@@AndreasSpiess we use to do the same here, however, we have most of the garage doors on rolling code. how we do it, plug the original remote into the headlight and with a relay, you simulate a button press via the HIGH BEAM switch on the handlebars. awesome video . now there is 2 things i have to put on my wish list . LOL . I also like how you used while to count off the balance of the 500 . very clean and small bit of code but so handy for many timing things. After watching CNlor 's video about getting a ESP8266 to broadcast color TV , i half expected to see you use a ESP v12 for the transmitter . Great projects as always.
+XerotoLabs Good Idea. I Think, It should be possible to create a 40 MHz signal using internal timers. And if not, 13.3 Mhz (40/3) should be possible. And because the ESP creates a square signal it should have lots of 3rd grade harmonics to open a garage...
+XerotoLabs By the way: This timing procedure is my standard procedure because it is non-blocking. You can do something in the loop. And it is more precise because it takes the rest of the code also into account. Delay() does not do these two things. There is only one small issue: If millis() or micros() gets big enough it starts at 0. This loop has no delay because millis() is smaller than entry right at the beginning. This is why I usually use unsigned long numbers.
+XerotoLabs I saw the video. It is really interesting. For my case, I have to hit the two frequencies quite exact as I cannot trim the receiver as it was possible in the old TVs.
I use a extra opener remote. I soldered in a relay that simulates a button press when I honk the horn. I power 85 from the horn. 86 connects to ground. 30 and 87 connect to the remotes button solder points. I use the battery in the remote. It lasts fo years.
Also a good idea. I wanted to have it waterproof under the saddle of my Harley. So I had to go this way. But in a car, your method would be preferable.
Thx, i want to use your idea for control test a Gps controled RC car(with Gsm+gps), but i've found an another device AD9851, it can go from 0-70mhz so it can be used for more device, and cost just 2-3$ more than the AD9850. Do you know if it's compatible with the AD9850 Code ?

Please help. I'm following your video but I'm stuck at finding the part to repeat the 390MHz FM signal from my garage remote. Can you please recommend a chip?
Great video! I am going to try this out! I find your videos always very useful and you have a pleasant way of presenting them! On another note, just out of curiosity, is it common in Switzerland to remove your license plate after you park your car? Or is that only if you own a black car? @0:55 and @11:33.
Dear Spiess.. i bought dvb-f+fm+dab receiver, which is same with your video ( blue one), and installed sdr.. but there are millions frequencyies, i can not find my remote controll frequency.. how can i find it? i am pressing button but nothing change on sdr program...
+Yasin Demircioglu You have to find out in which band your transmitter works. Usually, you can google this. If not, try at least around 433 MHz, because many remote controls use this frequency. Without knowing the band, you have to check the "millions" of frequencies.
thanks, i found it at 436 mhz.. and record it, and open it audacity like you, and zoom it.. and then sound record graphs does not seems like yours.. there is no angular sound graphs, there is a zigzag graphs.. i can send photo of it or sound file.. so that i cant convert it to 0-1.. my mail is: yasindemircioglu@hotmail.com
Many modulations exist, so, if you use the wrong one to demodulate, your audio file is useless. You can also not judge from the audio file which modulation was uses. So, google and experiment. It has to contain digital signals...
At the 5m17s mark, what is meant by the 'sender uses "short" 500us signals, while the "long" uses 1ms'? Also when re-creating the signal, I assume the transmitter repeats the signal over-and-over while the button is pressed?
nice sharing, just curious how do you get the 500ms clock rate by saying the short wave is 0.5ms and long wave is 1ms, i dont get it, can you explain it more how do you get that number?
Hi, very Nice project Mr. Spiess, I have two CC1101 modules and I do not want to decode the signal and just use these to receive the signal and transmit it to my device which is a bit far away. these modules will act as a hub to transfer signal longer range. How I can do it? Thnx
How about the FCC ID if it is available in the United States it must have FCC ID and has a test report and includes Frequency. I have never heard of a garage opener using that frequency here in the US though.
