The Hidden Slaves of Dubai

  • Dubai may be a beacon of prosperity in the middle east, but it is built on a dark underbelly. The dark side of Dubai is hidden from Westerners and tourists, but the UAE is a place where forced servitude as bad as slavery has grown to epidemic proportions.
Migrant workers outnumber the local Emarati population. Especially Indian and Pakistani workers who are promised work for good wages abroad. But when they arrive they have their passports taken from them and are forced to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week for incredibly low wages. There is no way home for these stranded workers and many of them turn to suicide. Despite the local government claiming only 1 or 2 workers committed suicide a week the Indian consulate reported 3 daily suicides by Indian nationals every day in 2005 alone.
But the Emarati aren't too concerned about the conditions these workers live under. Foreign workers keep the country rich and goods cheap. Most Emarati have Nannies, maids and drivers along with a $60,000 USD average salary and state funded accomodation, education to PhD level, and healthcare - with a low cost of living.

‼️Dubai today is 44 degrees, it is seen as 53 degrees on the phone... While driving on the road, I was talking to my wife about the lack of air conditioning, the windows were closed but it was still not cold enough inside the car, then the bus carrying the construction workers passed us and I was very upset and ashamed of myself. , the people in the bus look like they are dying from the heat, no one is smiling, all the windows of the bus are open so the air conditioner is not working or there is no air conditioning, this is an embarrassing system... UEA trying to make everything flashy, trying to make everything perfect, the ministry of labor or the royal unaware of it or It is very sad that it is careless or does not bring a certain standard...

What’s your point? Literally most of the items in house are made in China, and let’s just say the conditions of the factories in China are not the best. Take for example an iPhone, search up a video of a Apple factory in China and look at the working conditions.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain the citizens are lazy and don't work hard. They all want office jobs filled with tea breaks, lunches and maybe they'll send a few emails and go home while earning $400k/year.

Indians are discriminated badly all over the world due to overpopulation. Take for example Middle East: Middle East is the land of Slavery for Indian blue collar workers and many other Indians since the 1980's. Indian blue collar workers are badly discriminated and made to live in labor camps which is a large area encampment of blue collar workers. In most companies' worker camps, blue collar Indian workers are cramped in a cabin with one washroom. Indian blue collar Workers passports are always confiscated from them upon arrival by their Arab employers. Indian blue collar Workers are made to work long hours without pay or vacation. As India is a poor country and cannot support its overpopulation with decent jobs, blue collar Indian workers and many other Indians have no choice but to go to Middle Eastern countries and work as slaves. Arabs and Westerners in Middle East enjoy higher standards of living with many luxuries due to blue collar Indian workers building their cities and serving them in various industries, whereas Indian blue collar workers suffer in labor camps with little pay or no pay for years and years. Indian blue collar workers work 12 hour shifts or more for peanuts or without pay under the control of the Arab employers. Indian blue collar workers working in Middle Eastern countries are paid peanuts compared to the blue collar workers paid in developed countries. Because of abundant supply of Indian blue collar workers due to over population, Middle Eastern countries will never raise the livings standards for Indian blue collar workers to improve their quality of life. Due to too many Indian blue collar workers and many other Indians in Middle Eastern countries, Arabs and Westerners look down upon all Indians with revulsion, repugnance and repulsiveness. Arabs and Westerners in Middle Eastern countries are not at all grateful for all the hard work blue collar Indian workers and many other Indians have done to build their cities and serving them in all types of industries since last 45 years or so. Indian workers are also badly discriminated in Italy with below standard wages and treated poorly due to overpopulation.

So relative to the average pay in dubai, the workers may be getting less money but its a larger pay than what they would be making in their home countries? So the “slaves” work a practical labor job and get paid cheaply relative to average pay in dubai, but the pay is better than the average pay in their country?

Wrong, for them it's not low wages. It's 2-3 times higher than what they make at home. For THEM it's high wages. It's between $250-$800 depending on your position on the job site.
This has been improving the past decade or so. These camps have air conditioning and decent conditions, i've seen videos of them.
The majority of them today don't experience the conditions you described.
And they don't have to pay for housing and food.
If you made 2,000 per month and had to pay for food and housing, you'd end up making less than them at the end of the day lol
I'm not condoning this necessarily but you exaggerated it. Just watch the videos of people who actually visited these worker camps and talk to workers.
