Absolutely adorable! My 16yo Red-Tick Beagle has chosen retirement, but pushed bunches of Snowshoe Hare in his day....
I got him used to the gun by using a .22 Starter Pistol. I'd keep it hidden in my pocket, take him out and let him get his sniff-on and when he wasn't paying attention, I'd give a quick "pop" and tons of praise and treats.
Funny....he's scared to death of T-Storms, but could care less about a shotty!

I've had beagle Walker mix we used to hunt with they are great for bobcat can't wait to see her grow up I would recommend another one sometimes bobcats won't tree they will fight and with one dog it can go bad fast becuz you will be a mile behind. My first dog I got was trained on Fox and rabbit never figured it why but when he got about 5yrs he got gun shy bad unless he had his brother with him. Best of luck they are really hard to train without another dog that knows what they are doing. She is one pretty puppy tho
We've had running walkers and a plot hound years ago for cats, it was fun.🙂 Good point, two would probably be better than one. We'll probably be using her mostly for coons, as that is what Liam wanted a puppy for. He listened to the "Where the Red Fern Grows" audio book and watched the movies over and over, lol. Take care!

Cool! I grew up with Bear hounds. Matt has some good dogs, shouldn’t need much training to hunt, it’s bred in them. Good luck

Good video ,I wish that I had trained my lab when she was a puppy for gun noise. She hides when I shoot ..And even though it looks like you had a good breeze during the video I can see those darn black flies are still being a pain same here. 🦌
Oh man. The black flies are furious right now. They should summer down in a few weeks. Hopefully. My Lab is gun shy. I never thought to train her this way. She's also scared to death of fireworks. 😑 Hind sight's 2020.🤦

Its been a year looks like since this video. Do yall still have the coonhound? I see a shepard joined the pack. But was curious about the coonhound.? Honestly asking bc we're thinking of getting one...but want to make sure its a good breed and fit for our pack lol and how its been going? In my search that's how i came across your video. Thanks.
We have a treeing walker, don't use her for hunting though. I would make a comment on using videos to desensitized.
We have 3 dogs, if they are outside and hear other dogs barking, they react or if they hear gunshots out side, they react. If it's on TV, barking, gunshots etc., they don't react, they could care less. I think for a dog, the frequency between live and broadcast is a huge difference, enough so that I think they know what is live and what is on tv.
