I’m happy to see some proper construction stuff back. They were the best part of City in my opinion.
100%
The 2009 construction range is my joint favourite along with the farm sets from that year
Yeah this stuff is great
That excavator is absolute perfection. The colors, features, design, probably one of the most solid City sets in a very long time.
I am more than surprised that LEGO is going with a more filled-in look for their sets than just the hollow look they have been going towards for the past decade and a half. These sets look like real vehicles. Actually more like MOCs in how complete and detailed they are. I'll probably pick these up
20:10 another Bionicle reference sticker to add to my collection.
Oboeshoes in a Jang comment section is peak enjoying peak
Holy moly City is killing it. I'm loving the focus on older kids. Makes for much more realistic and detailed sets. Very appealing.
The excavator and mobile crane look quite realistic for toys marketed at children. Ecstatic to see a harbor, always a cause for celebration and I love the inclusion of an overhead crane.
There goes my LEGO budget for the year...
5:40 Johnny Thunder Battle Pack YES!
EXO-FORCE SPOTTED!!
EXO
FORCE
SPOTTED!!!!
DUDE I KNOW
IM NOT PANICKING, YOU'RE PANICKING
EXO FORCE IS BACK!?!?
Dude that excavator is crazy
honestly, lego is killing it with sets this year and they’re not even crazy overpriced. these look really good
I agree with you 100% on the cargo harbor. It seems like the designers focused too much on pedestrian stuff rather than the actual cargo aspect of it. What I think they should have done was removed the building and bench/information pier, add a few play features to it, and had that as its own separate set. Then add onto the dock a lot more with a truck, an area for the shipping containers, and maybe even a forklift. They could have also made the two sets connectable with the brick that allows a pin to be attached.
I think the harbor set will complement nicely with the 60336 Freight Train from 2022. It has a flatcar with the same size of container and a red reach stacker for loading and unloading. The reach stacker could offload the containers from the train, stacking them beneath this red crane. The crane would then transfer the containers to the ship.
Tandem rotors spin the opposite direction of each other to cancel the torque, so your hunch is right
That's DEFINITELY not a Johnny Thunder reference. TOTALLY not what they were going for
That Exo Force Stealth Hunter is unlocking some childhood memories. Was not expecting to see that today.
I can't believe they made a roller coaster set targeted toward me specifically
with all these new animals they're coming out with, Lego should do a whole dedicated zoo section for Lego City
A Zoo sub theme for City would be incredible!
Lego Harambe and the glorious return of giant construction site vehicles! What a treat, what a year !
That crane and excavator are absolutely amazing
The crane and excavator look like they are modeled after Liebherr.
When I add my power functions battery pack to the crane it'll have enough counter balance lol
The mobile crane and excavator are exactly the kind of sets I want to see from the City theme. 🤩
The box art on this wave is a massive step up from some of the recent stuff they've put out. Shame digital storefronts don't show it as the primary image, it's really good stuff.
Best City wave in a long time. Feels like the old days again from the early to mid 2000s. The new Construction sets are incredible!
Ape together strong.
Lego ape together, stronger.
Best City wave in quite a while imo
How is no one talking about the modern house!? That set looks incredible! Creative 3 in 1 houses are back!
I’m diggin these city sets especially the Crane and Excavator. The construction sets are straight HEATORS!
some of these will go down in Lego history as Iconic city sets, very good to perfect execution on some of these. the detail and parts used is so good!
I will definitely be purchasing the construction crane as well as the excavator (I hope they continue with the construction set trend)
Me too, we are WAY overdue for a 5+ cement mixer.
I love when you get expressions like that one at 20:57. Adds so much play value with the kid.
Love the inclusion of the legally distinct Johnny Thunduhhh I mean, uh, "Jake Lightning" in the jungle sets.
I’m glad they finally kept the same design for 2 different sub themes! The colors match with the ones of the arctic/ocean theme of last summer
“Waste your time”? Never once have you wasted our time. You are a true professional and I always look forward to your insight on lego.
