Philippines has the best humans on the planet. They have mastered the art of respect and friendliness Philippines has the most generous visa policy of over 3 years, its cheap, amazing beaches, nightlife, low crime, everyone speaks English, this country takes the least amount of time to feel like home when trying to settle abroad, you ease into Filipino way of life.
This is the reason, it always comes down to Thailand vs Philippines comparison. These two countries would be hard to beat as rest of the world goes to hard times.

Two other positives - being able to stay 36 months on a tourist visa. This must be the most generous tourist visa in the world. I think this is because the Philippines are really addicted to foreign income coming into their country from overseas workers, and so foreign tourists are just another source of that. The other is the amount of English. Not only for speaking but seeing it. 99% of the words you see are written in English despite the fact that Filipinos only rarely speak English amongst themselves. You know what kind of shop it is. You know what menu items are. It's a big help.
This is a MASSIVE benefit forsure as the visa situation in most countries can be a bit of a headache

You live in cebu and they have a big religious celebration there in honor of the feast of santo niño or holy child they call sinolog. It's a very big festival you would enjoy. Tourists come all over.

I've found good rotisserie chicken and some good BBQ, but overall prefer food in other countries same thing I was told by friends who have visited before
By long term I mean at least 1 month (subjective word lol)

Why did you leave Thailand so soon?
As a Tourist, you can’t stay in Thailand over 9 months per year unless you; get marriage visa, retirement visa, get a job and work visa, start a business with work visa, or pay 30k for a 5 year elite visa. Even then, there’s still a bunch of small annoying things you need to do to stay each 1-3 months.
The strategy is hopping back and forth between Thailand and Philippines average 6 months in each or 2 months per trip back and forth IF you want to be in Thailand majority of the time you can.
If not, you can just stay in Philippines as the tourist extensions are easier and longer.
Simply, being under retirement age and single without plans to marry then trying to live in Thailand long term is very difficult and expensive.
When you’re old enough to retire, it’s the easiest way OR if you want to get married then that is easy as well.
