This is what Sony needed to with the Ps Vita, high quality port from the 7th generation consoles. I know the biggest draw back was that Vita had 512mb + 128mb ram instead a full unified 1gb of ram, developers were tired of working with so little memory, and it wouldn't have been expensive to do that, they just needed to add a cheaper LCD screen and no touch pad in the back to reduce cost.
ephoenix7 That doesn't matter, as you have to install the discs on both the PS4 and Xbox One's hard drives. The discs are then just used to confirm that you still own the game, and will play the game from the hard drive.

Its the same resolution as the N Sane Trilogy on Switch its the Alchemy Engine and how its ported considered the engine is specifically done for multiplatform development. When the PS4 version of N Sane came out people datamined it and discovered the code was built specifically for multi platform development and was planned from the beginning.
I'm more unimpressed with the 27 second load time on PS4 than I am with the 41 second load time on Switch. I expect that out of Switch, but PS4 should be able to do better. 25 on Xbox One X is also really bad.
Why would you expect better though? I don't think the 5400 rpm hard drives in PS4/Xbox One are that much faster than Switch cartridges or a decent micro SD card for Switch. Hard drives are basically ancient technology at this point.
It's funny because I agree 480p is bad but the 3DS was 240p and I remember that not bothering me at all. I never even thought about the resolution in those days other than obviously knowing it looked worse than a console but figured that was just always a given with a portable. So even a miserable 480p is a two fold increase in performance from the previous portable Nintendo had, so thats something, and Mario Kart 7 was fun.
@@AlexAnteroLammikko Of course I know, but a 240p image on a 240p screen looks sharper than a 480p image on a 720p display. The 480p needs to be upscaled, it loses some of its sharpness.

Mohi Beyki MK 8 is simply the best fun racer ever. It’s ok to prefer other racers but objectively MK8 has everything. Smooth framerate and resolution, amazing gameplay, lots of content and a fun online mode
If with future patches Activision will increase the resolution of the game to 1080p or reduce the antialiasing(that is a bit strong), the game that is already incredibly beautiful, enjoyable and fun will be even more closer to his "big brothers" ps: digital foundry, CTR on Switch is not a port since it was developed togheter the ps4 and xbox one versions at the same time.
You can actually push the portable resolution above 480p with mods if you have a CFW switch. A moderate overclock can actually make 720p undocked obtainable.

To be fair, this looks like a pretty solid port all things considered. I'm far more likely to pick this up on my Switch than on my PS4 Pro, regardless of graphical differences. Now let's hope that Bloodstained gets a patch to bring the Switch version up to this kind of standard.
I have Mario Kart on Switch so I'll be getting this for PS4. It's a massive shame about the frame rates across all platforms, though. Even though I am fortunate enough to own all platforms ie PS4 Pro, XB1X and a gaming PC I find myself enjoying my Switch way more. It's always surprising me with the ports I never thought possible and because of being able to play those ports anywhere the Switch is now my favourite platform. I can't wait to see what Nintendo do with the revised versions as I'll definitely pick up the Switch Pro for games like The Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal. I'm often surprised by how many games run/look better in handheld mode given the 40% GPU drop off. Works for me given I picked up a Switch for a handheld console experience.
@@bingobongo1615 I would, but most of my friends are on PS4, and I also game share with a friend on PS4 so he'll get it for free if I pick it up. I wish Microsoft would give us some big triple A first party games to really showcase my XB1X power. Without trying to sound negative the Xbox has really been mistreated by Microsoft. We should have had big games like the PlayStation has because it's the first parties that can really push the platform. You only have to look at PlayStation and the first parties. I can't wait for Gears 5 as I think that'll be the first game to really showcase the true power of the X.
I got it today and I really like it and even the loading screen times are not as long as I expected. The only thing I really dislike is the way to high difficulty on "normal". But I really enjoy playing this game.

Thanks to Yuzu (Switch emulator), the Switch port has gotten closer and in some ways better than the PS4/Xbox One versions. Load times are improved if you're running from an internal SSD, there is resolution upscaling, anisotropic filtering, MSAA and mods like 60fps or unlock everything from the Pitstop. At this point, it's only missing some of the smaller environmental details seen in this video and the fur some characters have in the other versions.
Can you look at the Switch version of Bloodstained, and put it alongside the PC version running on the rig you used to test the potential Switch ports of DOOM and The Witcher 3? Because I’m not convinced that the Switch can’t run that game at 60 FPS.

30fps AND 720p is a bit sad. And why are textures in reduced quality? The switch should have enough ram, so is about saving space and using a smaller game cartridge? Input lag is not mentioned in this video. How come? In Crash n sane trilogy the switch version had more input lag than the PS4 and Xbox One. This makes me question why PS4 Pro and Xbox One X don't have 60fps options. If the Switch can handle a stable 720p30 then they should be able to handle at least 1080p60.
In short, Switch gets away with everything just because it's portable. Lower resolution, cutbacks in effects, textures, shadow quality, geometry and environmental detail, but it "holds up well" and "can only recommend". It's needless to analyze games if the outcome is always the same: yes, it's worse but it's on Switch so it's great. Even on the same platform, Mario Kart 8 is much better in every way. 1080p/60fps. Listening to the video my feeling was that Tom went in with an already complete judgment and just made a video to justify it, neglecting the raw technical specs. If we look at this way, every game is best on Switch because it doesn't matter how much they pare them back.
The thing is those cutbacks are expected. Ultimately the switch is running on an outdated mobile processor so yes, it should be judged in light of that fact. The truth of the matter is the switch has a very competent version of the game on it and the cutbacks are so minor that it should be applauded for it. We have seen ports which were absolutely disastrous (wwe 2018) and no one expects the switch to outperform its clearly more powerful competitors. The combination of a competent/above average game on portable hardware will obviously work in the switch's favour
I was still enjoying how lovely this game looks on switch in handheld mode (I don't get to play home consoles that much so portable consoles are my go to these days) Only problem I have with this game is the long loading times and it can be annoying with all players loading online. Mario kart is no where near as hardware intensive, however it still looks beautiful, and as far as I can tell it looks just as good as this game (maybe slightly worse, but 60fps is very demanding) depending on the scene of course. In terms of efficiency this game seems awful. It's half the resolution of Mario kart and half the framerate. This game should in theory have 4x the power available per frame so it seems that the hardware is horribly optimized.

Sony screwed up massively with those memory cards, and the fact they barely marketed it.

For load times, are you comparing the switch version to the disc version, or the downloadable version of the PS4 copy?
ephoenix7 That doesn't matter, as you have to install the discs on both the PS4 and Xbox One's hard drives. The discs are then just used to confirm that you still own the game, and will play the game from the hard drive.
Fantastic port, looks great on Switch and the framerate is pretty stable, load times are the worst part but they are not a deal breaker.

Ok, Mr. Programmer.
Yeah 480p is pretty bad but if it's handled like the N.Sane Trilogy I don't think it'll be too noticeable in handheld play

You don't get how impressive and taxing the technology behind the frame in this game truly is, Mario Kart ain't getting close in that regard.