20:40 My favorite minifigure series character! Represented alongside Bionicle, Exoforce, and Ultra Agents?! This set doesn't know how to disappoint!
LOVING all of these new set reveal videos Jang! Thanks so much for sharing! ❤❤
Wow, city has knocked it out of the park this round. The crane, excavator, bus, modern home, and harbour are all exceptional builds. Great to see some actual 'city' sets as well, not just the usual sub themes.
Wow that crane is almost studless
I wasn't expecting Lego city to have my favourite summer wave out of all the themes but there are some really strong sets here
That crane is great. All these vehicles builds look so clean and complete. It’s difficult to justify getting City when I buy a lot of Ninjago and some Star Wars and Marvel. But I really like those explorer sets.
20:34 Wow! Ultra Agents! One of my favorite themes of all time! Definitely picking up this sticker sheet at some point!
The blue boat in the cargo container is a reference to 6508: Wave Racer
City construction used to be my favorite as a kid. Might have to pick some of these up because they just look so clean
The CH-47 'Chinook' definitely counter-rotates and has no vertical rotor.
This is one of my personal favourite city wave in recent time the price on some of these a bit steep but im most likely going to get them anyway
I think the black curved part at the back of the excavator is the Land Rover Defender mudguard, recoloured in black, very nice
That rollercoaster set looks awesome!
That crane is beautiful! Definitely going to pick it up!
The crane set looks really nice.
It would go well with many other construction sets.
It's part of a long term collection to really build up a construction site play set and diorama.
Wow! This wave is insane! My son will love the excavator!
Think the cargo ship would make an excellent fishing vessel
Love that excavator. The part you couldn’t identify looks like the wheel arch from the large classic Defender but in black
I feel like many LEGO fans (myself included) are guilty of too quickly moving towards criticism and negativity upon seeing new sets, but not here. These slap. These look really good. Only minor complaint is some of the pricing.
Excavator is a no brainer for me. Crane a maybe if Target discounts it a bit.
Those city constructions builds looks really good for just play sets. Honestly kudos to the designers.
I'm so glad they're bringing a construction theme back to LEGO...a construction toy!
I love that it seems Lego is getting back into the construction theme. I always thought they missed a golden opportunity when the Lego Movie came out with the main character, Emmet, being a construction worker. I'm all about cranes...I made a minifig scale Liebheer crane 4 years ago...and I work in bridge construction, so this is a WIN for Lego.
Years ago I bought the original crane (the one like this one) for my son and I. My son had fun playing with it. I now include it with my Christmas setup adding signs or road pieces, depending on what I build for that year.
Construction sets are stunning 🤯🤯🔥🔥
That mech rollercoaster set looks really cool!! and Exo Force AND ANOTHER Bionicle reference!!!!! And an Ultra Agents and Space Police references too??
Dual Blade helicopters do counter-rotate. That's how they can fly without a tail.
One of my favorite sets that I craved for months as a kid, and was ecstatic to get back then, was the Legoland Town Construction Mobile Crane #6361, with 152 pieces, from 1986. Now LEGO has come up with one with >1100 pieces near $100. It would have driven me insane! Not that my parents would ever been able to afford such a thing at the time...
2:11 I think those bright light yellow (?) fruit are the peach piece that came out this year or last in bright pink. They’re in some lunar new year and maybe Monkie Kid sets.
Those construction sets look soo good, great size and working moving parts. The harbour gives nice small Caribbean island feels with the colonial looking building next to it. I am always a sucker for a 3 in 1 house build as well.
Love the arcade roller coaster! That looks sick!
