Hi Sharlene! I am so glad you got to watch this even though it does bring tears to the eyes.....it also is encouraging us to go forth and "take a bite of this world while you can". At 65, I suffer from severe, chronic, un-treatable depression, among many other things, and so I am always looking for music that I can relate to at the moment or music that will be uplifting too. When I first heard Sound of Silence, I was 7 or 8 years old and loved it so much I memorized the song. Disturbed's version touched my very soul and brought the story of the song to light. There are only a few ballads by Disturbed as they are a heavy metal band, but surprisingly I've come to love that music and the message David shares in his songs. His life story on Wikipedia is very interesting and he has suffered through many challenges. Thank you for sharing your reaction.
Hi....new subscriber! I love this song...and no matter how many times I listen to this song, I get tears rolling down my cheeks! I mainly think about my two siblings that lost children at 20 years old. They were taken away before they had a chance to leave their mark on this world. I also think about my paternal Grandmother that I cared for the last 4 years of her life. I adored her...we had so much in common, and I miss her very much. These 29 years have passed so quickly. I don't know if you have heard of Nightwish, a band from Finland. You might enjoy the music by their lead singer, Floor Jansen ( pronounced Yan sen ). She has an incredible voice, and she just came out with her first album a few weeks ago...March 24, I believe. Here is the link to her song... My Paragon th-cam.com/video/yZQ1o80Kt_Y/w-d-xo.html
The official live version is even more touching. Definitely need tissues. I’m not sure if you’ve been told that Disturbed is a VERY Heavy Metal band.
