Wow. It's stunning to witness a person so deeply moved by the reality of Jesus Christ as more than a mythical or historical figure. I had an encounter like that as a 19-year-old atheist. I'm now a Christian and a pastor.

With Catholics there is a saying, and it goes something like this..."Don't think about what you believe, but why you believe it." It represents the Catholic faith well and it is quite beautiful in essence. What Jordan is really touching on here, is that he has faith, but it sounds like he hasn't completely sold himself on dedicating his soul to it. It can cause a tremendous battle within oneself when the holy ghost calls to you and you have not answered it directly.

Dear Jordan, it is terrifying. When I came to that crossroads, presented with the choice, seemingly from God himself, I gave it serious thought. I shut down emotion and thought. Here is what happened: My eyes were shut but above my head, above my thoughts, two planets battled. There was incredible movement and war and a colliding of these two planets. It was as if a separate reality had opened up over me. I tried to block it all out and focus on the earth shattering question before me, Would I choose to follow God and his son Jesus Christ who died to forgive my sins or turn away from Him. I pondered as the planets raged against each other. Two stark realities before me. Life with God or life without. I made an emotionless decision to follow Christ because how could I not? I saw enough reality there to know that I could not go the other way. It was a leap of faith and I said to God, "I follow you, I choose you." The leap is necessary because Faith is necessary. With the incomplete evidence, it is still...all in. Your mind can only go so far. I want to tell you, and I hope you see this message, that I met Christ, right then. The war stopped and Jesus filled me with his Presence. He cleaned my dirty heart. For every believer, what happens is a little different. God meets us in an individual way with the same Gospel. He is real. Trust Him. It is terrifying because your soul hangs in the balance but the terror is a feeling. I testify that Jesus Christ is All that He says He is. He is life and in Him there is no darkness. He is the only way and He is all goodness. All in.

good. faith is the humble submission of one's mind, heart & soul to God's revelation as fully revealed through his only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ. But first one has to exercise belief. Child-like faith is required. Then try to understand it later on through intense study (faith seeking understanding). We need to study regarding our faith so as not to lead to religious superstition. We need both wings, faith and reason, to soar high towards the Divine Mysteries.

Compare Islam and Christianity and tell me what you think. Both these faiths are undoubtedly very similar, and if you're interested, i invite you to read the Quran and compare it's teachings with that of the Bible. If you have any unanswered questions from Christianity, you might find it being answered in the Islam. I'll be awaiting for your response.😀

The thought that Jordan launches in this very emotional analysis of the historical figure of Christ was something that had already occurred to me in so many musings that sometimes affect me. Christ, whether you want to believe in Him or not, already has a millenary - civilizing - impact on the human race that no other purported "mythological being" has ever had. Civilizations are born and die under His premise. It is as an atheist friend once said: "I may have every doubt about His 'nature' (divine or human), but there is no denying His absurd importance in this little civilization that remains to the human race."

Just start reading, my dude. Edward Feser has some good stuff. Look at some of the old Catholic and Orthodox thinkers, not as a modern man trying to understand their times but as someone trying to hear them out. Dive in and read.
Beyond that, start praying. I'd recommend expressing gratitude for the good in your life as a solid starting point.

I’m not a psychologist and I can’t diagnose the root cause of panic attacks. However, I learn to relieve mine by giving up control to the higher calling. Our faith is meant to exist beyond reasoning. When Peterson says he don’t know, that’s because he has achieved the true state of belief. While reasoning helps with understanding the physics and mechanisms of many topics, there remains concepts which beyond to the black box. We can’t extract a human soul but our language speaks of soul. One type of emotion can be triggered by vast numbers of neuro pathways in our brain. But why do emotion even do help to the evolution of human kind? We don’t really know. These are mysteries of human beings. If you start to accept the absurdity (presence of black box) of life, you are close to being one with God. Hope you’ll get astonished by this concept, feel challenged, and achieve the true enlightenment.

    Thank God!
Touching the heart, beautiful, one can gradually learn to understand how intense the infinite Love, mercy, forgiveness, wisdom, beauty, happiness, and bliss can be.
Infinitely so, Eternally so, although this mundane thought-addicted, and sensorially-binded "mind" of "ours" usually mainly just disturbs, resists and hides the entrance to grasp the reality.
The reality, that is thus, through infinite intensity, seemingly terrifying and deadly experience, in the most sweetest of ways.
The mind has been a good tool to bring one thus far, now it is time to let go and set sail, in the eye of the storm.
Please dare to join life as it truly is, fully, sincerely, with every fiber of one's being.
    One Love.

For me, I will read a promise in the Bible and then God will fulfill the promise. No matter how long it takes.
Peterson is referring to pieces of scripture coming true in his life. This is an example in itself of "and the word became flesh" John 1:14
During that synchronicity he felt or became sensitive to the Holy Spirit. And I've felt that too, its terrifying. Being awakened to the spiritual warfare going on everywhere all the time is scary. He doesn't know what would happen if you fully believed it because he caught a glimpse and understands there is a larger scale to it.

The reason Jordan Peterson cries when he speaks about Jesus Christ is because he already has the Holy Spirit in him. It’s a supernatural, unexplainable phenomenon that spiritually convicts sin and connects you with the spirit of Jesus, and thru that connection you feel SO much, SO intensely, the bone deep sorrow He has for the people He gave His life for; for all the suffering in the world and the people that cry out to Him thru all the injustices and devastating losses they experience during their lives. Jesus has so much love for us that it hurts SO deeply when He sees us suffering. Though those suffering in Christ will inevitably inherit the kingdom of Heaven, it still hurts to see His people suffering under the boot of evil and inequity in “this” reality we temporarily have to overcome.
This is just a small sense of how Jesus feels and we, who have the Holy Spirit and compassion for our brethren, share in His sorrows, but also share in the victory of the kingdom of God.
All the praise and glory belong to God. 🙏🏼😇

You will never find absolute proof to anything's existence other than your own mind and even then you won't know what it's for. Eventually everyone must make a leap of faith if they are to move at all.

@@cornbread12987 I agree 100%. Even I as a believer sometimes doubt my faith, and I'm not proud to say it.
The human mind of flesh is very finite in knowledge, as to where putting full faith onto Christ before God is a leap that many will encounter, therefore they'll take no more pride in their limited knowledge and rather leave it all in God's hands, because THAT is what it means to believe.
