A bonus video for you today, mainly because I don't want to keep recommending a product that has been completely revamped and that I have never tried. So here are my first impressions and quick review of the 2018 version of the Ohuhu Alcohol Markers. Do you have these or the old ones? Do you like them?
I got mine just before 2017 was over as a Christmas gift to myself and I love them to death. I do want to mention that you did influence the purchase of those by the way because I was on the fence about them actually being good for such a cheap price and they were pretty good. tho I do want to get some brush tip alcohol markers as I've never used those before.
Can you do a review on daler Rowney pencils and sketchbook because they are super cheap the pencils are $3.45 at my Walmart and the sketchbook if u get the small one it is $4.30 and the biggest one which is what I have is $7.87 and this is all in u.s dollars but its your Decision
am i weird, because even if the cap fits on the end of the pen I just hold the cap in the hand im not colouring/ drawing with does anybody else do that?
*I have a theory.* After reading your comments, it sounds like the 60 count set may still be the old version of these markers. As an test, let me know if you have purchased these markers in the last couple months. Which count and whether they were the new barrel or the old. I think its relevant information for those interested in purchasing these.
when that slant was pointed out at 2:39 i could already picture what would happen and i cringed at the thought of not being able to experience the satisfaction of clicking the cap into place 😭
The reason for the change is that at first they were just putting their name on another brands marker. (I know this because the original marker is the same inks and numbers as the touchfive markers.) but now ohuhu made a lot of money so they were able to make there markers more unique and better🤗

SO I looking at markers on online and I saw TOUCH NEW skin tone 24 set but as I was looking at the markers, I realized that THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME SHADES OF COLORS AS THE OLD OHUHU MARKER. @DrawingWiffWaffles they have... POTATO BROWN. Basically, Touch New markers have the exact same colors. Hey Waffles! Late commenter, sorry bout that, but I was just on Amazon and I saw something! OK, so there's this brand named TouchNew, and they sell markers that look EXACTLY like the old Ohuhu ones! Their skin tone set even has a.... *drumroll* POTATO BROWN! Funny how Ohuhu markers are Copic knockoffs and then TouchNew markers are Ohuhu knockoffs 😆 Guess you could call it knockoff inception, but I just wanted to let you know if you ever wanted new markers that look like the old Ohuhu ones!
yes, many peopel seem to be saying this. i referred to them as 'promarkers' in my own comments, which wasnt right, despite me having them!!!! touchnews are. eh. sub-par, the lighter colors dry dreadfully fast, but they help you learn. they are unfortunately bad at shading and such.
You can actually buy Copic brush tips separate. I bought some (3 for like 7 dollars at hobby lobby) and just ripped out the chisel tip of the ohuhu and put the copic tip in. It worked really great! The hole for the nib was a little too big, but it just made the brush shorter. I haven't had any issues with ink leakage or a wobbley nib so I definitely reccomend It!
If you ever see this Rin, probably not, but, I just wanted to say that you are amazing, and I don't know how you stay so happy all the time, even when life gets you down, your awesome, stay strong Rin
Ok so two things 1. I just ordered ohuhu markers and I’m super excited about them 2. Yeah autoimmune/ chronic illnesses are not fun I have have one too :/ but my treatment helps a lot! :)
quick tip for yall! the touchnew markers are exactly the same as ohuhu markers (the older versions) and they even come with a white gel pen and their own lining marker if you get a certain set. They are pretty cheap, and the color names are the same as ohuhus. They are a bit streaky though, but there are methods you can use to help with that. Anyways, happy arting.
I've been looking for some good alcohol markers since I'm always afraid of coloring in my drawings because of the cheap ones. Can you send me a link for the ones you have? There are multiple different kinds of touchnew and I can't see a difference. It would really help.
I was thinking on buying some of these markers for my birthday but now they dont have their name on i cant as i have achromatopsia or momochromancy (full colour blindness) so at the moment i guess that i am sticking to pencil only! I really wanted to get some because I’ve been hearing good things about them, but I have tritanopia (blue-yellow colourblindness, although blue-green colourblindness is a more accurate name). I might be able to manage with some help, but i’m not sure.
You could buy touchfive markers, they're the exact same as the old Ohuhu and have the names on the cap. (Unless they somehow also changed it, but I last got some on new year's and they were still the same then)
I remember my first time trying alcohol based markers. A kid who loved making art sat behind me in Social Studies, and I noticed he had Copic Markers out, and I completely fan-girled over them. He let me use a skin tone to color one of my doodles in, and I swear, it was like holding my own child. It was enchanting. I can't wait until my birthday

