselves at the onset. Don't drain yourself playing something joyless, if that's how it seems.
I have been waiting for this one a long time. I learned after years of playing this that you can swap active menu characters in your party by using L and R. Would have really helped with merchants and dialog options earlier
Oh man, the Sleep spell seems really useful after all. I never used it before as a kid because I thought it was dumb. Now I see how powerful it can be. I wish I used it in my playthroughs. Expect a lot of misses and whiffs until the characters get some experience
I went in with a roster of six party members. My battles took a bit longer but I think it improved my chances quite a bit. I had a couple of fighters, a wizard, rogue and a cleric from the start. I did manage to finish the game a couple of times. It isn't terribly long. Just have to get the characters to where they are capable that's all
Loved this game back in the day. Permadeath IS a thing of you hit -10 hp. Also need point blank shot and precice shot or you will NEVER hit with ranged weapons. It's -2 to shoot past allies and -4 to hit when target is in melee with an ally 😭
i'm surprised he's never done Neverwinter Nights from what i can see, i remember playing that back in middle school like crazy and not understanding anything cause i didn't know what DnD was at the time
Weapon Finesses requires a Base Attack Bonus of +1. Rogues at level 1 have a BAB of 0, so you'll have to wait until level 3 to get it (unless the game has multiclassing and you can take a level of Fighter). Looking forward to seeing Vlad carry the party. If the numbers in this game are accurate to 3rd edition, Magic Missile is going to be basically worthless.
My favorite lets plays the last couple years are your D&D game let's plays. Mainly because I have little knowledge of D&D and like watching someone in their element play 👀
A D&December game sounds amazing right now. I'm also glad to see the love your showing for the gba I love that handheld so underrated to me personally.
OH MY GOD. I JUST REALIZED WHERE I REMEMBER THAT DEATH SOUND EFFECT FROM!!!!!!!! It's from The Legend of Grimrock!! THAT GAME STOLE IT FROM THIS ONE OMG
To those who don't know the timeline of Forgotten Realms D&D games, Eye of the Beholder and its sequels take place a month after the Time of Troubles, approximately 10 years before Baldur's Gate 1 (and Siege of Dragonspear), 11 years before Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal), 78 years after Icewind Dale, 14 years before Neverwinter Nights, 48 years after Icewind Dale 2, 16 years before Neverwinter Nights 2, 121-134 years before the Neverwinter MMO, and 135 years before Baldur's Gate 3.
Thanks to Dylan for adding music to the game. After the character creation screen, it's completely silent aside from sound effects. Makes the experience much more enjoyable. Edit: The fanfare is also in the game, forgot that very tiny amount of music.
I've watched through all of your D&D content on all of your channels quite a few times. They are always my favorites series'. Thanks for the content. Let's go D&Dcember!
I remember playing this version when I was younger, I never even really knew dnd when I first played this, let alone most of the functions. It's refreshing seeing this game again and seeing it played properly. I might try and see if I can find it and play it again from this trip down nostalgia lane
This game is actually very fun, the one thing i love the most about it it's there's NO FOOD MECHANIC... i really hated that in the EotB PC games... seriously. (No compass to navigate the dungeons is kinda annoying, but it's not that bad).
So excited to watch this! Gonna have to come back later for it but tonight I'm gonna curl up with some hot chocolate and a blanket and have the time of my life with this video.
Yeah, 3rd Edition! Lots of misses, huh? I remember playing an entire campaign as a wizard and connecting on ONE attack (for two damage) the entire time. I was there more for solid fog and web and all that good stuff. I don't recall a lot of D&D games that use 3rd Edition, so I'm excited for this even if it looks a little wonky. Hey, at least you get a map in this version!
Alert gives you +5 initiative and you cannot be surprised attacked while character is not incapacitated. Point being was my go to's was always Observent and Alert in 3.5 and virtually nothing was changed between the two as far as I could tell by reading both PBH's. Toughness for HP bonus is a good choice also.
Don't forget 3rd Ed's firing into melee rules that impose a -4 penalty on attacks if you don't have precise shot as a feat (which requires point blank shot first.) Might help Vlad hit more with their sling :)
B.A.B of +1 needed for Weapon Finesse if I remember and 3.0 and 3.5e Rogue is B.A.B of average +0 at 1st lvl and +1 at 2nd and beyond with a feat every 3rd level (fighters get a "fighter feat" every 2 levels) so yeah that's why. Also yay love seeing 3rd edition love (3.5e is my fav)
This one is definitely funny with the sound effects. Hearing those loud painful screams for doing 1 damage feels so out of place and hilarious. I got no issue watching whatever you feel like doing
Jared, the pain of seeing you take lightening reflexes. Not only lightening reflexes, one of the worst feats in general, but on an 18 Dex rogue!? Oough, ow, the paaain xD
One of the Sounds, when a character is hit, is straight up from Goldeneye 64. o_O And the victory jingle I know from a lot of low budget Macintosh games from the 90s.
I never heard of this game. Another interesting game on a portable system is Dungeon and Dragon Tactics on PSP. Jared played so many DnD games I don't remember if he played this one yet.
Weapon Finesse requires BAB +1, Rogues have a 3/4 progression (+0 at lv1), and Fighters have full BAB, hence why Dylan could choose it and Jerd couldn't.
IRL I think it'd make sense if the target also got concealment and cover bonuses, but I think this game is just checking if the creature is in an adjacent space or not.
I've owned this game for many years now and every once in a while I pull it out again and think, "This'll be fun, why haven't I played this more?" Then 20 minutes later I'm putting the game away for another few years. Maybe this one shouldn't be a full playthrough...I'd love if you could prove me wrong, but I doubt it.
DnDecember lives! Sorta.
Yes, I love this for the dnDecember vibes!
Seriously my first reaction as well.
DnDecember shall never die!!! Or at least it’ll live on in our hearts
"so Vlad's busted"
Lore accurate.
Jared's DnD series are always the best. I still watch Warriors of the Eternal sun
F my old boots! That was 2 years ago!
@joeh5315 where does the time go?
Weapon Finesse prerequisite is Base Attack Bonus of +1. Fighters also can select it as a Fighter bonus feat.
Ran into that little wrinkle when I built my bard back in the day. Doesn't feel great, lemme tell ya.
It's a fucking miracle that I love Dungeon Crawlers after having this as my first one. All I remember is frustration at how it was KINDA like 3.5 that I had started playing IRL and how slow the combat was. Which I guess is accurate to the tabletop game!

