So in that respect the to 2 reactions you've done so far, from Ava DuVernay initially discovering Ultralight Beam prompting Ava to seek out Stan through a mutual IG acquaintance to asking Stan to write the theme song for movie "Origin" an adaptation of the book Caste: The Origins Of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson and being able to accomplish the task of producing the music video from writing the lyrics and music for the song including the use of Te Reo (Maori language), costumes (traditional Maori), locations (Stan & his wife Lou's ancestral land), production crew (a couple of cousin's) with their film gear (iphone & drone), filming, directing, editing, production to it's first cut was completed and delivered to Ava in 2 & 1/2 weeks from their initial contact. Stan half expecting Ava to request a few alterations possibly over creative direction/content etc... however to Stan's surprise and probably relief for his production crew Ava absolutely loved it only inserting a few clips from the movie for promotional purposes too "I Am" your first reaction was Stan's response. Those are 2 of his most recent offerings overvthe past year which also include Maori Ki Te Ao (Maori To The World or The Maori Worldview) Ki Taku Awa (Back To The River - English version) He has many more songs to discover crossing multiple genres as well as his collaborations and solo works. Stan's series with The Levites (The Session Band) & The Standard (The Backing Group) of which Ultralight Beam is apart are definitely worth exploring. Stan is Maori the language is Te Reo the language of Maori an official language of our country New Zealand the fluttering of the hands is called Wiri. He co wrote this song and he and a cousins did the video the scenes are mostly from his tribal lands and those of his wife. Only those with the lady in them are from the movie Origan.

Like others here I suggest you check his other music. The director loved his cover of Ultralight Beam (highly recommend) that she invited him to write something for the film. This was his response/reaction to the film. It is a powerful song. He's family has a gene that sadly causes stomach cancer and Stan has had his stomach removed because of it. He's still amazing 💪