Excellent informative video and I have a question. I took a 20 year old remote control key fob that broadcasts on approximately 315 mHz and recorded the data stream using an SDR radio and displayed it using the Audacity program as you have done in the video. I recorded both the "close door" and "open door" signals in the AM mode because this was the only mode that gave me a clean data stream. Both data streams seem to have the same duty cycle. The only difference is that each time they are broadcast, they appear on a slightly different carrier frequency with the "close door" carrier signal always being higher than the "open door" signal. My question is since there seems to be no difference in the duty cycle between the two signals, do you think that they are using the frequency difference to differentiate between the two signals? Why do you think the signals change frequency every time the signal is broadcast? Is this part of the design or is it the result of a faulty oscillator?
Frequency modulation usually uses only one burst and changes the carrier frequency. Maybe you watch my newer video about 433MHz hacking with SDR. AFAIK you can use the software used there also for other frequencies.
Andreas Spiess ,dear sir I look forward to watching more of your vids ,I recently bought a Plutosdr however iam not at the level you are and unable to make it work on GNU radio however with the help of your tutorials I’m sure to crack it ! 👍🏻😊 🇸🇪
I might be doing something wrong, but I am not able to detect anything ralated to my Opener. Using SDR# I am able to listen to radio so it works for sure. But I don't know how to find frequency of my Opener. Looking at IF spectrum I am not able to find it. In main screen I can see only narrow frequency range and I have no idea how to find the one I need
While on Garage door stuff, does anyone know a hack for using the safety sensors to trip a relay? I'd like to use a pair for turning on a warning when a vehicle enters my driveway.
If you can hack it you can build another receiver. But if it is a modern design it probably uses a rolling code (not easy to hack) and you would have to connect to its receiver outputs.
Awesome video very well put together man, my only issue is riding around with a constant transmitted, meet personally I probably would have hooked it up to my last turning signal if I had to turn left to get into my street on a norm then I would go ahead and program the power to that you left turn signal for infants or to your horn neighbors might not like that so turning signal might be better. The reason I say this cuz there's enough radio traffic out there already, unnecessary traffic is just that unnecessary
Great work done ;-) Do you have a guess, why you had to adjust the frequency? Deviding the frequency of the used quartz should give an exact frequency, shouldn't it?
The chip I used can produce all frequencies up to more than 40 MHz. So, I had to tell it, which frequency I want. But it is quartz based and you program the output frequency by setting the division factor
hi Andreas, What did you use for an antenna, because in my experience at a relatively low frequency like 40Mhz this id the most difficult and indeed the most important thing to condense to a small size, and 'ordinary' ferrite is very unhelpful here in a transmitting antenna.
I use a wire under the saddle. But because the motor cycle is of metal, the reach is not big. I want to try once a ferrite antenna, and maybe I will add a transistor and 12 volts to increase output power.
Aliexpress sellers are claiming to sell remotes that copy rolling code remotes. Is that possible without having the same programmed chip inside as original
I watched your recent video #209 where you performed a similar concept with a Raspberry Pi instead of an Arduino. Do you think this is possible to implement for this use case? Or is the Pi too slow to output a signal as fast as that. Also, could I use Universal Radio Hacker with in Phase mode or Freq. Shift mode to replace the audacity process?
@@AndreasSpiess I was under the impression that data was passed to the radio chip, and that was tuned into specifically 40 mhz. I haven't looked much into it, so I apologize for wasting your time with my silly logic.
Nice Video! Very instructive. I have a question, if the SDR Sharp software can capture a wav file, Is it possible to send the same wav file back in the right frequency to open the door?
Andreas Spiess Seytonic has made a tutorial with a Raspberry Pi Zero and a piece of copper wire to send wav files. Let's assume that I could Zend the wav file at the same frequency as the original remote. Could the wav file open the garage door ?
Any of you guys know if its possible to track the signal from a gate's remote control? My gate (its a couple of feet from car) opens by itself when im working on my car, i suspect someone is opening it on purpose when im around. Is there any way i can track where the signal or which direction the signal is coming from? I need to find the bastard thats doing it.
