Open the news and read "KSA, Bahrain and UAE cut Qatar off". I had do the most cartoon thing ever and rub my eyes really well to see clearly and comprehend it. It was quite a WTF moment. I get to the exam hall, where we had plenty of Emirati students, and all of them were confused as fuck, "the fuck is happening? You heard the news?" It was quite a surreal feeling. P.S. Jordan did NOT cut it's diplomatic relationswl with Qatar. They just reduced the level of representation by recalling their ambassador. That was probably the best move Jordan could do. There is Israel to the west, Iraq and and Syria to the east and north. KSA is the only neighbour Jordan could have reliable both political and economic relationship. The recall of the ambassador was a gesture if good will to the KSA, while still keeping all the trade with Qatar, at least as much as the jew trade routes could support. Rumours go that despite the opening of the borders, Saudi trucks are not allowed into Qatar just yet, but Jordanian trucks coking through KSA are welcome.

to play sanctions effectively, you need to be sole source of something important , like US was with oil to Japan in 1941. and even then things can blow up in your face. sometimes literally like in mentioned case... sanctions very rarely work as intended, since they are proof to the sanctioned nation that someone is out to get them, hence inducing siege mentality and forcing innovating into circumnavigating them... or at very least coping with them. 60 years of sanctions did nothing to change regime in Cuba...

That simply is not possible with an entity as large as the US and it's global ties.. an insurrection here or sanction there can affect trades, currencies, commodity prices which are mostly priced in dollars
The British and French are those who drew those borders, and hundreds of years of Ottoman rule, all the US done was be an ally to both side. Also Lebanon is in a huge inevitable crisis. Bn Salman wants to change Saudi over-dependance on oil and change saudi economy yet He's very corrupt and a well-known killer (not only khashoshgi but also the yemeni children). His army is one of World's the most expensive but the saudi soldiers are very inefficient . His weakness will strengthen Iran and Turkey. Yemen is officially one of world's worst hellhole Qatar just had a problem with the siege (cuz of AlJazzera) but the problem intensifies when Turkey funded them, which made Qatar a Turkey puppet and AlJazzera a mouth for Erdogan sharing fake liberalism. Qatar has no business with Iran. Iraq doesn't feel like an arab country anymore . Egypt president is a dictator . His enemies are non-salafist islamists and Turkey (for expansionist reasons). Although he's shifting Egyptian economy and improving socioeconomical status of his ppl, worlds media(BBC,The guardian, Foreign Policy,..) and AlJazeera ofc keep defaming him for killing democracy and arab spring . His ideology is (dictatorship or terrorism). Libya is retrieving stability after Turkey,Russia and UAE left it. Algeria is being anti-Morocco for many reasons . Two of them are normalisation with israel and taking the western desert.

The fact is no matter the politics, no matter the hypocrisy, the people of the gulf countries will always be brothers and sisters, they share a language, a religion and blood, there’s more to it than we know, never let outsiders brainwash you.
There was all sorts of intimidation, propaganda and arm twisting to defeat Qatar and it stood firm. The other Gulf countries didn't fully realize that they couldn't have slept by not allowing Doha to sleep. Wise decision to know that it's better together always.
The Embargo was put in place after the meeting of all the heads of the gulf states in Riad with President Trump. It was Trumps first trip abroad. Qatar left this meeting in Riad premature well before the meeting was over. After this incident the embargo was set up. Would be interesting to know why Qatar left this important meeting early and was what the matter of the meeting. As soon as Trump arrived back in the States he announced and boasted about a 500 Bln USD arms deal made in Riad. Obviously Qatar withdrew from the deal made by Trump in Riad. The Embargo was then the result.
Your suggestion that the embargo was as a result of trump deal is just wrong and sensless, the embargo was KSA flexing it's muscles and influence....Qatar would be a wasteland right now if its fight was against the US

The only thing they should worry about is that the world is moving away from fossil fuel and this will have major impact on their economy. Now, is the right time for them to invest on their people and their countries and open the borders like EU for free movement. Showing them the middle finger in the process by excelling in every aspect while keeping calm and persevering also brings great pleasure.
