I sure do wish Reason and Steinberg could figure out a replacement for REWIRE. I used to have Reason projects set up as synth rack "presets" Rewired to Cubase. The CPU efficiency was amazing. Project management was fast and elegant. I still use Reason instruments as VST in Cubase but there is no comparison to REWIRE.

Are you simply trying to be able to create two projects that essentially sync up through the two DAWS? I use rewire years ago for syncing up the two DAW‘s so that they would sort of play nice together… As in like I would set up my base lines and reason and my drums and will say and then I would do my lead stuff in Cuba because a lot of the lead stuff used actual hardware which Reason kind of sucks for. Is that what you’re trying to accomplish?

@@Cap10NRGMusic , Yes, essentially. Reason as a VST means a new rack for each instrument or effect. Reason via Rewire allowed you to use one rack of synths, samplers etc and you could then choose anything from that one rack in Cubase from Cubase midi tracks. Save the Reason project with its content as a preset Rack. I had one Reason project set up for rock, one for EDM, etc... Now the "Rack" concept is somewhat lost unless you're using Reason's sequencer.

Thanks for the video. I've got one Reason patch loaded into Cubase 13. I'm just not certain how to more separate Reason patches. Do I have to add them as separate rack instrument for each one?

Hello @alleyway3215. You’ve got it - I know seems intense like “holy resources” but really it’s not that bad - it seems that somehow there is some kind of cache or something where additional plug in calls don’t use that much more. No idea how they made that happen. Hope that helps don’t forget to subscribe! Hope to see you around bye for now.

    Bro..!nice work..!
How do I open the sequencer page in reason, while using cubase 13?
I want to pattern my drum arrangements in redrum into cubase.
I'm having challenges in arranging my patterns from redrum to cubase.

Well - unfortunately the sequencer in Reason can’t be used in CUBASE (I wish it could, maybe later??? I hope…) You can use a sequencer player or maybe (haven’t tried it) the redrum can trigger patterns which should sync up

Hey there glad you liked the video! See if you performance seems pretty good to me. What are you planning on running it on? I’ve run it on everything down to an I seven I think eighth or seventh generation and it has worked great. My main machine is an I-9 12th GEN, and my notebook is an i7 10th GEN… works great there. My Mac is an I 7/7 GEN and it works well there also.

Hi! I am using Cubase 13 Pro, but have not been able to use Reason Rack with it. For some reason... the rack goes blank. I have seen others having the same issue posting in Cubase Forum, but the suggested solution does not work anymore since we dont have to use a password to use Reason Rack anymore. I have not tried resting my W11 and starting afresh. Maybe that would solve the problem? Too many upgrades? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hmmm weird? I have not seen that happen on any of my machines. Have you tried launching reason in standalone mode? Just go to your programs look for recent studios and launch reason and see if it goes from there if it does check to see if there are any updates… It will probably say there are if there are any when it launches update as per whatever happens there. Then quit and try and launch it again from QB. See if that helps. Let me know.

@@Cap10NRGMusic Yeah, I have updated all, QB and Reason. I have also emailed Reason but they are lost. I wonder if I should try removing both completely and reinstalling. The issue is to delete absolutely everything so no issues could be carried over.....

@@Cap10NRGMusic I also have same issue with some (not all) Waves VSTs. No issue with Roland, iZotope, Artudia, Korg, nothing. Only Waves and Reason.

@nachomoraga535 Hmmm 🤔 ok I’m kind of guessing here (basically what I would do) but when did you last update your GPU drivers? Wondering if it might be a bug there. I would try updating the graphics drivers to the latest version to see if that helps. I’ll do more checking into this and see if I can come up with a solution.

@nachomoraga535 ok I have some possibilities.
Known incompatibility with Komplete Kontrol: There have been reports of certain VSTs, particularly Air Music plugins from Native Instruments, causing blank screens when loaded within Komplete Kontrol inside Cubase NI Community forum: [invalid URL removed]. While not confirmed for Reason specifically, it's a possibility.
General VST display issue: Cubase might have encountered a glitch causing the display of VSTs to malfunction.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot:
      1) Bypass Komplete Kontrol (if applicable): Try loading Reason directly in Cubase, bypassing Komplete Kontrol as a host. This can help isolate if the issue is related to Komplete Kontrol.
      2) Refresh VST Cache: Cubase relies on a cached list of VSTs. Try refreshing the cache. The specific steps might differ based on your Cubase version, but generally involve going to Preferences > Plug-ins and finding a "Refresh VST Cache" option.
You already did this next one so I think you’re okay here…
      3) Reinstall Reason: A clean reinstall of Reason might resolve any corrupted files causing the display issue.
      4) Check Cubase and Reason versions: Ensure you are using the most current. There was just a Cubase update that fixed several bugs.
Cubase troubleshooting: Refer to the Cubase documentation for troubleshooting VST display issues. This might involve checking VST paths, plugin manager settings, and compatibility with 64-bit versions.
If none of these solutions work let me know and I will see what else I can come up with. You might want to hit up Reason Studios’ tech support. It might be something they’re aware of, maybe Steinberg’s as well.