Hello Andreas, thanks for sharing this precious hack. I'm trying the same, with a 30.875Mhz digital signal. But with a few knowledge of signal theory. You seem not to use an antenna or amplifier, is the ad9850 sufficient to have a earible signal ? I have a very weak signal as I roll away from the sdr antenna. I tried with my garage as you did but I faild miserably :')
+bobz The AD9850 has a 5volt signal. If you connect a few 10 cm of cable it should be capable to bridge a few meters. Ideal would be lambda/4 which is about 2.5 m ;-)
Hello Andreas, do you mean plug a quarter wave antenna with, on sine-wave output, the vertical radiator, and on the GND, the ground plane ? Should I use some sort of SMA connector, plugged on sine-wave output of the AD9850 and on the ground ? Thanks
Hello Andreas, gruezi from Rapperswil ;-) I would like to do the same project, as we have the same Garage door system. Unfortunately I can only find modules up to 40MHz. (AD9850 DDS Signal Generator Module 0-40MHz) Do you have an actual link? thx a lot and thank you for your great work on your channel!! Christian
I saw that, I'm just confused, cause in the description of the board is written: "After the 20-30MHz frequency harmonics increases, the waveform will be less and less clean" Thx, I will give it a try :)
Hi Andreas, this is an amazing video. I've been waiting to do it for a long time, but only recently got my SDR dongle. I have an E.T. Blue 2 button dual code remote and although advertised to operate on 433.92, it actually works at around 433.87. However, I did not see two different modulated frequencies, only one strong in the middle, and then a few going outwards, and when I recorded and viewed in Audacity, there was no defined binary, only what looked like a sound wave. I'm not sure if it has something to do with security, or if it works differently, but most probably I'm doing something wrong. I would greatly appreciate it if you, or anyone reading this could help me out. Cheers 👍
Maybe you watch my video about the weather station. There I show better tools. Your device most probably uses OOK. Maybe you watch my two „wireless“ videos if you are interested in how it works.
@@AndreasSpiess Isn't it a bit too loud? I mean this thing doesn't consume that much but keeping it constantly turned on result in such a great waste of power. You could use the geo-localization on your phone (or in your device if you want) so that any time you reach your home it detects that specific area and then eventually it sends the ok to the transmitter.
Hi everyone, I would like to show the code on an LCD screen or on the "serial monitor" of the data that is received in an RF module, has anyone done something similar? Either with an ARDUINO or with a PIC Thanks in advance.
Nice project . However , I think you have to convert to a more secure remote control ! Your neighborhood burglar is now able to open your garage door !
+Christos Moutevelis I know. This is not my Garage, it is part of the community. But fortunately, in the last 15 years nothing was stolen. Maybe an advantage of the Swiss Accent ;-)
Wow, hast Dir ja echt viel Arbeit damit gemacht.
Hab hier 3 verschiedene Dosen Sets.
Andreas Spiess Thanks. Yeah I got the inspiration from the same video. I have a Logitech wireless keyboard. So do you have any hints on analyzing SPI signal. I saw couple of SPI/I2C logic analyzers, I am not sure whether the correct one's to decode the SPI NRF signal. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks once again.
+Venkatesh E Saleae sells great small usb logic analyzers. The software runs on you PC and can decode all kind of protocols including SPI and I2C. There are many copied versions on aliexpress or ebay. But, of course, the use of the software with these devices is illegal, but working.
WOW, what a great idea, can I hack my building gate the same way if I don't have a remote control? I just call a number from my phone to open the gate.
wouldn't it be easier if you connected your remote to your bike's battery and shorted the button? or extended the remote button to the bike handle and stuck the remote on the bike permanently? or even easier, glue the remote to the bottom of the bike seat so you always know where it is? in any case just use the existing remote. cheaper, faster and easier.
