    Our 5 door refrigerator freezer thermistor with the fan had to be replaced. The technician came and diagnosed the problem. I told him it was throwing the PO code. He then said that the control board and the other board would need to be replaced as well. I did more research and read someone’s else’s post on this problem and he said once you fix the problem with the thermistor the PO code would go away. Thanks to that guys comments he saved us a bundle of money. The technicians are doing people a disservice by replacing these boards when they are working fine. Shame on them.

    Does this cure the frosting up issue? All my components test to be “working” but have to defrost every 30-60 days.

    I need to know what the name of the black part that you took off of on the old evaporator fan and then you put it in the new evaporator fan

    Excellent step by step instructions to get to the fan. My fan and evaporator keep freezing up. The indicator is that there's a loud buzzing noise. The repair guy has come out 3 or 4 times to "fix" it. When this happens there's so much ice buildup that you need to use a portable steamer to even get to the screws to remove the back panel. After that, the whole area behind the panel is a big icy mex that needs to be thawed with the steamer. I watched three repair guy do it, but i really appreciate these instructions. This video was a great help. Thank you!

      They've 'fixed' it how? They replaced the part in this video 3 times and it still happens? I ask only because I had the same issue and replaced the part about a month ago. If the issue continues to return, I'd say Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) may have a recall on their hands.

      @@gauchpotato I was finally able to get Whirlpool to declare my refrigerator a lemon, and receive compensation. They didnt replace the unit, but gave me enough to buy a new one. I actually like this better because now i can buy a different unit if i want. Good luck with your refrigerator. BTW, after I defrosted I turned off the ice maker. It sucks not having any ice, but it seems to have stopped the condenser from freezing. Not sure why.

      @@williammoloney how were you able to get Whirlpool to address this issue with you? I’m having the same problems and have already spent nearly $1000 in repairs and it still doesn’t work right! It’s only 2 years old, bought directly from Whirlpool.

      @@nathandwyer2552 In short, I said that I planned to take them to small claims court. I called WP several times to see if they would declare it a lemon or to buy back, never got anywhere. I finally asked to speak to a supervisor. She tried the same mumbo-jumbo. I said that I have all of the records, and that we will let judge decide if I am right or wrong. I heard it was expensive for large companies to attend small claims court.

    I am having trouble with the fan in the bottom freezer, it never begins to spin. I've replaced the fan motor and everything and it still will not spin. My next theory is that the issue lies with the start relay for the fan but I cannot figure out which thing is the start relay. Any ideas on what I might be able to do to fix this?

    As you see 9 months ago I replaced this fan… been great since then now all of the sudden was real loud again and just as I suspected it’s packed full of ice all behind foam and ice hitting fan making it noisy… any idea why I’m getting the build up of ice inside there?

    • @williammoloney
      @williammoloney 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never found a real solution. When i hear the noise i take the steamer out and defrost it. Note: i turned off the ice maker and sealed it off. That seems to give a longer interval between defrosting. Good luck. I would love to hear a solution that fixes the frost problem and also allows me to use the ice maker.

      @@williammoloney Defrost what? My freezer is not as cold as it should be, but the fridge is fine. The condensor fan motor is good. I think it's the evaporator fan making all the noise, and not blowing cold air into the freezer. My ice maker is shut off prior to this noise. Do you mean the coil iced over? Any suggestions? I already replaced the blown LED light in the freezer and now this just started yesterday. This fridge is 3 years old this month and I love it, but I'm starting to think the quality is lacking for the price. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

      This model fridge are a pain to work on. Most case I found the drain line clogged up causing the frost to buildup in that coil. There a drain hose behind the unit that could be replaced or clean out to help prevent the issue. Also main board on these fail to sent it defrost from my experience working on these. Hope this information help out.

      @@williammoloneyhow did you turn off the ice maker? I’m having the same issue. Freezer is iced up to fan.

    • @williammoloney
      @williammoloney 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @calivalley9056 Open the freezer door, then open the door for the ice maker. On the left side of the ice bucket there is a toggle switch to turn the ice maker off. On my refrigerator the on/off positions are clearly marked. The off position is when the switch is set towards the back of the refrigerator. Hope this helps. Note. I turned off the ice maker and tried filling the ice bucket with store bought ice, but even that seems to make me defrost the freezer more often

    • @carazebrowski8189

      No. This is the evaporator fan for the freezer compartment only. The fridge compartment has it's own separate fan.

      The door is not pushing the switch enough, there is a door misalignment or a piece of ruber missing, I had the same problem before!