Frisé Yeah, as a lazy artist, I find it hard to get inspired or think up of ideas to draw. Having color names kinda give me a theme to draw and let me explore in designs and other creations. An example would be “Sun-kissed Tan” or “Garden Green.”
I like how your like“ i love having color names on the markers!” But on the master marker review your like “ I don’tkbow why we need color names its not like your going to color a banana with the bannana marker.(and yes i spelt banana wrong on purpose.Thats how it was splet on the marker)
Hey, Rin! I watched your old Ohuhu marker review a few months ago and it inspired me to try them out. I got the 2018 version and I've been really pleased with them. The interesting thing is my friend got the 60 marker set and they came with the old version of markers. Either way, great video and thanks for inspiring me!

I just ordered my first set of ohuhu markers and I couldn’t be more excited! I got the 80 set because I have been working with cheap bad markers so I just cannot wait! 💖
When I got mine it was below zero so I brought them inside my house which was freezing because our heater was not working but we got it fixed so it became 100 degrees (Fahrenheit) so my markers exploded but I did get a new set. Edit was me fixing my spelling mistakes

I just found your channel and have been having a fun time watching all your videos! I just saw the part where your hands were shaking and you hashtagged prednisone and omg girl I feel you. I used to be on prednisone a lot when I was younger. Luckily, I haven't relapsed in a few years but I totally understand all the side effects. Stay strong and I hope you're feeling better soon! If you really like pastel there is a pastel copic ciao set and it might be on the expensive side but I have them and they are good for beginners. They also have a bunch of other sets but I recommend the ciao ones for beginners.
if you get the 80 or 40 set you can make a swatch page with the names since the names of the 80 set (well the ones that are doubles) are on her swatch page in the vid and at 12:59 she shows the 40 set with the color names, that will help
But- I really love drawings that are made color blind so all the colors depend on shades and the colors are so different and mixed. You must’ve already made those type of drawings tho so

@strawberry jam I agree I have the old 80 set and it gives you a lots of choices. So if you get the 80 set then your guaranteed to get 1 or more lighter and darker shades of 1 colour. This is just my personal experience
I think I'll stick to my master markers, which I bought because of you! Also, I can feel you on the auto immune disorders. My mom has lupus, and we never found a diagnosis for mine. The constant pain, weariness, being bed ridden, the shaking, etc. is super annoying especially for artists. There's period of time that drawing isn't an option until the flare up goes down. I remember the video you made a while ago, when you weren't doing so hot and I just wanted to know I know how you feel and that you have us to support you! I've spent my whole childhood being sick but your videos make me feel a little better for a while.

I remember when I got these markers, cause they were different compared to the ones in your first review, and I was reaallyyyy confused. But, I still use them, and they're great markers!
So it's been a while.... My newer Ohuhu markers ran out of ink very quickly! I dont know if this was just a problem with my set, but I got Artnfly markers instead, and those are working great. Anyway... Thought I'd share.
I got touch five markers which are a lot like ohuhus and my number 57 exploded just like your 56, except mine wouldn't work afterwards :( Edit: The caps of these fit on the back! Yay!
You are supposed to "loosen" the cap before opening because "a big change in air pressure can mess them up" or something like that... You "twist the cap back and forth a bit" then gently lift... Confusing...
Klarise Kai I’m able to use touch-five markers pretty well, my artist friends says she likes how they work and they blend well as long as you’re quick enough

a really helpful thing for the marker caps is to get a small bowl, like a condiment bowl (like the plastic cups from fast food, but ceramic) or one of those jewelry holders that's got a point for rings and have it right near your work space and just remember to always put your cap right there at least, that's what I'd do