I really want the Crane, Excavator and Bus. I'm really glad they are bringing back Construction sets
God this is the best wave of city we’ve had in so long. 100% also an exo force inspired mech. Reminds me of 2010 city that was top tier Lego
Thanks for the updates, JANG. I've missed these over the past week, but have now power watched them to catch up
i am really impressed that they went through the hassle of printing the crocogator teeth. We went from chunky gators a little more than a decade ago to these with printed teeth
I like all of these. It makes me feel like this is how my imagination saw the 80’s and 90’s sets. I feel like something special about LEGO is back.
Finally some realistic design and details
I like how the Dino is a bigger version of the 12 dollar one we had for the past few years. Love that set and I may get this one.
Love the Exo-force reference Lego made. It's definitely the white mech from back then but smaller
Loved all your coverage of these city sets Jang! So on point with the crane and excavator - they are knock outs! The harbour sadly doesn't quite flow together liked you pointed out. Where's the cargo truck and it should be all industrial. Oh well some easy mods to fix. Thank you for being objective about the price of the car transporter. No denying it's in the greed pricing territory and is not defensible. I love the concept though and just wish it received the full Speed Champion treatment.
The black curved piece on top of the engine bay on the excavator looks like the fender piece from the icons land rover defender
The best part of those Jungle sets is they can all connect together
I loved almost all the sets just as much as your video. Great job!
Great preview as always, Jang. Also with Johnny being the sole minifigure 5:30, it pretty much makes this an official Adventurers set. 😉
The blueprints included in the crane set match the rollercoaster and mech! That’s neat
I wish the harbour set would be split into two separate sets. The seaport could do with a few railway track pieces and one or two flatbed cars for loading the containers onto, while the tourist-oriented harbour could be made into a recently redeveloped/gentrified docklands area, or just be kept as is. I also really love the looks and features of the crane and excavator.
Wow finally! I have been wanting a proper non-technic tracked excavator from them. Looks excellent. And wow! The exo-force reference. That apartment looks very classy.
The crane and excavator both look really good! Looking forward to the reviews!
Great review, thanks Jang!!
The new city sets are great! The excavator looks really nice! I also really like the ATV red panda set although, having more than one red panda would be better.
I believe for the cargo ship set they could have made two sets, one focused on cargo, more industrial and another on a waterfront set with mixed retail and housing. The set they have just looks like they tried to take both ideas and put them together.
On the roller-coaster the "Game in progress" is Tahu vs a Gahlok... I'm sold!
Thanks Jang, one more very interesting reveals video in the books.
Mind that your reviews are always needed, even for the more simple "what you see is what you get" sets.
Cheers, keep up the good work !
That Cargo ship engine is so nice wow
Really fun to watch you go through these :)
The printed tile with the giant crane has the robo mech roller coaster... nice touch. I guess for play you can use the construction stuff to build the roller coaster on the outskirts of a city
The Modern House set looks very nice.
It's nice to see sets like this to build out a suburban area.
I'm not into city sets but those construction vehicles look amazing!! I might have to get those. Awesome job!
Not sure if you spotted it, but the mini-build jungle pieces have various connections and look like they'll form a big piece of terrain if you have two or more of the kits. That crane is the stuff of my childhood-dreams!
To answer you question about tandem rotor helicopters:
Yes, in real life, the rotors counter-spin so the torques they generate will cancel each other out. You can clearly see it on the Chinook when it flies.
I don't know how the rotors on the helicopter set will spin, though.
A lot to be excited about here
lego is COOKING this summer 😭🙏 and the prices aren't that atrocious, WE ARE SO BACKKK
Really impressive! Lots to see and to build! I love that roller coaster set! And the car transporter as well, among others!
The black piece in the excavator is a recolor from the big Defender, I believe. Looks absolutely stunning, I dont love construction, but it looks just so perfect.
I'm a fan of the harbor combination, seems whimsical!
These sets are amazing!!!! Love the Exo-Force mech and the construction stuff!
Few interesting things-
Each Explorer set has own special map print.
The team is the same team that was in Arctic previously!
Great thoughts and video as always. Thank you
LEGO IS BACK! These sets look so good
These sets looks amazing great preview jang 👍
