Was looking at this to compare my a7iv to the a7siii sensor that’s in the new zv-e1. I think the a7iv was sharper most of the time and hung in there well during extreme low light. The little light made a huge difference but both are great.

Totally agree! the second gain for the siii comes at a penalty of softening while the 7iv looks much sharper and if noise reduction in post, would probably equal. for me, the most important aspect of high iso is retaining the colors, which the A7iv does without issue, should have mentioned that iso 102K is non native and internally boosted!
TH-cam destroys any noise with aggressive compression and algorithms, so it is really hard to see the differences. I guess if TH-cam is your main output than it is OK. How about download link with better quality compression? Source files? Thank you.

I've spent the last week constantly going back and forth between the A7SIII & the A7 IV. Having watched so many comparison videos I'm starting to think the A7 IV may not be too bad a choice.
Buy the A7IV man. You won't be disappointed unless you really really need & use the 4K 120fps & 4K 60fps uncropped and better rolling shutter performance. Other than that, A7IV has the S III beat. Or you could wait until tomorrow to see if Sony will release the A7s IV
for video, it's going to be a big jump, I had the 6400 for a while and the battery was generally my biggest issue, I shoot a lot of video and it would deplete fast.

It really is! Sold my Siii recently, the pros of the A7iv outweighed the cons, and for me, the ability to do a very good FF and a very good APS-C trumps faster framerates.

I think it's the high contrast that kills the image. If there was something more uniform they'd both look better. Just a question. When you look on your monitor rather than TH-cam does it look pretty much the same? You sold your A7s III so I can assume that they do?

I am sorry, Guy with Camera, not gonna lie, but this video was pretty bad. I honestly hated it -- you need to learn how to give a more objective perception of these cameras. The A7IV is trash for the price/performance compared to A7III which is half the price. A7SIII easily wins because of no 4K crop at 60fps. Not once do you mention the best feature which is gyro-stabilization. Please redo this video.
it is a low light comparison, there are separate videos comparing the A7iv to the A7siii or A7iii on my channel. Once again, this is a low light comparison.
For me, the 4K crop is no issue whatsoever. So it’s a bargain. I understand that it’s an issue for most, which is barely a work around, but for most of us who give a rats ass about crop benefit from the a7iv.
A7SIII is $1000 US dollars more so of course it's better. The A74 price/performance easily trumps the A7III. Also, the price isn't half it's only $500 US dollars less. Let's compare MSRP and not eBay prices to be more consistent.

A7IV is surprisingly close to A7SIII. At extreme high iso, A7IV does have bit more noise but A7SIII's image is also starting to degrade.
indeed, the siii has other advantages, noise is not a big deal between the two IMO. simply different approaches

I like the A74 because it was sharp most of the time. The price makes more sense to me especially since I'm buying a G-master lens with it.

a7iv just looked better in everyway. I think they are just charging for pro res.raw on a7s3 + 4k 120

pretty sure they use the same lens, I have a pair of lenses for these tests but I could be wrong depending on when made.
Hi, I usually shoot aperture priority for videos on my Sony A7iv. Is it okay to set my ISO to 800-12800. Will I still get cleaner footage? Thank you.
800 base is for SLOG formats and it is not exposed like photos and requires a LUT in post, which is not difficult to do

4:12 A74 looks way more sharp and same low-light as A7S3. Probably focus problem
