Great review mate. I've got the OEX fathom EV 300 & 400 plus the Furness 8+ liner. Love the doss bags but not tried the liner yet. The EV 300 cost me £35 and the EV 400 for £40 from Go Outdoors. Great value for money!

Excellent Review. Good to see it being used. 👍🏽 often you see reviews where people just talk about sleeping bags and don’t show themselves in the bag.

Thank you, in the end I bought 3 of them for my kids, my sons has been in regular use and he seems warm and comfortable in it.

You can get a pump sack for the mat which doubles as a dry bag which I keep my sleeping bag in. Also top tip I purchased from Poundland a none slip mat which is designed to go under a rug to stop it sliding. I cut a small square and place it under my air mat to stop it sliding around the tent and another small square for under my pillow.

Hopefully this info helps some folks who are looking to winter camp...
I own the OEX Leviathan sleeping bag, paired with the Sea To Summit fleece liner (warmest of the reactor series), Neoair Venture (2.4 r-value) and some bubble foil insulation. Regular long John's and a base, fleece, hat, heat holder socks and I managed camped on snow at 650m in -10c. I can confirm that was the absolute limit for the aforementioned gear though. Any colder and the mat would have to be replaced for one with down inside. The rest of the items are sufficient for even colder weather.
As backup I have a 750 fill down jacket and some hand warmers to put inside the bag/gloves etc.

Thanks for this comprehensive reply. You are right, the floor is the weakspot. I have been placing a thin Highlander foil mat on top of my air mat-foil side up- and it's much better. Plus I too have the neoair venture but find my seatosummit comfort lite massively warmer (R value 3.7) and not down filled!

Just ordered the OEX liner. I have the OEX 200 summer sleeping bad and the Eurohike 300 winter bag. I'm hoping in conjunction with those I will have all sessions covered.
Cheers for the review. Let us know how you got on with them in real life situations.
    Cheers Doug

Hi Doug. Have had a couple of cold nights using the liner now. Felt a good difference but the biggest was underneath me. Pleasant suprise.

Would you trust the OEX bag in say, - 2 to - 5 conditions, or are they overstating it's capabilities? I have the Leviathan 900 which I really like, and it keeps me really warm, but fancy a synthetic bag for damp conditions. Any advice appreciated.

Sleeping bags ratings are dependent on the warmth of the sleeper . They also are rated with the user wearing thermals. Some peoples exoectations are the temp rating is the external temp and not the tent inner, which will be a few degrees warmer. For me personally, I would use the OEX no lower than plus degrees above freezing.

@@Fellmandave1 Thanks for that. I'm a hot sleeper, and will be using it with a Thermolite extreme liner to bump the temperature up a couple of degrees. At the price, I think it's worth a punt.

would you say the furnace liner compares to the sea to summit reactor extreme? cheers

    • @Fellmandave1
      @Fellmandave1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes Matty. Based on weight and material should be the same

    • @spacecandi22

Have you compared them both in cold temperate as the oex one doesn’t state the temperature improvement