Final fantasy VI is great and all but I just can't get enough of these types of games, where he gets to make his own party! That and point n click adventures 😊
Nice to see Vlad back on the channel for a bit
Every time we like this video, Vlad puts his own party to sleep
I am overjoyed you're doing another D&D game! With more old, beloved faces (sorta)! If you want to edit in some music, do the Warriors of the Eternal Sun soundtrack! Add to that nostalgia, plus that soundtrack still rules.
The most frightening of all D&D locations, the Ecto Cooler Sewers.
See a ProJared video, click a ProJared video. I don't write the rules, I'm just glad to follow 'em.
I remember I arrived at Abu Dhabi International Airport and we had to wait for our next flight for Philippines. I saw a shop that sold GBA games so I asked my dad to go with me to buy some games. This was my first D&D game! Thanks for covering this.
That fanfare at 1:18 is sooo nostalgic! It was used in Brazil for the intro of El Chapulín Colorado.
I came here to say the same thing. I was expecting the rest of the song every time
Thank you Jared! I love it when you play old dungeon crawlers =)
Happy DnD-Cember!!
EDIT (Having seen the whole video): It does seem a bit rough with
the characters barely able to handle themselves at the onset.
Don't drain yourself playing something joyless, if that's how it
seems.
Depressed Galadriel is my favorite D&D character.
I have been waiting for this one a long time. I learned after years of playing this that you can swap active menu characters in your party by using L and R. Would have really helped with merchants and dialog options earlier

D&Dcember lives ;-; i missed your D&D game playthroughs!

Welcome to the D&D world!
Vlad with a wicked smoky eye.
Hell yes, D&December is back baby, let's gooooo
Thank you!!!

I played the SNES version back when it was new. Got about 20 minutes in, got slaughtered, never tried it again.
I remember DnDecember. But I'm young like Jared.
My favorite lets plays the last couple years are your D&D game let's plays.
Mainly because I have little knowledge of D&D and like watching someone in their element play 👀
We need some royalty-free dungeon ambiance to complete the vibe.
always enjoy your vids.... but.. only stayed for the hilarious screams
Jerd, Dylan, Rose and Vlad! This is goi no to be better than the Dungeon Hack playthrough.
A D&December game sounds amazing right now. I'm also glad to see the love your showing for the gba I love that handheld so underrated to me personally.
Since Jared is into dungeoun crawling, he could also look into might and magic series
Also Wizardry
Also Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
Jerd please, we crave a full playthrough.
Only if you are enjoying it too though.
OH MY GOD. I JUST REALIZED WHERE I REMEMBER THAT DEATH SOUND EFFECT FROM!!!!!!!! It's from The Legend of Grimrock!! THAT GAME STOLE IT FROM THIS ONE OMG
Or more likely they both use the same sound database.
Never beat the game. But funny enough to watch someone else go through it
I got this game as a kid and yeah, this is exactly how I remember that experience going.
I bought this when I saw it. I first played the SNES version, loved it even though I couldn't win, but couldn't pass it up. So many good memories.
Thanks to Dylan for adding music to the game. After the character creation screen, it's completely silent aside from sound effects. Makes the experience much more enjoyable.
Edit: The fanfare is also in the game, forgot that very tiny amount of music.