+Ady Price You are right, it could be possible to do hat. There were a few reasons to do my way: We have only one remote and now, I can leave this one in our car. And I hope, I will be able to get it smaller than the original one. Because of humidity issues on a bike, I want also to be able to cover it completely with hot glue. I have to admit, I had a third reason: I wanted to play around with the new technology of SDR radio and DDS and found, this is a good example to do that. I am just an engineer ;-)
+Andreas Spiess I thought you maybe wanted to play around. makes sense. I was just curious maybe I was missing some technical difficulties (newbie electronics hobbyist here) besides humidity that would make it not feasible but you already answered that. you inspired me to do something with my garage remote too. since I sometimes have to look for it in my car if I take some sharp turns, and it has a really weak signal in the winter.
Well done. On a different subject, why is the average IQ in the US only 98 (supposed to be 100, of course) whereas the average IQ of Switzerland is 101? My theory is our concentration on sports-instead of academics. Do you have an opinion?
From the US side, news is 'for profit' so goes by whats entertaining, not whats necessarily true or what should be reported, all while putting on the face that they are legitimate news. It becomes a business rather than a service. Paired with the fact that people are stupid. Its a self feeding system becausenews gets very involved in politics, and all politics is, is not debating facts, but debating the illogical "social credibility/status" of the other, like if you watch a ben shapiro video on how to argue with liberals, a quote is "you arent talking to the liberal, youre talkif to the peoplewatching you talk to the liberal", because the audience has more voting power. well the news plays a big role in this. doing smear campaigns, arguing retarded logic on national television, and people eating it up nation wide like oh its on the news, its official, this is how we should think/act. Also the sjw movement is taking a hit at youth iq levels. Everyones got a major in art, dyed armpit hair, shaved heads, pronoun correction, and demands the world change around them, even calls their student debt (which they went out of their way and signed up for) slavery or patriarchy, and push for communism wearinf anonymous masks in the slums of downtown on street corners. plus we got mexico exporting narcotics in a nationwide distribution network causing the opioid epidemic, which kills junkies, creates junkies, and turns junkies into thieves (nationwide), and spreads crug crime/violence nationwide. someone i went to high school with got curb stomped and shot in the back of the head by drug dealers that moved to the area (which hasnt had a murder in years), too much to say. Also food stamps and government aid, while legit uses are there (i grew up on it), i know multiple abusers and no other legitimate users. people who have no job no drivers license multiple kids they drink and do meth during pregnancywirh to qualify for special government aid the rest of their life to deal with parenting and bills, fridges stocked full of junk food, trying to gain weight to pay for government funded liposuction, selling extra food stamps (as i go work an 80 hor a week job buying a loaf of bread for a meal), having their kids pn their worst possible behaviors intentionally when they go to get reevalutated for autism, dont get me started lol. short answer is liberals, theyre too idealistic and dont know how reality works. we need a president like trump, except stronger willed, and less retarded. invade mexico, destroy drug manufacturing plants at the core (currently outside us jurusdiction, yet, very much the us's issue), invade north korea, snipe leadership free the country assuming its all true and its basically a slave country, stop sendig planeloads of billions in cash to terrorists while disarming police and citizens in the usa (obama), idk im getting myself started lol. Vote republican, beenie sanders wants to legalize pot but thatll just shoot prices up when taxes get involved, he wants to ban guns which wont happen and will be a struggle getting nowhere wasting americas time, his economic plan just lacks logic, hes a socialist like the nazis, etc. Only good presidential option was Gary Johnson, who was an idiot, but with good intentions, which can be fixed with advisors. trump was next best in the shit show.
I am working on decoding my fixed code garage door opener code. I get 41 bits of binary that looks like 10011011100110111001101110111001100110001 when decode in inspectrum. This cant be correct because the end part of the code does not repeat. There are 9 dip switches that are the following code - 101010110. I figure the 1001 = 1 and the 1011 =0 but that doesnt complete the code correctly towards the end. Any thoughts? A copy of the transmitted code can be found at github.com/jfender1/garagedooropener. Let me know if you see something I did wrong.
@@AndreasSpiess I can copy the code and replay it no problem. I have a hackrf one and a yardstick one. I want to understand how it works, what the code is and how it translates to the dip switches in the remote

Good lecture. I need to know how to do this for a project I'm working on but it seems that I will need to go to school first. uC coding for one. If I have to build a receiver and transmitter, maybe it will be easier though.
