So these are ports of budget ZX spectrum games. Games that literally sold for 1.99 British pounds back in the day or roughly the equivalent of $6 USD today. A little surprises to see them all on an NES card
@TrusteftRetroWeekend just because of the age of the games. I'm sure that was the idea, to try and take the British practice of selling multiple games in a budget package but the problem with that with cartridges is carts are so expensive it screws up the value proposition. This would have probably sold for 30 or $40 back then which is equivalent of 60 to 80 now
@ Didn't Codemasters at the time release some/all of their games for the Nintendo consoles without the license/hardware inside the carts? That should made them cheaper. Anyway, I don't know as since the 80s I was into computers. I've never seen in person a NES.
@TrusteftRetroWeekend cheaper but still way way more expensive than games released on cassette tape. Aladdin deck master did get the price down to a more reasonable $20 for cartridges that would plug into the main unit but that was way way late in a Nintendo life cycle. The Genesis had been out for almost a year by then
This is one of those NES games you had (at least I did) that I have no recollection of buying or receiving. Strong memories of playing it, but no idea how I ended up owning it. 😅
Aww, you arent on the ice hockey side of the ice hockey/blades of steel? To each their own. I don't think I've ever liked or taken a quattro game home. I'll stick to bible adventures for my knockoff game in my home, and game genie as my codemasters product. Hope this is a great year for you and yours Trav! Thanks for the video! I was almost sad there werent quattro (4) quattro games, almost. Truly 3 was 3 too many.
I've seen rumors that there's a ROM revision that fixes Baseball Pros to not always play all ten innings, but unfortunately I don't know or care enough about baseball to feel like testing a full game on it yet. I respect it for having in-game Allister Brimble music, though! I guess you can tell where this was made by the fact that they didn't reach for the stereotype of naming one of the London Royals "Nigel."
You wanted engine sound effects in the BMX simulator? So I assume you would like some engine sounds on a sailing boat game? I am not defending the game, I can't stand it, but engine sounds? lol I have only played the Atari ST version, AFAIK, which does have pedal sounds, but the problem I have with it (which might exist in other ports) is that your biker can easily get stuck at the edge of the track and not being able to return, forcing you to lose the game. As for the other games, yes what you said lol. Though I never played two of them at least on the NES. I played Tennis IIRC and did not like it. I was not a fan of Codemasters in the 1980s. They got better in the 1990s. Thanks for the video.
A little hum for an engine would make sense if they also have collision sounds. Why have complete silence otherwise? Are these electric dirt bikes from the 80s?
Yes, I expect BMX riders to make their own engine sounds with their mouths as everyone does when they ride a bicycle. Quit asking.
Codemasters: "Wait a minute, you want both sound effects and music in the game? You crazy yanks."
that sigh at 4:30 says it all! 🤣
Lol. Hey dude, good seeing you around!
@@NESFriend Hey Trav! I still watch every one of these videos (I should probably comment more often) :)

@ Ok. I didn't care in the 1980s, I certainly don't care about it in 2025 lol.
Happy gaming and thanks for the info.
“hands down” joke and “look at this idiot” almost made me laugh my coffee out 😂 thanks for the review 🎉
I also laughed at those parts

It's true. Some of them are like ants that just find a way into your home.

Oh I like both
I think my Grandmother bought this for me off The Shopping Channel. Played it often. The BMX game kept me occupied. All the games had a certain charm.
Grandma's rule dude
Ah yes, everyone knows that former president of Egypt Anwar Sadat was a great baseball player, good to see him on the African Allstars.
A nightmare on the base path, for sure
The fact that you didn't highlight the African Allstar player "Ken" is downright criminal.
@@AInWisco Ken's in the Bible. Broviticus 19:12.
I wouldn't know, I was raised in a Power Rangers household
@@AInWisco that sounds fun! lots of karate at dinner
I owned this as a kid. Only liked the bmx and soccer game.
Soccer ain't bad!

I can only say Nigel in a British accent. Impossible otherwise.
Camerica is a Canadian company but yes Codemasters is British.
AH duh. Thanks!
Check out the DrunkFriend podcast, the link is in the description 👌
go sports!
I'm heartbroken after watching this video. Now I know I can never trust Thor Ackerlund again.
We have to heal together
They only included baseball to make the other sports look good
Good on ya for staying alive. 😁
New video, hell yeah!
These games, hell no!
The music in this game is so Commodore 64
Now there's just the Arcade one to do, right?
Correct

@@NESFriend I am beginning to think you are either trolling, or have no idea that a BMX is not a motor bike. They are bicycles.
@TrusteftRetroWeekend you're telling me you don't make engine sounds with your mouth when you ride a bike?
@ No! That's stupid! I only make explosion sounds when playing shoot 'em ups.
😂 it’s none of these games