You see the old markers are better because 1. You can put the cap on the other end 2. The marker dose not roll At 5:00 the new marker rolls My theory why it is like this is because if you loss the cap you have to by an other and if the pen for some reason Rolls off the edge of a mountain you will have to buy an other one. You see it is quite smart Way to get you to buy another set so a positive for the the sellers and a minus for the buyers :/

Hi Waffles! Please make a marker review on Charmeleon Markers! I’ve watched rewind on those they are in some peoples opinions better than Copics and they are cheaper than copics! Hope you see this! Love ya bai❤️

They’re too sturdy,not handy at all, the brush nib is quite meh, and the blending (which is its main feature) ain’t as great as they advertise. And of course the ink is not as good. They’re still pretty good compared to other brands, but I don’t think they’re better than copics. Just to share my opinion :D

Sadie Blogs I would say definitely yes, I have three versions of the Ohuhu markers and all of them work great, the new ones are actually a little better than the other two in my opinion. They’re a great first try for markers, and pretty cheap too!
Arteza doesn't have alcohol markers though. If they make some, I'll buy them asap because I love arteza but water based markers are something VERY VERY DIFFERENT (as someone who uses both)
Ayumi Chan I just checked and 1 yen = 0.0090something USD. So just under a cent. So you can divide by 100 for yen -> USD for a roughly right amount. Or, to be more accurate, take off 10% after that. But that probably only matters with really big amounts. (This is currently correct but the prices of currencies are subject to change).
In that case, copic sketch markers come in near 5-6 USD online (500-600 yen?), Often 8 USD (800 yen) in stores. I heard it's more expensive to get them in the USA than in Japan. Then again, I heard Japan is the original manufacturer of copics, so that could be why they cost less.
Hmm. Neopiko2 markers used to be 3,5 euros in the shopping center here and Copic Ciaos in an art store were 4,5 euros, though the art store keeper gave me a discount for buying several, so it became 4 euros per marker. That's affordable, considering how long they will last, and if you only buy colours you actually use. I see no point in hauling them though.

Try out the 100 set. There might be more pastels and potato brown might be back! I’ve only seen 1 review on them and it was about 1 year ago, so I hope you can get to that soon ☺️
Wait I’m confused. The number on the caps and swatching sheet go up to about 200. I checked amazon and it seems like they sell only up to 80. Is there a set with all of them or what. Like how do u acquire all of them???
When you buy a large set of markers from any cheap marker company they often don't give you all the colours. I got a cheap set of alcohol markers (not ohuhu tho) on ebay, they're pretty bad cause they bleed through my lineart but they have numbers missing as well. I only got one purple marker and I was really sad because purple is my favourite colour. They just chuck in the right number of pens and it's kind of a gamble to see what colours you get.
@@lindsayhughes7672 They just throw random markers in, they don't go in order. They check if there are no duplicates, and if there aren't any they send it out. If you want all of them, you have to get many many sets and you will probably have many many duplicates. Sorry I'm so late to respond, but there are 200 different markers.
if you are planning on going to japan since they make copics in japan they cost a normal amount and they dont cost like 5 dollars they are about 2 to 3 dollars and there are products that are not shipped to the us. so if you are going to japan get copics there.
@strawberry jam Tombow dual brush pens are not just for calligraphy, and while they are waterbased if you know how to use them and use a smooth paper, they don't destroy or get all streaky. They make excellent options if you want a cheaper alternative with a brush, and you can buy a small starter pack, skin tones only, all the way up to large sets. The real downside is that they aren't refillable.
@strawberry jam more so than cheap kids stuff; but, you can grab an intro pack on sale or with a coupon which has enough pens to make most colors, even small packs come with a self cleaning blender to lighten or blend. The blender obviously works with other water based items.
I love tombow too, but they are a little streaky. They're great for calligraphy tho. Also, the colors are really nice. They're not as expensive as copic, and it's about 17-22 dollars per pack
I just got the 60 marker set! I like vibrant colors but then again I am rly new to art so knowing there more pastel in there is comforting to me. Thanks Rin love u!