That is too much work. Also to find the frequency and code you could just buy or rent a handheld frequency Counter. I would try to purchase an extra remote.
Hello sir, thank u for the awesome video, I have a question, am trying to hack Somfy motor remote to open and and close the curtains via an esp8266, but the remote is using a "rolling code", my question is, will this method in the video work in such scenario?? By the way, the remote is using 433.42 frequency.
I do not understand a lot about these remote codes. This video was intended to show the different technologies, Its primary goal was not the "hacking". For 433MHz, you get many self learning remotes. Maybe this is for you.
Cool, but hard. went a simple way. bought an extra remote. solder a 2x0,25mm cable to the push contacts and added 3 push buttons on a side pannel. I know control main access + 2 garage door inside for less than 30euro in 20min. It runs on the remote control battery. just need to be replaced every few years.
+Derpy Herpy No, unfortunately I do not own a batmobile. This is only the garage for my Rolls Royces, Ferraris and all my other cars and motor cycles ;-)
And what about the RTL-SDR dongle? I made quite a few videos about this topic. Very interesting! But under the saddle of my Harley, a Pi would not be the right choice ;-)
Andreas Spiess You’re absolutely correct. You need the dongle to record. Once you recorded every button, replay is done only with the Pi. And a chip is better than having a Pi in your motorcycle. The only good thing is you can skip te demodulation part, which is the most difficult part.

If I remember right they are compatible. If I remember right, you have to use different constants. You find examples with google.
Andreas Spiess Ok thx anyway i finaly bought the AD9850 because i found a seller in Aliexpress(www.aliexpress.com/item/AD9850-DDS-Signal-Generator-Module-Test-Equipment-Sine-Square-Wave-0-40MHz-TE439/32699349794.html?spm=2114.30010308.3.2.ASHmJj&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_7,searchweb201602_4_10057_10056_10055_10037_10049_10059_10032_10058_10017_405_404_10060_10061_10062_412,searchweb201603_6&btsid=d684f487-8003-4179-9d5c-fafbbe1da399) who ship from Europe(for me it's from France) since a long time a want to test that for know if it's true or fake and compare with the classic post office ship time
Please help. I'm following your video but I'm stuck at finding the part to repeat the 390MHz FM signal from my garage remote. Can you please recommend a chip?
Mine is on 40 MHz, not on 400MHz
Great video! I am going to try this out! I find your videos always very useful and you have a pleasant way of presenting them! On another note, just out of curiosity, is it common in Switzerland to remove your license plate after you park your car? Or is that only if you own a black car? @0:55 and @11:33.
No, this is not the normal case. But in this big garage, some businesses store their cars before they sell them.
is there any antenna to increase the signal of AD9850 ? I would like to open garage door from 200 meters
200m is a lot. And for sure highly illegal. I think, you would need an amplifier for that.
Damn! This guy would contend with "Carlson"s Lab" Spooky smart ..
We do very different things. I admire his knowledge!
You are right.
Is it legal to keep the transmitter on all the time? I understand it is low power but it seems to me you do create QRM to save adding a... button.
It is not legal at all to build this transmitter ;-)
that Alfa 75 though
nice sharing, just curious how do you get the 500ms clock rate by saying the short wave is 0.5ms and long wave is 1ms, i dont get it, can you explain it more how do you get that number?
Frankly, I do no more remember. Maybe I made a mistake. But it works ;-)
Wow, that was really good.
:-)
Hi, very Nice project Mr. Spiess, I have two CC1101 modules and I do not want to decode the signal and just use these to receive the signal and transmit it to my device which is a bit far away. these modules will act as a hub to transfer signal longer range. How I can do it? Thnx
I do not know the CC1101, so I cannot help you.
Wouldn't this fail to work on most lifts since they use a rolling code?
