Thank you for the video and doing the work. I’ve been stating for years that a damn near symmetrical (equal) length parallel pipes through a properly angled x-pipe can turn an LS’s exhaust note into the realms of supercar territory. Especially when using spintechs or going the Dr Gas route with mufflers. One thing that I’ve wanted to do is build this setup on whichever chassis with a cammed LS. Install a module mid pipe for the mufflers and weld up different style muffler to show a sound comparison. Reason; Since you have an exhaust with perfectly smooth (to my years) exhaust pulses, it’s a really good bench mark for how baffled, perforated tube, packed-perforated tube, etc mufflers sound. The chop you get from y-pipes due to timing collision of pulses ruins muffler comparisons. Same with poor quality X pipes that are total cross over. Based on my findings, 14-28degree bend on each pipe in opposition seems to sound/work best with a 35-45% pipe cut in. Anywho, rambling. Again, I very much appreciate this video and work. 👍🤙

That's because of the affect mufflers have on an exhaust. The closer the muffler is to the header, the quieter and more toned it will be. Without a tailpipe after the muffler, it will be much louder and sound more wild
Makes a difference when you engineer an exhaust system instead of slapping random mufflers on there. Buddy got his 6.0 cammed and had a true dual system installed with bullets. Sounded like a machine gun. Was like dude that ain’t right.
I prefer sleepers. I have a 3/4 T 1975 truck with a 350 and 4 speed top load. I have dual 2 1/2 inch pipes with turbo mufflers. No crossover pipe yet. They give a good deep muffled rumble. When I get into the throttle, the engine is what that distinct growl. A lot of kids got embarrassed with their 4 and 6 cylinder cars, and some with V-8's. I calculate I have 350 to 375 HP. It was my every day driver so I didn't want to go too radical. It sure is nice to to have pulling the 9 ton 24 foot deck utility trailer with a load in the hills of Western Pa. The Spintech 6000 mufflers sound good!
Well I need to ship my truck to you now so I can get this exact exhaust built. This this sounds way gnarlier than my custom double x pipe corsa sport setup. Killer job man
I built a similar true dual exhaust for my Trailblazer SS, 2 90's off the d/s to match the p/s, jogged up some w/2 Spintech Sportsman full size mufflers. It was drone free, but sounded good at idle, then when you put your foot in it, they screamed good noises!lol
Holy SH*T, Brother! That is the best sound Ive ever heard! Vette or no Vette. I definitely think that youve accomplished your goal. And yes, it is pretty! Thank you for sharing that.
Holy crap, that truck sounds insane! You're a genius! It's nice to see a content creator who's cares about the sound as much as I do. A friend of mine down here in Grand Rapids has a C5 with Kooks headers and X-pipe, he only revs it to 6600 but it sounds like it's revving way higher, one the best sounding LS engines I've ever heard. I wish I could make my F-body sound like that. I'm hoping over the next year or two I can put together an LS3 with a Cam Motion LLSR setup, TFS 255 heads and a Fast 102 with their mid length runners, rev it to the upper 7000s maybe 8000 rpm, and put it in a C5 with some Kooks headers and X-pipe with a set of 4.10 gears. If I can get this done I think it's going to be one of the most insane sounding cars ever. Hope my budget allows this to happen!
You can do it man! The truck has f body headers on it specifically. It’s super awesome! Focus on equal length and it’ll do it! This truck is a hydraulic roller with oem rocker arms. I spin it 7,850.
@@NorthernPerformanceCars Wow that's a lot of RPM for a hydraulic setup, and part of the reason it sounds so damn good! What lifters are you running? What about valves? Hollow stem stainless or Titanium? I've been learning a lot on LS1Tech but most people are afraid to rev to 7000+ so there isn't a ton out there about higher revving engines.

