One of my favourite movies. Both of them are the 2 sides of the same coin (hence why they constantly mistake each other's identity and the running joke is that it doesn't really matter who's who) and cannot avoid their fate. That's the main premise around which all the brilliance crafted by Tim Roth, Garry Oldman and the others goes around. What people who haven't seen or aren't familiar with Shakespeare's play need to know is that ultimately, Hamlet fakes his own madness (as he clearly understands his uncle Claudius' role in all of this) and plots revenge. His uncle, Claudius, is afraid of this, and thinks of ways to eliminate Hamlet by various plots. And Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are unwilling pawns in all of this. By the end of the play however, both Hamlet and his uncle, the Queen and Hamlet's opponent are all killed (as seen on the renactment of the play in the very movie), so the ultimate joke is that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are indeed dead (in their role and fate which cannot avoid) but so is Hamlet and everyone else who's key to the plot, as neither Hamlet nor his uncle can even see a glimpse of how unavoidable their fate is. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern however, albeit too late and already being with ropes around their necks, ultimately, understand, both their role and how unavoidable fate is. As Shakespeare once put it in "As You Like It" - "All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players", a wink to the fact that it doesnt matter how late one recognizes this in his or her life, as long as that fact is recognized
One of my favorite films of all time. I keep wondering how the trailers would look if they marketed this movie to today's audiences. Great use of Dead Weight by the way. It fits with the movie's tone nicely.
@@TheSailorGeek lol I know it's been eight years but I just stumbled upon this and also wanted to commend your use of Dead Weight, it's such a great song and SO underrated. Great edit altogether!
@@TheSailorGeek I'll tell the class you said Hi! It's an AP Lit class and we are finishing HAMLET this month. Your trailer is really good to whet their appetite to watch along at home, while also showcasing the movie we'll watch together (on our own devices at home). Thanks again.
I didn’t even realize this was a fan made trailer until I read the description after seeing it. Great job! Makes me want to watch the movie right now!

Brilliantly entertaining! I couldn't stop giggling! Great job!
A lovely trailer well-edited. Kudos.
I've never seen this movie yet, and this looks awesome.
It _is_ awesome. So nice to see something dialogue driven once in a while.
Absolutely worth it!

An existentialist masterpiece

This trailer is amazing! I love this movie. Great job!
I just watched this and thought it was a legit trailer from the 90s. I'm so impressed
A great trailer. Thank you. I will show it to my class during quarantine.

The movie mainly talks about a concept of free will or lack of it. Me being someone who doesn't believe there is free will really enjoyed this movie.
Perfect editing. Great job.
Everyone else says this, but this is really well done!
aw, how sweet! Iain glen as he was as young actor
This is great! Makes me want to watch the movie again
I love this film!
This was great trailer! Good job!
Are we the audience sopposed to know which one is Rozencratz or Guildenstern?
No. You would really only know if you read the script or the credits. The characters themselves barely know. Oldman is Roz and Roth is Guil
Good job! What music did you use?
Hope you got an A! Great work
Great job! I was just wondering, what's the name of the song you used in this?
Thanks! It's "Dead Weight" by Beck.
Thank you :)
Wow, great editing.
Thanks so much! :)
Where did you download the full movie in order to edit it?
Who's the actor who plays Hamlet, pls?
I remember his face but can't recall his name...
Iain Glen
Gary ❤️
What's the song around :30 seconds in?
Deadweight - Beck.
J-Bear! AKA Ser FriendZone.
Is it bad that I'm a 14 year old girl and I'm obsessed with Shakespeare and this play. Like what? And this was awesome. Good job!
That's very sweet of you, thank you!
no problem!
It's bad when you trying to get attention for that.
The play by Tom Stoppard is just as good too