I think, this only worked for my device. With this video, I wanted to show how you can use our tools to detect "secrets"
After around 2005 they started using the rolling codes
Cool! Genau das wo ich bruuch. 👍🏼😉
Nice motorcycle, man! ))

Hi Andreas , i have a garage gate i want to open without having the remote control , which machine you recommend to use ?
I do not know how your door works :-(

How about the FCC ID if it is available in the United States it must have FCC ID and has a test report and includes Frequency. I have never heard of a garage opener using that frequency here in the US though.
Of course you are right.
Sir this is a amazing vid and very helpful I’m my learning of sdr radio keep the hard work up 😊👍🏻
There is another SDR video. And a few others will (hopefully) follow...
Maybe you find the information in the manual or the internet. Otherwise it is not easy to find out.
Use a Dolphin Zero. The SPR# method works, but it's antiquated.
40 mhz only in switzerland ?? Not in Canada ? I think then are 433 mhz here in Canada ?? Thanks.
Also here, we have many 433 MHz devices. But mine has only 40MHz
Very very informative video thank u
I want to know that where u got the
Microsecond option in audiocity I cannot go below milisecond?
I used the normal Audacity and did not change anything.
Very cool insights, thanks for making and sharing this video :)
You are welcome!
While on Garage door stuff, does anyone know a hack for using the safety sensors to trip a relay? I'd like to use a pair for turning on a warning when a vehicle enters my driveway.
I do not understand your setup :-(
Andreas, any thoughts on how to use the homelink buttons in a car to control other things? For instance, exterior lights
If you can hack it you can build another receiver. But if it is a modern design it probably uses a rolling code (not easy to hack) and you would have to connect to its receiver outputs.
@@AndreasSpiess realized I could just buy a wireless relay and have homelink learn from the remote that comes with the relay
Fair enough. The reach of this transmitter is only about 2 meters... Lots of metal around it on a Harley ;-)
Great work done ;-)
Do you have a guess, why you had to adjust the frequency? Deviding the frequency of the used quartz should give an exact frequency, shouldn't it?
The chip I used can produce all frequencies up to more than 40 MHz. So, I had to tell it, which frequency I want. But it is quartz based and you program the output frequency by setting the division factor
the port manipulation is gone. did you save that website?
I do not understand your comment/question
The link is missing the full url ;-)
www.arduino.cc/en/Reference/PortManipulation
hi Andreas,
What did you use for an antenna, because in my experience at a relatively low frequency like 40Mhz this id the most difficult and indeed the most important thing to condense to a small size, and 'ordinary' ferrite is very unhelpful here in a transmitting antenna.
I never looked into this matter because mine was simple.
Is there a similar device to the AD9850 but with 800-900 MHz? Thanks!
There are many frequency generator ICs around. So you have to search. Just an example: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/mPfdrMJe
A useful software for this is the "Universal Radio Hacker"
You are right. I used it in newer projects
It is not only about speed, you also need to create the exact frequency on 40 MHz. I do not think you can do that with a "barefoot" Pi
@@AndreasSpiess I was under the impression that data was passed to the radio chip, and that was tuned into specifically 40 mhz. I haven't looked much into it, so I apologize for wasting your time with my silly logic.
No problem if you use a radio chip. I thought you only wanted to use a pin of the Pi.
Do you have garage rf rolling code ?
No, fortunately not.
Nice Video! Very instructive. I have a question, if the SDR Sharp software can capture a wav file, Is it possible to send the same wav file back in the right frequency to open the door?
I do not know of such a possibility. AFAIK the SDR devices are only receivers
Not an easy task for short signals.
Andreas Spiess thanks a lot I will try
Hello Andreas,
do you mean plug a quarter wave antenna with, on sine-wave output, the vertical radiator, and on the GND, the ground plane ?
Should I use some sort of SMA connector, plugged on sine-wave output of the AD9850 and on the ground ?
Thanks
Self answer : I put a lambda/2 just on the sine output and it works well for my need :)
Hello Andreas, gruezi from Rapperswil ;-)
I would like to do the same project, as we have the same Garage door system.