Mine sounded like a corvette. My 07 nbs 5.3 with the lh6. I did log cabin shorty headers with hi-flo cats. True flow xpipe with dual in and out cherry bomb muffler that I reversed the position of it and then I dumped the 2 pipes in same spot. It was duals with an xpipe and dual in/out muffler. All 2.5 inch. Tigged. With 2 7x4 inch tips. Tuned out afm and put on density tune with no egr. I bought the stainless pipes and cut and bent them myself to what I needed. Will be doing my lml duramax here soon.
What was it that you think made your exhaust sound the way it does, the equal length headers, or equal length exhaust? Truck sounds amazing and is exactly what ive been looking for
The engine has a lot to do with it. A High compression ls2 6.0 vs a LQ9 6.0 with 317 heads, will sound different. The mufflers helps, but the higher compression engine will give this sound.
This is the greatest sounding truck ever! I have always hated the way trucks sound for whatever reason. Love the shit out of my LS1 but 5.3 and 6.0 just sounded like clapping crap! This is very well done!
@@trashbandit2449 the equal length really makes a difference at high rpm and the X pipe under the tailshaft of the trans is as close as you an get it to the manifolds or headers is where you notice the gains, the other X, I wasn't going to use mufflers so instead of just welding more pipe to connect all of that mandrel bent exhaust I had an inline X (the front one is a 90°X) so I threw it on and it made the best high rpm sounds
@@dannyflood3291 yes the first x is very important and it's placement. The second x I can't understand the purpose but it is very cool it makes a difference in exhaust note. I'll have to remember that

This truck sounds amazing, if one was going to do a similar setup on 17 but with a crew cab how much would the longer pipe change the tone or is equal length the key?
Sounds very nice indeed! Looks like it's fun to drive. I've been a Spintech fan since the foxbody days. They recently made me a custom pair of 9000's (slightly wider body to match the factory muff offset) for my Challenger, which I enjoy now. I ponder what your setup would sound and perform like with a pair of properly done 4-2-1 style headers... Not sure if you're familiar with Calvin Elston, he's very knowledgeable about ideal 4-2-1 design. Good posts from him on speed-talk forum (and other forums) over the years. If you're interested and have time, the discussions on design theory and r&d on 4-2-1 vs 4 into 1 and then more specifically on 4-2-1's optimal tube dia's and step lengths per the exhaust port size, HP and max RPM's are interesting and insightful imo.
This is a general idea of what 4-2-1 sounds like on a LS3 C6. I personally think the quality of the tone, in this example, would be improved with some slight muffling or at least anti-reversion chambers. Would love to hear it with a pair of 9000 or 6000's th-cam.com/video/yKvi0-UiZ6Y/w-d-xo.html
I NEED to do this to my 03 Tahoe! its a z71 so I go back and forth wether or not to lower it and do an awd swap, or do a slight lift and some 33s. This sounds amazing!

@@NorthernPerformanceCars do you think the spintechs are too loud for a daily driver? Currently have a Borla XS and a Vibrant resonator before it. No drone and quiet when cruising but I might want something a little louder when I get on it
@@405ruben not at all. I am very pleased with them. No drone anywhere in the truck with the tailpipes the way they are etc. it’s loud. But it’s quieter doing down the road than most. Quieter than a straight piped stock 5.3 by a long ways. Even when I get pulled over for doing dumb stuff the cops never mention the exhaust being too loud and always compliment the sound.
I’ve been looking for something like this! And this is exactly how I thought about doing it! Just dump after the axle because I don’t want to see the tip
Great job. On my next build I want to use a basic 4.8L LS with 8 into 1 (I realize its extremely complecated especially for equal length pipe) headers going to a S475 (or maybe a slightly larger turbo). Turbo back exhaust with 4" or 5" exhaust pipe since alot of turbos what the most exhaust flow as possible. An outlaw or some sort of race muffler since turbochargers act like a pseudo muffler. And either Corvette style exhaust quad tips, or a pair of challenger dual rectangular exhaust tips. Looking for a mixture of Corvette sound and exotic European Supercar sound. I know that a 4.8L LS is a very small engine size/displacement. However if setup correctly with the right turbocharger and tuning its easily capable of 700HP-800+HP. See Richard Holdners TH-cam videos.
It's great, at idle sounds like a big ol rumpidy large displaent engine, mid range sounds like a typical cammed ls and then 5k and above sounds like an angry ass corvette
I like a little more of a deep grunt than a high pitched scream, but I've got to admit this sounds amazing. I'm looking to make ab exhaust system for my 3500 chevrolet Express with a 6.0. I'm thinking long tube headders, high flow performance cathalitic converters, X pipe, short mufflers and a side dump on each side just half way back.
I'm a Ford guy but DAMN that's badass dude! Keep up the good work!!! Wish I could get my 2.7 ecoboost to sound decent but I think that's a dream that I'll never achieve lol. I don't have the displacement 😔

