How much did everything cost when you factor in the travel? hehehe but seriously! thats awesome! Japan sounds like a great place to stock up on art supplies!
A lot of money, that's for sure, hahaha. But I mainly went to Japan because I wanted to go, it was only later that I realized I could go art supply shopping! AND YES... I seriously regret not buying MORE microns and Poscas... they are more than twice the price here, I should have stocked up!
@Doodle Date Real relationship goals is when you can't tell who wrote the comment no matter how long you stare at it 😂 hi Steph&Adam love your stuff guys!
omg, I NEED that pencil case. I will definitely have to get it when I go back to Japan in the Spring! So glad to see how much you enjoyed shopping there :D
Yep, check out Kokuyo's pencil case, they have a similar concept one that'll transform to a holder if you can't wait for your trip to Japan or because.... Yeah
This haul is so funny because when I grew up in Japan I idolized American art supplies and I made my dad buy me stuff when he took trips to America. I miss being able to get good, cute stationary...
In the US copic sketch markers actually tend to be from $7-9 while the copic ciao is about $5-7 depending where you are purchasing them from (cheapest usually blick, and most usually expensive micheals or hobby lobby) also Kasey remember DO NOT USE WATERCOLOR PAPER with copics it ruins the nibs and dries the markers out more (I failed to know that with my cheap markers till it was too late), it doesn’t bleed through he paper but if u want no bleeding get Rendr paper its magic
Actually I think that copics do work great on some watercolor paper yes even the ones with texture. Yes the tip will worn out faster and the ink get sucked up. But it's not that bad. And with the paper that I use the copics becomes really vibrant and blend well. I really like to use it and I also know the disadvantages. But I wouldnt say it is a "waste" of ink if I like the result. So I would say try it Kasey! And see if you like it. It is personal preference and not a no no for copics. And watercolor Paper is really great for mix media such as paint and pencil if you want to add a lot of that in your art. But other great paper for Copic would be Bristol board or good cardstock!
Marker paper is the best paper to use for expensive markers. The reason you don’t want to use watercolor paper is because sometimes the textured paper damages the nibs and also because it’s made to absorb lots of liquid so the ink is used excessively. Marker paper prevents that and also protects the nibs so if you can afford copics you should also invest in good marker paper.
@@emilypeca1153 I think I looked up Nakabayashi Kraft Lifestyle tool? I just screenshotted the wrappers while the video was in HD and zoomed in to read
If you use the thinner paper with the kuretake gansai watercolours it should work well. If I'm remembering right, the story with Japanese style watercolours was that their paper was traditionally thinner so the paint was thicker and easily activated by water to compensate. Loving the video btw!
i love how Japan makes such amazing art supplies so affordable, it’s like their encouraging people that Art is also an awesome career and not some trap 💖😭
Hi Kasey! I’m from Mexico, so if you see some words write incorrectly is because I’m not good at English I love all your videos, you inspire me to draw! I love your style and your materials! I hope you see this comment because I want you to know that you draw so beautiful! With love Valeria (one of your fans)
10:11 i have one of those! they're _really_ useful because they transform from a pencil pouch to a pencil holder and they're _way_ more efficient than just reaching in the bag everytime you need something!
Goooosh I desperately want to go to Japan. I never even thought about art supplies and now the urge just grows even bigger. One day my dreams will come true
Those graphgear 500 pencils are fantastic. used them for the last 15 years. and the first one i bought lasted for 8 years, even though a used it for things they werent meant for, so quite durable.
You inspired me to create an art channel!!! ❤️ I'm a huge fan and think your art I'd awesome! I've been trying to learn watercolors for a while and watching your videos really helped! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I went to Japan last August for my birthday and bought 96 Copic sketch markers that I swatched out on my channel, I couldn't believe how cheap they were! My mom also bought me the tone eraser and gave it to me for Christmas, I didn't realize what it was for until I watched your video, that's pretty cool! I love Japan, I can't wait to go back!
The yellow tool you got for the stamps is definitely my favorite stamp carving tool! It essentially digs out a little moat (water sold separately) and makes very clean lines!!
Re; the thin paper in sketchbooks, I don't know about Japan but I know here in Korea paper is super expensive because there's not many paper mills due to the simple lack of trees. Most of the mountainous tree covered areas are national parks and can't be cut down so the supply of trees is limited. Thus they make the paper in sketch books thinner and cheaper to make. I'm not sure if Japan has the same issue though being an island nation I'm sure they do to some degree. Also I'm lowkey drooling over the price of markers because here in Korea the import tax from Japan is *super* high
I gave all my poscas away a while back and after watching your videos I’m kind of regretting it haha. They make me wanna use them again! You can get thick watercolor paper pretty easily here! The hobby stores like loft or Tokyu hands can sometimes be a little limited in their choices but If you go to an art store they will have a large variety of watercolor papers with all different weights/thickness. They sell pretty much all the brands you can find in the states. :)
When I was in Japan, I couldn't resist the Copics either😂 I think I bought like 80 Copics because they were so cheap(compared to Germany where they cost 7€) Also if you need some paper that works well with Copics I can suggest the Strathmore 300 series Bristol Paper(at least for me it works really well~)
I was able to visit Japan last year and it was equally amazing. I was able to complete my Copic collection then! But there was still so many other art supplies that I wanted for super cheap!

Art supply shopping in Japan is literally living the dream! 😍 Well, as long as I had a good amount of money to spend!😂💖✨🎨 That and visiting the Ghibli Museum would be the top of my list!💓👌

I've got one of those pencil cases, got it from Amazon UK for about £6 on prime, so still not to bad in price! And yup, they are SO useful! I've got my 'I need to sketch NOW' things in it & I really love it. I'd recommend getting one:) Lovely to have you back Kasey! Hopefully you had a wonderful time out there.
I love using the Copic multiliners. Especially since they're waterproof. The ones that are refillable, where you can also change the nibs are approximately $10 and some number of cents in California.

I got mine off of DickBlick for 5.24. www.dickblick.com/products/copic-sketch-markers/
The paper that I know works the best for Copics is bristol paper. It holds in the ink and it also is quite smooth -_^
Dude, in malaysia, copics are suuppper rare and when you find them, it's 20 ringgit per copic sketch. And it breaks my heart.

I bought over 72 copic sketch markers, 5 sketchbooks (2 for copics, 1 for watercolor, 1 for mix media, 1 like the cutie small one you have but wonderwoman cover) bought some POSCA and 2 sets of Copic fine liners. 2 copic storage cases, some spare nibs in case I ruin them, mechanic pencil EXACTLY like that one you showed in this video. This is so neat! I love those boxes. Wonder if there is anywhere I could get them in the states. Were they called anything specific?
I'm going to Japan this winter, and I'm stoked for the cute art supplies and cheap copics and poscas!
Where I live, Copics are $8 a marker-
Those are some tasty supplies right there. Also I must get those collapsible box thingies, I don't have a large flat table where I can just HAVE my markers and stuffs laying there sideways, so it's always a Jenga game whenever I'm in the middle of an illustration and have to get supplies XD
Going to Japan has upped on my bucket list (especially after seeing the copious amounts of delicious foods from your IG stories XD)