Also, it's so great to have an actual Ohuhu review rather than a video complaining about how cheap they are... Omg yes! I wish all markers could be capped on the other end to hold it while you color... sometimes I got multiple markers open at the same time and then I lose a cap! So frustrating

I bought them last week on amazon (France) and it was the old version, but I really like them so that's fine ;)

Honestly, I think that the new markers have more beautiful colours.

quick tip for yall! the touchnew markers are exactly the same as ohuhu markers (the older versions) and they even come with a white gel pen and their own lining marker if you get a certain set. They are pretty cheap, and the color names are the same as ohuhus. They are a bit streaky though, but there are methods you can use to help with that. Anyways, happy arting.
I've been looking for some good alcohol markers since I'm always afraid of coloring in my drawings because of the cheap ones. Can you send me a link for the ones you have? There are multiple different kinds of touchnew and I can't see a difference. It would really help.

I was thinking on buying some of these markers for my birthday but now they dont have their name on i cant as i have achromatopsia or momochromancy (full colour blindness) so at the moment i guess that i am sticking to pencil only! I really wanted to get some because I’ve been hearing good things about them, but I have tritanopia (blue-yellow colourblindness, although blue-green colourblindness is a more accurate name). I might be able to manage with some help, but i’m not sure.
You could buy touchfive markers, they're the exact same as the old Ohuhu and have the names on the cap. (Unless they somehow also changed it, but I last got some on new year's and they were still the same then)

I remember my first time trying alcohol based markers. A kid who loved making art sat behind me in Social Studies, and I noticed he had Copic Markers out, and I completely fan-girled over them. He let me use a skin tone to color one of my doodles in, and I swear, it was like holding my own child. It was enchanting. I can't wait until my birthday

Frisé Yeah, as a lazy artist, I find it hard to get inspired or think up of ideas to draw. Having color names kinda give me a theme to draw and let me explore in designs and other creations. An example would be “Sun-kissed Tan” or “Garden Green.”

Hey, Rin! I watched your old Ohuhu marker review a few months ago and it inspired me to try them out. I got the 2018 version and I've been really pleased with them. The interesting thing is my friend got the 60 marker set and they came with the old version of markers. Either way, great video and thanks for inspiring me!

I just ordered my first set of ohuhu markers and I couldn’t be more excited! I got the 80 set because I have been working with cheap bad markers so I just cannot wait! 💖
When I got mine it was below zero so I brought them inside my house which was freezing because our heater was not working but we got it fixed so it became 100 degrees (Fahrenheit) so my markers exploded but I did get a new set.

I just found your channel and have been having a fun time watching all your videos! I just saw the part where your hands were shaking and you hashtagged prednisone and omg girl I feel you. I used to be on prednisone a lot when I was younger. Luckily, I haven't relapsed in a few years but I totally understand all the side effects. Stay strong and I hope you're feeling better soon! If you really like pastel there is a pastel copic ciao set and it might be on the expensive side but I have them and they are good for beginners. They also have a bunch of other sets but I recommend the ciao ones for beginners.

if you get the 80 or 40 set you can make a swatch page with the names since the names of the 80 set (well the ones that are doubles) are on her swatch page in the vid and at 12:59 she shows the 40 set with the color names, that will help

@strawberry jam I agree I have the old 80 set and it gives you a lots of choices. So if you get the 80 set then your guaranteed to get 1 or more lighter and darker shades of 1 colour. This is just my personal experience

I think I'll stick to my master markers, which I bought because of you! Also, I can feel you on the auto immune disorders. My mom has lupus, and we never found a diagnosis for mine. The constant pain, weariness, being bed ridden, the shaking, etc. is super annoying especially for artists. There's period of time that drawing isn't an option until the flare up goes down. I remember the video you made a while ago, when you weren't doing so hot and I just wanted to know I know how you feel and that you have us to support you! I've spent my whole childhood being sick but your videos make me feel a little better for a while.