....if I wasn't watching it with my own eyes, I'd never believe it ! fkn SICK bruh !
It’s a real pleasure to the ears!
the exact sound ive been looking for on my truck, awesome rig!
No question, this is the best sounding cateye on TH-cam
Loved the sound of spintech on my charger i just couldn’t help but feel like it was hurting power even more so than a flowmaster couldn’t see thru those mufflers at all. i switched to magnaflow at the time and it felt like i gained 30 hp but it didn’t sound near as good. running black widows now. they sound great but the best sound i ever had were spintech 9000s hands down.
First I’ve ever heard of that. Usually it’s the other way around and spintechs pick up power.
@@littledeel how when you can’t see through them and the exhaust suppose to pass through tiny little holes in those spin traps? i guess i never dynoed but i could feel it
Snappy throttle response, high pitch wail up top, staccato idle with bass.....oh yeah that's one Badass sounding exhaust....
Damn I want my 2001 ext cab to be built similiar to the way this truck is. Yea I know my ext cab is heavy but its got plenty of room and its fun putn the gap on somebody who didnt expect it with a stock 5.3 and some bolt ons. Your truck is badazz man and sounds insane. It sounds like a built Z06 with high dollar exhaust
Heck yea man! Keep plugging away at it. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Shot box single cabs have been it where i grew up since the 70's
I had the 4” on my Camaro and it sounded great. If I ever pull the 10-series Flowmasters off my truck, I’m going with Spintech.
Ditto on the truck
Eww 🤢 flowchokers
I know the video probably doesn't do it justice, but man that thang sounds good!! Great job on that exhaust!!
Best sounding truck on TH-cam by far. Real nice single cab you have there man 👍🏻
Thank you Logan! I love this thing
@@NorthernPerformanceCars Same here I fell hard for my 07 classic, it’s a 4wd I’ve been building with a pro touring style to it. Glad to see you’re still full weight and haven’t ruined one of the last few gems around
@@300blkaac for sure. Sometimes I wish It was lighter. But it’s truly too nice to start cutting down.
@@NorthernPerformanceCars Yes it sure would be nice being lighter. Have you considered doing a purpose build race truck?
@@300blkaac I’m in the middle of this third gen drag car build. Once that is completed and I meet goals. I planned to get rid of that and do something different. Unsure yet.
Been using Spintech for years , Ron makes a great product !!
Absolutely! We love them!
The best exhaust I ever heard was the 5th time I did my old 08 jeep srt ot had Billy Boat headers 3” all the way from headers back 3” X pipe but when I the mufflers was at the end of the truck with the tips welded on the muffler the only thing you could see is the tip but I’ve had many cars many trucks If the muffler is in front of the axle it’ll most always sound like a truck if the muffler is behind the axle it’ll sound way better more Vett like 👍🏽 have blessed day your awesome buddy
Very interesting theory 🤔
@@crw3673 he's got a point, dumps before axle are louder
That's because of the affect mufflers have on an exhaust. The closer the muffler is to the header, the quieter and more toned it will be. Without a tailpipe after the muffler, it will be much louder and sound more wild
I had 1/78 speed engineering headers into a 3in pipe all the way back with a X pipe in the middle. (No mufflers-cats) sounded straight badass
Makes a difference when you engineer an exhaust system instead of slapping random mufflers on there. Buddy got his 6.0 cammed and had a true dual system installed with bullets. Sounded like a machine gun. Was like dude that ain’t right.
True duals always sound terrible and unbalanced.
@@s2knott he wound up with a muffler that had an internal x pipe that sounded the best. After about four different sets lol.
Killer job man
Thanks man. It took me about 120 hours of tinkering to make this happen overtime. 3 tries.
Makes a big difference at top RPM with the equal lengths, cool.
holy shit I've never heard a truck sound like that before love it
MAN, that sounds incredible. Nicely done, especially on the fab work to build the exhaust. Perfect man perfect.
Thank you!
That thing wraps up like a LS7.
@@mastertek383 pretty awesome really. I love it.
He’s still running the 60 trans nice! Now I wanna just build my trans turbo set up!
Wow that sound was off the charts! Good work
Holy SH*T, Brother! That is the best sound Ive ever heard! Vette or no Vette. I definitely think that youve accomplished your goal. And yes, it is pretty! Thank you for sharing that.
Sounds very similar to 8-1 collector exhaust. The ideal sound!
Due to equalness
Dude. That sounds amazing. Literally amazing.
@@C6Z_Bob I revved my 388ci Foxbody 9,000. Went high 6’s.
It has Johnson st2126lsr.
The truck has stainless valves.
The Foxbody had titanium intake
@@NorthernPerformanceCars Hey thanks for the info. I always like learning about different setups
@@NorthernPerformanceCars what are the chance of doing a breakdown of a relatively inexpensive super-high rpm street car engine?
Man that truck sounds pissed off , but absolutely amazing . Spin tech is my personal choice on a muffler on whatever I have .. Well done
Thanks for the kind words!
You should put a patent on this exhaust system. It sounds incredible
Thanks man! It is awesome in person.
I’m so happy this is a legit video and not a stock v8 truck with a blow master exhaust 😂
Great work 👍
Haha thank you!
That is the best sounding truck I've heard. I wonder what the 14-18 lt truck engine would sound like with this setup.
I want to do this, not sure if we have enough room tho 🥲
Look everyone thinks that if you put these mufflers on a stock engine or set up that you have the same sound like this guy’s truck you gotta have the exact work that this guy done to the engine. For you to sound like this gentleman’s truck
Sounds great any thought to having tips come out rear qtr? That would looked nice and not have tailpipes hang down.
Of the box side?
Absolutely not lol
I like the tips out of the back. Wouldn’t hurt to be a touch smaller. In person at ride height it looks good.
Hey brother sorry for the late reply just caught your video what a awesome build one of the baddest a** Silverado's out there thank you for this video plan on building 1 like yours awesome
i wish but i don't think my 4,8 will ever sound that good
Mine sounded like a corvette.
So sick of you to share the info and help others out on getting this nasty sound. Great work.
The revs….super cool.
The second exhaust also sounded very good.
Sir..... You knocked that out of the park! It sounds truly astounding! 💪🏿💯👊🏿🍻
Thanks man! I’m really happy with and and proud of it these days 😂
I have to admit that that is the best sounding exhaust I've heard. I'm jealous. I want one like it!
Thanks a lot!
It’s the factory y pipe. It’s not easy on some but one they are gone. Boom. It’s like magic
Equal length is where it's at, I did an equal length on my stock '06 5.3 and it's very vetish with no mufflers and twin X pipes
How much of a difference vs 1 x pipe, if you ever had just one?
@@trashbandit2449 none as far as power or exhaust scavaging, but the sound is more tuned like a vette or performance track car.
@@dannyflood3291 that's what I was wondering. Weird how it doesn't really change the exhaust flow but changes the sound
I'll have to remember that
Wow I didnt think it would sound like a vette but when you hit the gas amazing bro.I was in the market for a vette but now i might redo my chevy truck exhausts lmao. Nice work thanks for video
No problem man! That’s what we are here for
This truck sounds amazing, if one was going to do a similar setup on 17 but with a crew cab how much would the longer pipe change the tone or is equal length the key?
Equal length is key
Just a gee wiz for anyone looking for HP on N/A setups..

