They say “just put the kid up for adoption” like it’s so easy. 100k+ foster kids every year waiting to get adopted but are less favorable than a fresh baby with no family ties. On top of adoptions are not all “free” adoptee parents in agencies are vetted out and then pay and sign papers etc. Foster homes are scarce and research shows adoption agency’s are more favorable.

@@connievino4226 but you are so very wrong. A single cell at conception is ‘not’ a child, it’s a human cell - then it becomes a zygote - then it becomes an embryo - then it becomes a fetus - then, after 9 months, it becomes a fully formed human. Calling a clump of cells a ‘child’ is a falsehood; and one that helps infiltrates the misinformation, lies, and propaganda that the pro-forced-birth movement is pushing.
Those who are forcing people to carry a pregnancy and birth unwanted children are selfish. They obviously don’t care about the unwanted baby once born; and they certainly don’t care about those being forced to carry a pregnancy.
Furthermore, calling women and their doctors killers for ending a ‘pregnancy’ is so beyond ignorant it’s not even laughable - it’s sick.
Either one will educate themselves or not. But if they refuse to educate themselves, they have very little room to voice their frustrations as they won’t be heard.
Those who support the overturning of RvW, and do ‘nothing’ to help better the broken system are ‘not’ pro-life - but instead, are responsible for supporting the extreme amount of unwanted children suffering; and possibly crippling our overwhelmed foster system.

It's easy enough to say, "In an ideal society, no woman would seek an abortion, or ever need one." But I don't see anti-choice activists pushing to improve society, to ensure that all women and children have access to resources and opportunities - no, they're just ensuring that more women and children will struggle to survive in a society that only cares about profit, not people.

"I believe women should have the choice of what to do to their body. " by your "logic" child abuse needs to be legal because that's just a woman doing something with her body (hands). By your "logic" child abandonment/endangerment needs to be legal because that's just a woman doing something with her body (e.g. taking it to the beach while leaving a newborn home alone to die). i.e. Just as child abuse and endangerment are not about someone doing something to their body, neither is abortion.
What's beyond insane is calling killing an unborn child "doing something with my body". It's not - it's doing something (KILLING!) the body of ANOTHER innocent human being. I hope this helps you understand why abortion needs to be illegal.

I understand there is debate on when life begins and when a termination is appropriate, but to take away the whole procedure is crazy. Because ultimately a woman’s right to bodily autonomy should not have to be a debate. It’s not that difficult to understand that pregnancy and childbirth should not be forced upon anyone. Whether or not an embryo has ‘life’ should be secondary to the rights of women who are absolutely alive. Disregarding the pain and risks that come with childbirth, pregnancy alone is a strain physically and mentally. People don’t understand that just yelling adoption at women is not good enough. Especially when the healthcare, foster care system and social welfare in the US is as tragic as it is.
The overturning of Roe is a step back for everyone, but it is especially a setback for the working class, for people living pay check to pay check, for POC women, for black birth givers who experience maternal mortality 2-3 times higher than white birth givers and for those whose pregnancies came from SA. It is a step back from modern medicine. And it is a disgrace.
I understand if you don’t agree with abortion for yourself, but just because it’s not for you, it doesn’t mean it’s not for anyone else either. Because sure, women can be forced to give birth, but once the child goes into the system, the stats of SA, physical abuse, addiction, suicide skyrocket.
And if you say you don’t agree with abortion yourself but would understand if someone else had the procedure due to circumstances, that is pro-choice. Pro-choice is believing in choice, choices women should have.

The objective should be to eliminate abortion not through force but by creating systems and expanding on them that will really help women care for their child on a mental, emotional, physical and financial level so they don't need to turn to abuse.
It means fixing Child Service and Foster care so children who end up in foster care are treated with love and kindness and dignity and respect they deserve. which is not the case at the moment. 38% of children in foster care are abused and neglected. Those just cases we know about or that CPS isn't turning a blind eye to. Even in the cases we're these kids aren't abused or neglected per say they are treated as a meal ticket and often times treated as if they don't belong any where. All of those things take a toll on kids and effects them and will most likely deeply impact them in a negative way. Which can then impact society.
We can change all that and fix it make it better. Pro-lifers and also pro-choicers ignore these issue and these issues will be deeply impacted by anti-abortion laws.

The fact that most women who have abortions go on to have families on their own terms proves anti-abortion laws perpetrate a double-tragedy on women: once when they force a child to be born unwanted or into poverty, and a second time when they deprive the mother of having a family on her own terms.

If you could only get pregnant if you were financially well off the working class would never have kids. Either way, you don't want an abortion don't get one. Don't want a woman you're sleeping with to have one, don't get her pregnant. Better yet keep it in your pants and eliminate the risk. But it's mighty easy to force someone to keep a child you don't have to carry, you don't have to feed, you don't have to take to the doctor, you don't have educate, don't have to protect, don't have to risk your life for simply by going into labor. When that baby gets here you won't give a damn about what it will be born into. I'd actually believe pro life people were really concerned if the concern lasted past the smack the doctor gives the baby after it makes it out the womb. But, you don't. Where's all the uproar and plans for resources to help all these women that'll be forced to bring babies to term they didn't want. What physiological damage could be done with a mother caring for a child she didn't want to have but was forced to keep. I'm sure that'll be a healthy environment. Put them up for adoption you'll say. Yeah that's not a guaranteed solution either. Every child isn't going to get adopted. Some will go to bad homes, some will age out of the system at 18 and be thrown out onto the street because they're now adults. You gonna fake care about them then? Those who receive abortions are more likely to go on and have a *wanted* child later. Under better circumstances.”

It may not fit your world view, but it is NOT the case that all women who have abortions have deep, ongoing pain over it. It's not. And, secondly Did you follow what I explained about birth rates? Contraceptives and sex education are often under attack by the same people who want to ban abortions. And even when they’re easily accessible, they aren’t full proof and can easily fail even with zero human error. Since there’s always a risk to pregnancy from sex of course even with the most durable contraceptives, so what…women only should have sex when they were ready for it to result in a life long commitment? The average # of children per family in the US is what about two children? So We’d have sex about 2 times on average in our entire lifetimes? Should women who want no children be forced into sterility or asexuality by the state? What about the thousands who are coerced into sex if not outright raped? The if you don’t want kids then “close your legs” argument is made by morons or religious theocrats who throw all real world implications out the window and want big government not only in our bed rooms, our doctors offices, our uteruses dictating not only what to do with our bodies and our health but also this completely mythical Gilead la la land where (just women somehow, men are never addressed in this mythical land) should be more responsible and only have sex if they’re willing for it to result in a child.

There's always two sides to every story. The children abused should be a bigger issue. Most of the people on skid row and in prisons are effected from abusive parents. I dont see all these people against abortion opening up their homes to unwanted children. I believe in my body my choice, I was against mandates as well. I have 4 kids who are now adults but I would stand beside any sister who made their decision. I dont believe in late term unless for a medical reason. The reporter did such a great job with trying to neutralize her judgment as she talked to each of the interviewees, including people with whom she disagreed. All of the open-ended questions really allowed even the most conservative people who might have clammed up to really express their position. Even if we disagreed with it - whether it's the woman who worked with Phyllis Schlafly or the 18 year old wanting an abortion at the end - we needed to hear the person explain in their own words. This is one reason I love watching Vice documentaries! They're so good at striving toward balance (even though that's difficult to fully achieve for any news program).