어둠속에 나홀로 Alone in the Dark 2 작가 그림 일러스트네 .

I never heard of this on the GBA? That’s so cool. And it’s based on 3/3.5 neat.
I've played it, not as fun as the og release.
Glad to see the hard drive had something left in it
This is pretty rad! Want this game for my gba!
“We’ll, Vlad’s busted”
Yeah, 3e Wizard, what were you expecting?
I played this many years ago. Was my first exposure to D&D in a Videogame format.
Finally got to this. This party is fantastic! Can't wait to see more!!
Loving this! The sound effects are so silly 🤭
This game is actually very fun, the one thing i love the most about it it's there's NO FOOD MECHANIC... i really hated that in the EotB PC games... seriously. (No compass to navigate the dungeons is kinda annoying, but it's not that bad).
As I live and breathe - DnDecember returns!
That kobold is definitely a member of the 1HP Gang.
So excited to watch this! Gonna have to come back later for it but tonight I'm gonna curl up with some hot chocolate and a blanket and have the time of my life with this video.
13:56 So is Vlad just naked?
I love this series! Please more DND content.
That does look like Rose 😉
True 😉
Vlad is missing with that sling again. Guess lot’s of likes on this video.
Warriors of Eternal Sun is one of my favorites so I'm looking forward to this play through!!
I feel like a ton of love went into this little GBA game. Those screams didn't need to be so good! 😅
Dylan: Man did you see that move in the last fight?
Rose: No... I think I might have narcolepsy.
Vlad Whistles
Another DnD tactics game playthrough, another game for Vlad to miss with slings in. All is right with the world.
Damn, we’re eating good here lately
If nothing else this drives us a very long way to the eventuality of Baldur's Gate 3. How far we've come.
Long live d&december, keep it up Jerd
That fucking kobold fight is no fucking joke. It's a nightmare to actually get through
A D&D game? In December?!
These fights made me laugh, i could go for a second part
OMG such a treat ty jaroid
I’ve waited for D&December to kind of return. I’m hyped!
It's not boring - yet. I want to see at least another episode or two.
Oh man, if Pierogi the Plankton wants us to fight Xanadu, the situation in Waterdeep must be dire indeed.
Oh never mind I'm definitely here for this series too, heck yeah.
Oh yeah, D&December is back (kind of), let's go!
D&Dcember!!!! The reason you cant have weapon finess is because it requires BAB (base attack bonus) +1 as a requirement iirc
ProJared: Pro Tip, if you fling the GBA, you cast Magic Missile.
Ngl, love the silly little kobold sprites
This is fantastic, please play more of this silly thing
This one is definitely funny with the sound effects. Hearing those loud painful screams for doing 1 damage feels so out of place and hilarious. I got no issue watching whatever you feel like doing
one of the sound effects was in daggerfall as the female character death
Feels older than 3E, honestly. Fresh heroes having infant wrists and paper defenses, that is.
the type of games i wish i could sit down and play lol
As much as it has UI issues it is overall an enjoyable game, especially for the GBA.
So hard to find a D&D game that is just a D&D game
Jared, the pain of seeing you take lightening reflexes. Not only lightening reflexes, one of the worst feats in general, but on an 18 Dex rogue!? Oough, ow, the paaain xD
One of the Sounds, when a character is hit, is straight up from Goldeneye 64. o_O

forgetta-bout it in a Italian accent lol
"Xanathar"
DON'T TOUCH THE GOLDFISH!
When I saw the title I was like "Huh? I swear I've heard ProJared mention this game before" then I saw whose video this is :v
ohh, acid splash, I heard "you know ray of frost, asses flash..."
Attacks of opportunity when you try to take a potion, on a 1st level character... brutal.
"Vlad's busted!" he always was
11:46 Vlad’s a muscle wizard! Or a…CrossFit wizard due to the Con.
I have heard some of those screams before, notably from a Warhammer 40000 game called Final Liberation, when infantry get shot.
16:33 How is that one kobold attacking Dylan from around the corner?!
IRL I think it'd make sense if the target also got concealment and cover bonuses, but I think this game is just checking if the creature is in an adjacent space or not.
I've owned this game for many years now and every once in a while I pull it out again and think, "This'll be fun, why haven't I played this more?"