I’ve got an 18 and I’d love it to sound like this
Best sounding pickup truck I’ve ever heard of any make or model ❤️❤️
Thanks man! I poured a lot into that sucker. Haha
The best sounding Silverado I ever heard of the best looking truck I ever seen to the owner of the truck excellent job

@@Smeaded Not yet unfortunately LOL
Just saw your video you posted of it on the RCSB page from doing burnouts on a cruise, SOUNDS AWESOME! It screams, one day I’ll copy this exact exhaust setup

I put spintech on my 05 GTO back in 2010 and it was a beautiful sound.

that is definitely a gnarly sounding truck
Just hearing it I would've said "that Camaro is ripping it" 😂 that thing sounds mean as hell
Sounds even better when your standing next to it 👍👍
It does. Videos really don’t do it justice!
This is exactly my dream!!! Thank you for figuring out the recipe!!
Absolutely amazing 👏 I wish I could make my old square body sound like that.
That sounds badass, the best truck I've ever heard!
It's great, at idle sounds like a big ol rumpidy large displaent engine, mid range sounds like a typical cammed ls and then 5k and above sounds like an angry ass corvette
Hell yea. That’s a great description
I’d love to have this setup ran on my V8 Blazer.!.❤
Awesome build overall Man.!.
Don't be ashamed of those 2.3 eco.