Unfortunately I can only find modules up to 40MHz. (AD9850 DDS Signal Generator Module 0-40MHz)
Do you have an actual link?
thx a lot and thank you for your great work on your channel!!
Christian
According to the datasheet the AD9850 goes up to 62.5 MHz
I saw that, I'm just confused, cause in the description of the board is written:
"After the 20-30MHz frequency harmonics increases, the waveform will be less and less clean"
Thx, I will give it a try :)
Who cares about harmonics in this application. It hardly opens the door at the base frequency (at least below the Harley saddle)
Sir how can I get its Schematic diagram and other details?
This is an old video. But you should get a lot of information if you follow the links in the comment and also in the .ino file.
Andreas Spiess That video is perfect, thank you very much!
Which chip did you use to retransmit this frequency? The AD9850 doesn't support this high frequency
Super cool and interesting. But, why not just modify the remote you already have to constantly send the signal? I am trying to do something similar.
I wanted to keep my remote for the car.
Great work! But how does the device know when to send the signal to reach the garage door?
It sends continuous when the motor is on.
My Harley is probably louder and consumes much more current ;-)
@@AndreasSpiess hahajahaj fair point :)

Hi everyone,
I would like to show the code on an LCD screen or on the "serial monitor" of the data that is received in an RF module, has anyone done something similar?
Either with an ARDUINO or with a PIC

Very cool project!
+321ooo123 Thanks!
My dog has a shock collar that I lost the transmitter. They want $185 for the replacement. Can this price be beaten by hacking???
It probably could. But you cannot hack what you lost. You need an original transmitter.
Wouldn’t work for more modern RF garage door openers with rolling code though
You are right.
This is really good!

Wow, hast Dir ja echt viel Arbeit damit gemacht.
Hab hier 3 verschiedene Dosen Sets.
Awesome work!!!!. Sir, have you tried hacking a wireless keyboards with NRF24L chip on it ?
+Venkatesh E No, but I saw a video of a guy who is specialized more in hacking than me: th-cam.com/video/WqkmGG0biXc/w-d-xo.html
Andreas Spiess thank you
That's 7 years ago?
Today we use Flipper Zero for that!
Its all built in there (SubGHz)
Probably a bit more expensive ;-) But an interesting product.
Very cool ! thank u for sharing this video !
:-)
WOW, what a great idea, can I hack my building gate the same way if I don't have a remote control? I just call a number from my phone to open the gate.
I do not think so.
wouldn't it be easier if you connected your remote to your bike's battery and shorted the button? or extended the remote button to the bike handle and stuck the remote on the bike permanently? or even easier, glue the remote to the bottom of the bike seat so you always know where it is? in any case just use the existing remote. cheaper, faster and easier.
+Ady Price Good! I hope, you enjoy it as I did when the door opened the first time with the clone...
Well done.

I would just focus on copy what the transmitter transmits. You do not need to understand the content.

Andreas Spiess thank u, and by "hacking" i meant cloning, I guess I will have to do more research.
I understand. It was the same for me. I just wanted another (smaller) device
Good idea. The remotes for our garage are not easy to get.
Hi ! It means your garage opener is not a rolling code technology. You broadcast the secret sequence everywhere you ride. It s scaring and not secure.
You are right.
What the f*ck is that garage are you some sort of a batman or something?
+Derpy Herpy No, unfortunately I do not own a batmobile. This is only the garage for my Rolls Royces, Ferraris and all my other cars and motor cycles ;-)
+Andreas Spiess This is just a joke. The garage is part of our area and is used by about 100 houses. Here in Switzerland we have very limited space.
Can I please be as smart as you?

I got this working with just a Raspberry Pi - github.com/defcon24bit/record-and-replay-RF-remote
The only good thing is you can skip te demodulation part, which is the most difficult part.
or can it unlock by ordinary way car alarms? can you give instructions for sdr sharp?
+alex shmidt there are Tutorials for SDR around
Andreas Spiess Andreas, it's brute force attack? can hackrf do the same?
No, the signal is not encrypted. And probably yes. I never used hackRF
Thanks for the info.