My newer Ohuhu markers ran out of ink very quickly! I dont know if this was just a problem with my set, but I got Artnfly markers instead, and those are working great. Anyway...

You are supposed to "loosen" the cap before opening because "a big change in air pressure can mess them up" or something like that... You "twist the cap back and forth a bit" then gently lift... Confusing...

a really helpful thing for the marker caps is to get a small bowl, like a condiment bowl (like the plastic cups from fast food, but ceramic) or one of those jewelry holders that's got a point for rings and have it right near your work space and just remember to always put your cap right there
at least, that's what I'd do
It's better to store markers in a horizontal position than vertical.

if you do think about getting copics I would recommend getting Copic ciao markers because you can do the cap thing :) just saying

My theory why it is like this is because if you loss the cap you have to by an other and if the pen for some reason Rolls off the edge of a mountain you will have to buy an other one. You see it is quite smart Way to get you to buy another set so a positive for the the sellers and a minus for the buyers :/

They’re too sturdy,not handy at all, the brush nib is quite meh, and the blending (which is its main feature) ain’t as great as they advertise. And of course the ink is not as good. They’re still pretty good compared to other brands, but I don’t think they’re better than copics. Just to share my opinion :D

Sadie Blogs I would say definitely yes, I have three versions of the Ohuhu markers and all of them work great, the new ones are actually a little better than the other two in my opinion. They’re a great first try for markers, and pretty cheap too!

Arteza doesn't have alcohol markers though. If they make some, I'll buy them asap because I love arteza but water based markers are something VERY VERY DIFFERENT (as someone who uses both)

I don't really know how much a dollar is in America but over here a Copic marker is 300 yen which I'm guessing that is about 3 dollars)
Ayumi Chan I just checked and 1 yen = 0.0090something USD. So just under a cent. So you can divide by 100 for yen -> USD for a roughly right amount. Or, to be more accurate, take off 10% after that. But that probably only matters with really big amounts.

In that case, copic sketch markers come in near 5-6 USD online (500-600 yen?), Often 8 USD (800 yen) in stores. I heard it's more expensive to get them in the USA than in Japan. Then again, I heard Japan is the original manufacturer of copics, so that could be why they cost less.
@@FatimahCharles since they are manufactured in Japan, they do need to be shipped to companies in the USA and Canada, making it more expensive.
Hmm. Neopiko2 markers used to be 3,5 euros in the shopping center here and Copic Ciaos in an art store were 4,5 euros, though the art store keeper gave me a discount for buying several, so it became 4 euros per marker. That's affordable, considering how long they will last, and if you only buy colours you actually use. I see no point in hauling them though.

When you buy a large set of markers from any cheap marker company they often don't give you all the colours. I got a cheap set of alcohol markers (not ohuhu tho) on ebay, they're pretty bad cause they bleed through my lineart but they have numbers missing as well. I only got one purple marker and I was really sad because purple is my favourite colour. They just chuck in the right number of pens and it's kind of a gamble to see what colours you get.

If you want all of them, you have to get many many sets and you will probably have many many duplicates. Sorry I'm so late to respond, but there are 200 different markers.

if you are planning on going to japan since they make copics in japan they cost a normal amount and they dont cost like 5 dollars they are about 2 to 3 dollars and there are products that are not shipped to the us. so if you are going to japan get copics there.

@strawberry jam Tombow dual brush pens are not just for calligraphy, and while they are waterbased if you know how to use them and use a smooth paper, they don't destroy or get all streaky. They make excellent options if you want a cheaper alternative with a brush, and you can buy a small starter pack, skin tones only, all the way up to large sets. The real downside is that they aren't refillable.
@strawberry jam more so than cheap kids stuff; but, you can grab an intro pack on sale or with a coupon which has enough pens to make most colors, even small packs come with a self cleaning blender to lighten or blend. The blender obviously works with other water based items.
I love tombow too, but they are a little streaky. They're great for calligraphy tho. Also, the colors are really nice. They're not as expensive as copic, and it's about 17-22 dollars per pack
