Our Amana was doing the same as your video, followed your disassembly, put my meter on motor plugs and we had juice. So I wiggled both spaded plugs and motor ran. Discovered broken wire at the spaded female connection, replace, reassembled and back in business. You saved me a grand at least, So Thanks a thousand times, I love TH-cam for this reason, this isn't the first time I fixed something after watching a TH-cam video. Thumbs Up

Great video. I have this model Amana, that has a few upgrades, but like cars, the internals are basically the same. I had the same problem, fridge compartment slightly cool, but not ice cold like I used to have it. Turns out it was the "evaporator motor" was not working. I checked for the part on eBay, only $20 shipped. (I suspect calling a repair guy would have resulted in a $200 bill, part included. I base this on the motor shows it is $80 retail.)
Anyway, what happens when the motor goes out, the fan does not blow cold air into the fridge compartment (from the freezer into the fridge). The removal and install in this video is spot on, however, what I did was test the motor and fan after I connected the wires. I did not want to put it all back together only to find out it was not working. If you do this, place the motor in an angle that the wires will not cross and short out, and also to prevent the fan blade hitting anything.
Of course, if there's ice build-up clear all that out. The accumulation is usually because the fan was not distributing the air resulting in ice forming.

Great question, yes the evaporator fan motor circulates air into the refrigerator & freezer if it is not running it will only partially cool. With our technicians
now getting hundreds questions weekly, they are answering all questions at our
website www.appliancevideo.com/repair-help/ . We also have over 30000 common questions
and answers that you can easily search through by your model number, appliance

Thanks for the video, I took off the back panel, found the fan wasn't moving, just tapped it with the screwdriver and it fired back up... it seemed to be stuck. Cheers!

I have an Amana side-by-side. It stopped working last night. I unplugged and plugged back and it started working again. All fans are running and compressor is fine.
What could cause it to cut off, and then rest, and start back up on replug?
    Thanks

    Awesome video. Thanks so much.
I am a diy person with common sense but, I have a question.
If I can feel air coming out of the freezer vents, does that mean the fan is working or, just the compressor pushing air through the vents w/o the fan motor working?
    GOD bless and thanks again.
